I wouldn't call him the best. He's top 10, IMO. One of the best defensive catchers ever, but he wasn't that good with the bat. Low OBP, and put up stats in a park that's very hitter-friendly (Arlington).

It would help your opinion if you knew anything of baseball, which you quite obviously don't. Bench was terrific defensively, there's not denying that. However, Ivan Rodriguez is the greatest ALL-AROUND catcher ever. He hit for power, he hit for average, he was amazing defensively for his time, and there wasn't one runner he couldn't throw out. Not to mention that he is probably the best catcher at blocking the plate.

True, but u gotta remember that Pudge was only gonna play 20-30 more games with us and then he was a free agent. I just think Dave DUMBrowski could've done a hell of a lot better than JUST Kyle Farnsworth !! We shoulda easily made the playoffs this season with the lineup we started with. I don't know what happened with the pitching staff ! Our offense in good but should be phenomenal ! Leyland switched all the damn positions up and threw everyone off, they weren't comfortable at those positions.

Fuck you... wait...dammit your right!... Shit! I live in Detroit and am a Tigers fan but you are correct sir. At the begining of the season a lot of sports writers, magazines, and baseball analysts picked the Tigers to make the playoffs. I agreed with them. Look at the line up we had to start with. Management spent bucks on hitting, but none on pitching. The bullpen makes me wanna vomit too. We have 4 future H.O.F.'ers on the club. well... now 3. Hard to believe Jones led the AL in sv in 2000!

thanks for admitting the truth. sorry but i knew before the season started detriot wasn't going to do that good cause they doing exaclty what the yankees were doing not too long ago, trade prospects for hitters, and left with old farts in the rotation and bullpen

however there is one pitcher i seen in the tigers farm system, he is cuban, i seen him pitch in spring training, his name starts with a p, he is pretty good so look out for him.
