Thanks for the great video just want to know if the new imac 2.8 i7 quad with 8GB ram with protools8 can hundle over 30 to 40 or 50 audio tracks with some plug ins like autotune and dverb eq compressor plus reasone in rewire and some vertual insteruments like sampletank - kontakt
It just doesn't seem to offer much, yeah sure it's aids mixing a little by making things in your DAW more accessible; but it doesn't do anymore than Logic can do by itself with mouse and keyboard, it doesn't add any characteristics or anything to the mix it's just a case of using your fingers on the control surface instead of your mouse and keyboard and that's about it. wouldn't you rather spend the money on a decent pre-amp or compressor? I would.
you get hands on feel wich is really important. Then you can do stuff with knobs and faders instead of using mouse where u loose alot of feeling. But in reality a Euphonix System 5-MC would be much better and it's only priced 20 000$ :) so with a bit of saving you can rather fill ur studio with a SWEET mixing desk :D... I'm gonna save up for one
Your right. I think the fixation with having control surfaces is so overblown. its just as easy and useful to mix completely in the box and its cheaper. The only surface that makes sense is a mixer with eq etc allowing you to mold the sound before it goes into the DAW.
the price difference between the US and the UK is massive. Its disgraceful to charge UK people nearly double the cost. To buy those two above will cost 2300 pounds. far to overpriced.
I can't take this one seriously yet because they don't have Windows support. After all this time, it is obvious they never will. Go ahead and ignore the dominant computer market share if you like, your loss.
After this much time there can't be parallel development platforms, so stability support and new feature focus will always be on the MAC first. If they do add Windows support, it'll be crippled and half-assed like Tascam.
No thanks. I'll stick with Mackie (or M-Audio (maybe)).
well i need a big setup hey why not have your on hard drive and not pc why pc or mac crashes or frezzzzz or just haNGS UP DONT FOR GET THE CHANGING UP DATES ON PC OR MAC
um to the person bigging up the control 24 i use one every day at work and its the biggesy piece of shit and has broken down 3 times already bloody awful.....ive seen the euphonix and its very very nice ,tricky to set up but once it is its v good.
if only it was 999 and 699, i might consider it now. ergo, must wait until i get better jobby and finish collegy, but why go to college in order to make music? i don't know.
college for music is dumber than college for knowledge. you can learn 100% of the shit you learn in any college, any major by using the library. don't even get me started with music production
paying for college isn't about paying for the knowledge per say, its about paying for the credentials you receive upon graduation. Calculus is the same at any school you go to, but graduating from Harvard sounds a hell of a lot better than graduating from Boondocks University
college isn't better than learning on your own, but I suppose most people want a clear idea of what one has been studying and for how long, and they receive what they deem to be a measure of a student's compentency. It's all for expediency. Ah, conventions...
do you think that with all this youtube and mp3 downloads people care about bitrate and frequencies?
actually its the other way round...people couldnt fuck all about the quality ..the only reason they buy a cd is when you cant find it on itunes. and all the home recording studios that are on all around the world wont help your concept... to have a pro studio standard interface or daw controller you need high thousands ..something which only the 4 big studios can afford
would the 18 year old new comer have a solo hit out on the streets recorded in his 200k home studio? euphonix might be good i never tried it... but i had to sacrifice 3 dutch holidays to afford my rent + an M4 mixer and a couple of apogee converters.
i dont know your budget but mine is limited and i find stuff to be expensive
gaining experience and knowledge in the field of music production is very hard. when you start a job in the field, you start in a running position and aren't given time to gain experience. when you go to college for it, not only are you able to gain experience without fear of screwing up, but also industry professionals can share their knowledge with you. its incredibly hard to gain that outside in the real world. saying that college for music is any "dumber" is an incredibly ignorant statement
I agree with quartercherries, but yes the world needs an easy way to determine whether or not a person ACTUALLY USED the library, or dicked about and bullshitted their way to the top, so me as a CEO, i'd like to easily read some letters behind your name, and trust the school references rather than word of mouth - However, I believe school is for those that want it, not everyone needs it, really. In fact, skillset work like music should be certification based, not diploma based. 2 cents.

a mac is great for music production and video editing I use one for music production I used a pc before but it couldn't handle the software/hardware and it always crashed and my mac doesn't crash..and people who buy macs just cuz they saw a commercial on tv are dumb
I own an ad agency and we use Apple computers exclusively. Why? Well, for starters they're the design industry standard. They NEVER crash, they are true plug and play, there's no worries about viruses. So, basically they make Windows machines a joke. If you do design, print, art and of course music creation then a Mac is a no brainer. If you want headaches, crashes, viruses, etc, etc then go ahead and buy a piece of shit Windows machine and have at it. My Mac and I made over $100K last year : )
If you have that many PC problems, you don't know what you're doing. And in that case, stick with the MAC because anything more would just confuse you.
As for your trying to convince people they can be successful in the industry like you if they invest in Apple, just stop now. You're embarrassing yourself.
The industry standard tools are on BOTH platforms for a reason. And it's NOT the tool... it's the talent.
There is no way a Windows machine can be as stable as a Mac simply because of all the different combinations of hardware. I had to use PC's for 3D illustration work before Lightwave worked well enough on the Mac and it was 4 years of hell. I went through roughly 4 different PC machines before FINALLY going to Mac and it has been pure heaven ever since. If you used a Mac for a month I can guarantee you'd NEVER go back to a Windows computer. Why/how people can defend Microsoft is bizarre.
@dajzilla So its M$'s fault that there are so many different HW combinations? Im sorry but i dont like being told what hardware i can use or what i can and cant do with my computer or phone. Hell they even limit how many IPads you can buy in your LIFETIME ( you can only buy two) Its even worse if you are a developer. Why should anyone be told what language you can program in and for that matter why should i have to sell MY software on THEIR store.
@dajzilla well maybe if you werent a ritard who could manage a real computer with legitimate processing power and customization, you know like a legitimate producer, you could render your shit 5 times faster lul apple lives in the fuckin hard ware stone age, my pc and i didnt make over 100 k last year, but we did operate at 3.2 ghz hows ur dual core brick feel about that when it takes 10 minutes to render anything at 300dpi thru its shitty stock card
You honestly don't understand? They also BOUGHT MACs!!! What did you expect? They already spent way more than they needed to for the same job. All for the privilege of not needed to read or learn anything about computers. Plus it's shinny. ;P
Now, Daniel indicates that the Artist Series supports Apple/Logic, Nuendo/Cubase, and Windows/Cakewalk.
