You can't call military recruiters child predators when they don't force them to risk their lives. They offer it as an option and don't force their will on others. This is why they are actually failing, which has another tragic consequence: recruiter suicide BECAUSE they fail. It's ignorant to blame military recruiters for deaths in Iraq. Ultimately, a college age kid is old enough to know when he should refuse an offer.
I would rather a predator raped my child then let him be raped by society. Children with some intellect turn out to be useless pieces of shit that can't do anything but name athletes and mastrubate. I don't wanna be human anymore. I wanna be a species that's not ashamed of itself for procreating & having emotions. Sure. Child porn is gross & stupid, but how about letting responsible adults behave like responsible adults?
It's scary how many people in society today could be rapists and child predators. I like Bill Maher, but imagen if news surfaced that he was downloading child porn? You never know. Creepy stuff
You know, I never understood what is so wrong about waching child porn. Personally, I'd put my energy into catching the people who actually make it, but that's just me.
See, again Bill shows his Leftist bias. Where were his outrageous claims (military recruiters are targetting your children for death; our boys are for cannon fodder) when we went into Bosnia and Somalia under Clinton? I don't remember Bill's outrage then!
No, Bill is all about Bush-hate. That's all it is. If Saint Obama had invaded Iraq (eloquently/charismatically explaining his reasons in a "tingle down the leg" speech), you wouldn't be hearing one fucking negative word from Billy boy.
Wow you're comparing basically skirmishes to a large 6-year-and-counting military campaign that toppled a sovereign state? Nice. And I don't remember what Bill was doing in the 90s (I was in high school). Did he have platform like he has now? I don't know...
P.S. To many, there's good reasons for being critical of Bush, don't know if you were aware. Although I'm in the military, so my perspective is different from most...
central: If you consider Bosnia a "skirmish", I question your judgement. 20,000 troops on the ground for many years. But, I admit the casualties in Iraq II dwarf those of Clinton's years.
But the issue here is Maher's double standard. Google "Bill Clinton's broken promises" and it says "Clinton sent U.S. forces into combat situations nearly twice as many times as the four preceding presidents combined had over 17 years."
Your such a fuckass. Bosnia and Somilia were humanitiarian missions with broad based international support. There was clear accepted reason to enter those countries.
moemoe: Just calling something a "humanitarian mission" doesn't mean a fucking thing. Think back, asshole. The coalition went into Bosnia and Somalia to remove ruthless scum that were murdering people. Sound sorta similar to Iraq II?
I was opposed to Iraq II from the start. My gripe here is Billie's double standard. I stand by my position that if Obama had invaded Iraq Maher wouldn't have said a fucking word.
The Yugoslav wars and the Iraq situation were not at all similar. Milosevic was actively ethnically cleansing Bosniaks and Croats in a pledge to create a greater serbia. The albanians were the next on his hit list and NATO intervened. There was no active war or genocidal campaign underway when the US invaded Iraq II.
and if obama had invaded Iraq on the same terms as Bush had, bill, as would have the rest of us, would have waged as voracious an opposition as we did when Bush started that ill-advised folly. We opposed Bush's war because it was formed on false pretenses. We opposed it because we saw through the BS from the start. Our opposition had nothing to do with our feeling for the man, it had to do with our analysis of the facts.
moem: OK. I agree with everything you said, with one exception. And that's Bill Maher's motivation and probable actions.
I still maintain that Maher is afflicted with BDS (Bush Derangement Syndrome) and that his vitriol is based primarily on his personal hatred of Bush...and not on specific Bush policy issues. I still believe that if Obama had invaded Iraq under the same circumstances/rationale as Bush, that Maher wouldn't be nearly as indignant. My opinion.
Well that's pure speculation, but I'm not so sure. Bush brazenly ignored the UN and invaded with such flimsey evidence that everyone, not such maher, was indignant. The sheer arrogance, ignorance and stupidity of bush and his henchmen got everyone riled up. Maher just articulated things so much better and forcefully than anyone else.
Should I conclude from this comment that you hate Bush's policies and are suprised that BM isn't criticizing Obama for continuing many of them, or do you like Bush?

slcthunk: I voted for Bush in '00 and against him in '04 because of the war. The only thing Bush did right was his initial tax cuts...and I have to give him credit for stopping all terrorist attacks in the US after 9/11. Do I hate his policies? No, "hate" is too strong a word; I'll say I disagree with them.
Re Obama, I find it ironic that he's continuing so many of Bush's policies. And yeah, most of the Left (including BM) is giving him a pass because they trust him...unlike Bush.

SLC: I voted for McCain because:
- I felt he was a moderate whose focus was on reducing govt's size
-I was turned off by Obama's position on raising taxes and expanding govt...as well as his insistence on appointent activist judges.
However....Obama's better than I thought he would be. I'm OK with most of what he's doing...the one glaring exception is tripling the national debt...in addition to his proposed huge tax hikes on energy.
To be honest I didn't even entertain the idea of voting for McCain. I think the idea of conservatives talking about reducing the size and scope of govt while promoting an empire and voting for bailouts is absurd.
slcthunk: You're correct that Bush and his congress from '00-06 violated some very fundamental conservative principles by:
-expanding the national debt to $8T while increasing entitlement programs (prescription drugs) and pork barrel spending
-invading Iraq under some utopian dream of nation building.
It's why many feel Bush was NOT a conservative...he was a Neocon which is significantly different. McCain wasn't a conservative either...except on cutting govt spending.

The kosovo, Bosnia, Somolia conflicts under bill clinton didn't kill 4500 of our boys, and it didn't last five years...and yes bill maher was very critical of bill clinton.
Its funny you should say that because he specifically said that if Obama were to do all that Bush had done he'd be the same way. And he's criticized Bill Clinton plenty of times. He's even addressed how people like you claim he doesn't, lol.

Did he ever say anything negative about Clinton? Sure. Tepid little remarks...NOTHING like the filth he heaped on Bush.
And he can say he would treat Obama the same way...words are cheap. We'll see how critical he'll be of Obama. My bet is he'll be a cheerleader.

How is it leftist bias when Mahar rightly points out that if you join the military today, there's a pretty good chance your going to get killed or injured severely? I don't believe it is bush hate but if it is, so what? Look how many lives, have been lost b/c of Bush. Obama actually opposed this war from the beginning so Mahar would never have the opportunity to agree with him. But Mahar has said in interviews that he disagrees with Obama on committing more troops to Afghanistan.
grogo: I retired from the military in 2005 after 24 yrs on active duty. How many troops have cycled through Iraq/Afghanistan in the last 5 years? Maybe 300,000. And how many have died? About
4,200. That's hardly a casualty rate that warrants your comment that "there's a pretty good chance your going to get killed or injured severely".
I opposed the Iraq invasion from the start, but hope something good will come from it. IMO Bill (and his ilk) assume we will fail because they hate Bush.
you dont see him talking about clinton on this show couse this show dint air in the clinton times, for that look up youtube for the show "politically incorrect"
Dadalelo: What??!! Maher has been a comedian on the public stage for 20 years and he did plenty of routines/talkshows during the Clinton era. Maher also had a show called "Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher" from 1993-2002. It was a daily show so Maher had ample opportunity to criticise Clinton's many, many uses of the US military.
I don't recall hearing a peep from Billy-boy.
And we won't hear a peep when Obama uses military force either.
I come from a long line of "High Strung" Americans! 35 years ago my oldest son's 3rd grade teacher called me in, wanted my son tested an' put on Rit! I wanted to kick her butt right there and she knew it; told her to get screwed! Never had another prob! (smile)
Well America has developed since then. Now you dont have top tell the teachers to get screwed they do it on their own. Usually pop a few ritalin with the kids and then its *bedtime*
Lol oh yes military recruiters can be compared to child predators...Laff Thats very classy..using the foley scandal as an oppurtunity to bash our government.i'm just going to add him to the list of self righteous pigs like john kerry whos already famous quote *IF YOU DONT STUDY HARD YOU WILL END UP IN IRAQ!!!* no wonder half of the democratic party doesnt agree with one another..why am I even talking? last time I checked bill's show had less viewers than the PBS network at 2 a.m. LOL!
Wow, that one little quote that came from Kerry but the THOUSANDS of stupid shit that rolls off the tongue of that worthless mammal you call a President. You. Got. Him. Good.
Kerry didn't mean it like that ya schmuck. Not even that, Kerry actually went to war in Vietnam, he'd be the last person to make fun of the military. A lil common sense in breaking down what Fox News tells ya goes a long way.
Kerry was very obviously referring to Bush as being unintelligent and stuck in Iraq (Bush graduated Yale with a C average). It was poorly worded, yes, but politicians are typically the worst at joke-telling. Republicans blew it out of proportion.
And yes not every Democrat agrees on social issues, because political party represents your belief in whether Federal or State government is more important. There are politicians on either side have opinions that contradict the majority of their party. John Mcaine is against torture, Bush is for it. The Republicans are no more unified than the Democrats.
how come he doesn't mention porn or hollywood? oh that's right, no republicans or Christians in those industries.

It's scary how many people in society today could be rapists and child predators. I like Bill Maher, but imagen if news surfaced that he was downloading child porn? You never know. Creepy stuff
wackid89 3 years ago
You know, I never understood what is so wrong about waching child porn. Personally, I'd put my energy into catching the people who actually make it, but that's just me.
Tleilaxu0 3 years ago
Yeah but if people didn't want to download it, there would be less people making it...

JohnR22926 3 years ago
Wow you're comparing basically skirmishes to a large 6-year-and-counting military campaign that toppled a sovereign state? Nice. And I don't remember what Bill was doing in the 90s (I was in high school). Did he have platform like he has now? I don't know...
P.S. To many, there's good reasons for being critical of Bush, don't know if you were aware. Although I'm in the military, so my perspective is different from most...
CentralMo50 3 years ago 3
central: If you consider Bosnia a "skirmish", I question your judgement.
Again, not a peep of protest from Maher then.
JohnR22926 3 years ago
JohnR, you just lost the game.
Harilsp 3 years ago 2
Your such a fuckass. Bosnia and Somilia were humanitiarian missions with broad based international support. There was clear accepted reason to enter those countries.
moemoemoe134 2 years ago 2
moemoe: Just calling something a "humanitarian mission" doesn't mean a fucking thing.
JohnR22926 2 years ago
The Yugoslav wars and the Iraq situation were not at all similar. Milosevic was actively ethnically cleansing Bosniaks and Croats in a pledge to create a greater serbia. The albanians were the next on his hit list and NATO intervened. There was no active war or genocidal campaign underway when the US invaded Iraq II.
moemoemoe134 2 years ago
and if obama had invaded Iraq on the same terms as Bush had, bill, as would have the rest of us, would have waged as voracious an opposition as we did when Bush started that ill-advised folly. We opposed Bush's war because it was formed on false pretenses. We opposed it because we saw through the BS from the start. Our opposition had nothing to do with our feeling for the man, it had to do with our analysis of the facts.
moemoemoe134 2 years ago
My opinion.
JohnR22926 2 years ago
Well that's pure speculation, but I'm not so sure. Bush brazenly ignored the UN and invaded with such flimsey evidence that everyone, not such maher, was indignant. The sheer arrogance, ignorance and stupidity of bush and his henchmen got everyone riled up. Maher just articulated things so much better and forcefully than anyone else.
moemoemoe134 2 years ago 2

Who'd you vote for this time? This was the first election I could vote in, I went Ron Paul on the primaries and Ralph Nader in the general election
SLCThunk 2 years ago

SLC: I voted for McCain because:
- I felt he was a moderate whose focus was on reducing govt's size
-I was turned off by Obama's position on raising taxes and expanding govt...as well as his insistence on appointent activist judges.
However....Obama's better than I thought he would be. I'm OK with most of what he's doing...the one glaring exception is tripling the national debt...in addition to his proposed huge tax hikes on energy.
JohnR22926 2 years ago
To be honest I didn't even entertain the idea of voting for McCain. I think the idea of conservatives talking about reducing the size and scope of govt while promoting an empire and voting for bailouts is absurd.
I hated them both, though.
SLCThunk 2 years ago 5
slcthunk: You're correct that Bush and his congress from '00-06 violated some very fundamental conservative principles by:
-expanding the national debt to $8T while increasing entitlement programs (prescription drugs) and pork barrel spending
-invading Iraq under some utopian dream of nation building.
It's why many feel Bush was NOT a conservative...he was a Neocon which is significantly different. McCain wasn't a conservative either...except on cutting govt spending.

Its funny you should say that because he specifically said that if Obama were to do all that Bush had done he'd be the same way. And he's criticized Bill Clinton plenty of times. He's even addressed how people like you claim he doesn't, lol.

thefloacist: Nope. I'm not buying it. I watched every Maher vid on Youtube (before they pulled most of them due to copywright issues), and used to watch Politically Incorrect before it was cancelled.

But Mahar has said in interviews that he disagrees with Obama on committing more troops to Afghanistan.
gogosox82 3 years ago
grogo: I retired from the military in 2005 after 24 yrs on active duty.
JohnR22926 3 years ago
you dont see him talking about clinton on this show couse this show dint air in the clinton times, for that look up youtube for the show "politically incorrect"
Dadalelo 3 years ago
Dadalelo: What??!! Maher has been a comedian on the public stage for 20 years and he did plenty of routines/talkshows during the Clinton era. Maher also had a show called "Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher" from 1993-2002. It was a daily show so Maher had ample opportunity to criticise Clinton's many, many uses of the US military.
I don't recall hearing a peep from Billy-boy.
And we won't hear a peep when Obama uses military force either.
We only hear his whines when Bush does it.

Wow, that one little quote that came from Kerry but the THOUSANDS of stupid shit that rolls off the tongue of that worthless mammal you call a President. You. Got. Him. Good.
Phlikone 5 years ago 2
Kerry didn't mean it like that ya schmuck. Not even that, Kerry actually went to war in Vietnam, he'd be the last person to make fun of the military. A lil common sense in breaking down what Fox News tells ya goes a long way.
damng00d 4 years ago 2
Kerry was very obviously referring to Bush as being unintelligent and stuck in Iraq (Bush graduated Yale with a C average). It was poorly worded, yes, but politicians are typically the worst at joke-telling. Republicans blew it out of proportion.
odietrying 4 years ago
And yes not every Democrat agrees on social issues, because political party represents your belief in whether Federal or State government is more important. There are politicians on either side have opinions that contradict the majority of their party. John Mcaine is against torture, Bush is for it. The Republicans are no more unified than the Democrats.
