Hey Chap! Great vid as always. I had a question regarding the mics. I've only been playing a year and a half and not very experienced yet. I was wondering if you could explain what effect mic placement can have on your sound when placed at different locations on the cab?
Hi Guys, I have posted some audio samples of the two speakers in the cab, clean & crunch on the Maplewood Studio Soundcloud page, link is in the description. I am puzzled as everywhere states that the cab should have 2 V30's in it so I am getting this checked out to make sure we did not have a mod'ed cab (unlikely as it was taken from the store) or if something else strange happened. Either way, enjoy the audio and hear the difference between a Celestion G12 and V30.
Man does chappers love that sustainer...hehe man i can see myself going on for hours playing with one of those like a baby just met candy..haha definitely something i want to try out, looks like a lot of fun...
@RobChappers Allright, I didn't know that. Still very good amp review. I stopped reading articles or magazines, because yours reviews are just the best in whole internet. You have to be proud of this! :)
And it is really good that you don't do it in russian, as I've got some readers for my reviews! :)
@MrTorres7 Yes it is. The Thunder amps are very good at doom/sludge metal and rock/blues. While they have enough gain for most metal genres it just doesn't have the right voice for most metal--too much fuzz and mud for that sterile clarity that metal needs. The Rockerverb handles that job better.
@RobChappers Hey mate, Something makes me beg to differ. Wasn't the Thunder 30 and 100 voiced the same as the thunderverb and rockerverb? I'm not sure, I use my Dual Terror for prog metal so maybe I'm wrong!
I believe you can use it for metal if you want to be different. It doesn't always have to be Mesa rectifier to sound good with metal. Zakk Wylde ie uses the JCM800 with isn't a metal amp at all by itself. Just add a overdrive pedal and you can get any metal tone you want. And believe me you don't need a distortion pedal, overdrive will suffice.
@MrTorres7 This amp could be used for metal if you put a really decent pedal infront of it.
I have an AD30 head which is a rock/blues amp and I use it for metal by putting an Electro Harmonix Metal Muff infront of it (Using mostly the volume control to boost the signal to the amp to drive it more and a little bit of the pedals distortion to give it that trebly bite) and it sounds absolutely killer live!
But I like the sound of a massively dirven class A for metal, might not be your taste.
@gwanksta Yeah! The Cab has 2 different types of speaker in there, I was hoping to do a section focusing on each of the speaker but I had to rush to get this audio done before I went into hospital so I ran out of time. If your still interested I could put a couple of files up on SoundCloud for you hearing each speaker on it's own, clean and crunch?
How come did I like the ML1 more than the LP? :D the ML1 is a guitar of win I guess how you would say...grats on that :) great demo btw :) wishing well
Hey chappers, why haven't reviewed any Engl amps, they are pretty bad ass metal machines but actually very versatile ;D And while i'm on it, maybe an amp head and cabinette relationship, coz i know nothing about cabinettes and i'm sure i'm not alone xD
Why has this video already two dislikes? This is a great demo with one of the best sounds i've heard in the Andertons demo's. Ofcourse with all the great playing... Hmm, mystery:-P.

Dont care for orange much why does everyone like them? ive played on the 15 wt solid state cube, the 50 wt solid state, 100 wt valve head and matching caband it just sounds garbage with either my live or studio rig. i use top of the line gear so its not my gear plus i have a rig team that prepares my guitars to my specifies weekly. Plus my gear is always checked by me and my team so i dont get why i hate the orange amps so much.
@gnrmanmatt Agreed, best tones for shure. I love my current amp to bits and i would never sell it but i have always hade the tunderverb in the back of my head, i so adore orange amps. @Sulcuscentralis Rob has accidentally put a bit of the boom mic in there which catches all the speech, I should have muted it here to stop him using it! That is actually heavily compressed at a ratio of 2.25:1 with about 14 to 16 db of compression/gain reduction going on, It also has all the EQ for the speech on there so it's not very true to the actual sound at all! My aim with all the audio is to be as true and authentic sounding, how it sounds in the room and not 'produced' in any way.
