Wow this is so amazing. Like being his best friend and analyst at the same time. A Freudian analyst could have had a field day with this. I wonder if he ever was in analysis?
Pretty fucked up guy, unfortunately. Not happy to hear him talk about his Mom like that, not a good thing to have out considering his sisters might feel bad about it too.
Him dissing Jagger and the others seems quite snobbish.
Very insecure guy. Yoko wasn't good for him, but he'd glommed onto her, and seemed bound and determined to make himself believe she was his savior. I don't think the world ever bought it.
this is just so disturbing, to hear him admit he wanted to get incestuous with his mother? i had to listen to this many times to believe what i was hearing... and people think Yoko broke up the Beatles? John had some serious, complex issues. I always imagined he had trouble dealing with his early broken home life, but i had NO IDEA just how strange his desires had swirled into confusion.
Then again many of us have had similar situations... i think that's the subconscious connection we share.
Interesting how John referred to Paul Simon. I read stories where Simon would turn up, unannounced at John's 1973 and 74 recording sessions in New York hoping that John would ask him to "sit in". John never did. So Simon would sit and watch in the control room. The house John was talking about was in Long Island that Yoko bought as their "weekend house". One of his neighbors was Billy Joel, but they never met.
I heard somewhere that when asked how he think he would die he said that some loony on the streets would shoot him. That's very ironic because he was all for peace and he didn't deserve that kind of death.
john kept a diary throughout the 70's about his sex drive and fantasy's he often worried that he masterbated too much. All was not well with john and yoko,he would complain that she did not have sex often enough and this left him feeling that she was more concerned with business than she was of him,he was very fragile emotionally
you couldn't get a better description of a man with social and psychological insecurities and falacies than this....from the man himself. So bitterly honest. Love it... what a perspective.
very interesting, he had a very unstable home life growing up... to say the least. He certainly didn't deserve to die the way he did, after all that he's been through.
I agree 100%. I just wish that people wouldnt judge John so harsh about his relationship with Julian. John spent years giving of himself as a Beatle & peace. He didnt have time to reflect on his mistakes.

What interview is this from? Was it an interview, or just him recording himself?

John was recording himself..I don't know why. It's almost as if he knew he didn't have a lot of time left.
