For $37 you could have picked up a Cam Caddie Scorpion off Amazon and captured some cleaner movements. Still not bad but I've had some great success with Cam Caddie.
Can someone explain to me why the camerawork in this video is so shitty? I mean, if you're going to demonstrate a device that improves the stability of a camera, then at least put a bit of effort into using it.
It's a little more complex than that... If you wanna go into specifics, it's because of the increased inertial momentum of the system. The long levers and the weight at the end make the system much more stable because you need a greater force to give it the same (angular) acceleration. This makes the shaking much less noticeable.
Yes, I do! the purpose of a steadycam is to avoid the shaking and jerkiness that come with the use of a small hand-held camera with lots of movement. It therefore makes the footage more comfortable. All I'm saying is that, while the steadycam does a good job of smoothing out the footage, The constant rotation makes the footage _less_ comfortable to watch. If you disagree, that's fine with me. But just because I'm not flattering the video doesn't mean I don't understand it!
better practice using stabilizers

@FrankensteinsTV Thanks for the suggestion Frank, I checkd out Cam Caddie videos and Amazon and it looks very efficient especially for the price.

Was this a squash player or a person playing squash? I'd say the latter

@intrigid there was a woman, he was pretty distracted.

@intrigid I dunno, it looks pretty smooth to me. Only the video quality is bad, but that has to do with compressing.

I made this design of steadicam. I have a demonstration video on my channel if you want to further get an idea what it's like.

y does this look like crap? ur other footage was amazing.
noidest04 3 years ago
This looks so much smoother than holding the camera normally.
It's obviously not trying to completely eliminate shakes, for that you'd need something along the ideas of recording a movie.
For less than $20 though? its great.
c0dehx 2 years ago
basically it is just the amount of shaking that is too much to be called smooth, and too little to be viewed as handheld *no tripod*...
Ballhandler17 3 years ago
it is really not that smooth. watch fullscreen. it isnt shaking as bad as a purely handheld camera would, but it is shaking.
Ballhandler17 3 years ago 2
no but compare it to normall cameras and its prety darn good

I hav 1 question? what is the principle behind this invention?
I mean why is THAT DESIGN KEEPING the camera steady? tell me scientifically. xD
djarnexus 4 years ago
It counter ballances the wait and spreads it out to where it wont swing or shake.

It'd probably be more comfortable if you stopped constantly rotating..
