  • The lyrics 'ARE' right!

  • totally not helping

  • 11th century not 16th

  • song makes me feel sad and guilty :(

  • This is the longest version I've found so far. It's a shame that there's no version (at least my search didn't find any) that is not karaoke and is as long as this one.

    Awesome song!

  • @Ageoffan

Oh, but there is. Neil Young for instance do have a version, even if i think its a bootleg. And a lot of other vocalists which im not that familiar with. Just look at the related videoes. Hope that helps a bit

  • so beautiful song so sad than the man grite dat song is dead :(

  • There is a persistent belief that Greensleeves was composed by Henry VIII for his lover and future queen consort Anne Boleyn. Boleyn allegedly rejected King Henry's attempts to seduce her and this rejection may be referred to in the song when the writer's love "cast me off discourteously". However, Henry did not compose "Greensleeves", which is probably Elizabethan in origin and is based on an Italian style of composition that did not reach England until after his death.[2]

  • @peaceheart34 wikipedia great isnt it ........unfortunatly not alway accurate or complete

  • ah the Tudor family. What difference they made in England's history.....

  • i am i supposed to know the timing if there isn't a voice

  • @TheYan0701

Hmmm, to be honest, I dont know :S

But I know several bands have covered of made their own versions of this song.

And as I said in the description, I'm not even sure if its the original lyrics, I think I found it on wiki or something XD

Long Live Classical music (and of course Rock N Roll)

  • I also know these lyrics, even though I've found some more verses and also nobody really knows the order, so I think you're just fine here :)

  • @TheYan0701 You can always listen to one with a voice...

  • Henry The Eighth Wrote... GO ENGLAND!

  • Wrong lyrics?

  • @Acrobatictaliban

Who knows, this song is over 400 years old, but as i've written in the description, the lyrics fits

  • @Acrobatictaliban remember its old fashioned

  • tis was my lullaby wen i was litle =[

  • WHERES THE VOICE?

  • @zootycoon2freakgirl

Lost for 3 centuries or so XD

This is originaly over 250 years old, and sadly the didnt have recorders then. But if you want to hear with voices, there are probably over 100 different covers of this song. I think for instance Neil Young has a verson of this song

Long Live Classical Music (and of couse classic rock!!! XD)

  • @RockinGeneration ok.. oh and srry for the caps... i was really hyper XD

  • It's so beautiful you could cry a lake.

It's so moving you get the shivers

It's so heavenly you feel like you've never been better

It's so gentle, like our mothers' touch

It's so light and floaty, you're in a different world.

    - Peace be with Greensleeves <3

  • there were so many parodies of this song that it made it hard to find the original one =D

  • I've loved this song ever since i was a toddler unforgettable

  • Nice to hear this again. I love playing this on keyboard, such a good rhythm.
