front brakes will not tip you over the bars if you know how to use your brakes wisely. front brake gives you the most stopping power between the two brakes. it will stop your bike immediately after you squeeze on your lever.
I have read something similar. The other thing is, that when you brake in the high speed sharply with both brakes, your back wheel can get shear. (like a tale from the fish.)
What might seem like common sense to most folks is actually informative for novices like myself. Thanks, REI.
