Nehemiah should be read in light of Ezra. It was in Ezra that the sacrifice for sin was restored; only after the spiritual foundations had been set right could the wall be rebuilt.
In our world today Christ's sacrifice on Calvary needs to be restored, and only then society can be rejuvenated. How can this be done? Every time holy mass is celebrated Calvary is re-presented and the Sacrifice of the spotless lamb is given again to the Father for the sake of our sins.
What a powerful message that has sadly gone unnoticed. People don't understand the power that God has NOW. Sadly, many see the bible as some kind of story book. God was alive then, and is alive now, we just have to fervently seek him.
