they stopped selling them over here after 77 after the dumb catylic converters were introduced but still made them until the late 90's in mexico.

@salamonetalton Actually, I drive my 77 beetle daily. It has a catylitic converter. I think they stopped selling it here for safety reasons not smog reasons.

my papa tubo muchos unos de los anos 80's y otro que se accidento y lo voltio y lo iso convertible pero el que mas recuerdo es uno del ano1973es por que en ese aprendi a manejar me costaba un trabajo meterle la reversa porque se le tenia que empujar para abajo y no podia pero un dia que se descompuso y lo dejo en la casa me puse a practicar con el motor apagado y al fin aprendi y cuando lo arreglo a mi papa le dio gusto quelo saque de reversa del garage yo apenas tenia 15 anos ya tengo 26

Gracias por el dato; aunque no le quitemos su "mérito" a VW de México, pues si recordamos en los últimos años de producción ya daban la impresión de que el "vocho" ya no les interesaba: Pocos comerciales (Y nefastos), su lista de accesorios se reducía a media página en los catálogos de las Agencias y las "mejoras" se limitaban a detalles que ya habían sacado los VW vendidos en los Estados Unidos desde los 70's. ¡Lástima!

@Shredderman35 WRONG, The Commercial is MEXICAN and the beetle stopped in Brazil in 1996. The beetle stopped in Mexico in 2004. also there was an special run called "last edition" (ultima edicion). Besides, in the commercial they are speaking Mexican Spanish. in Brazil they speak Portuguese

well they dont make them no more so i dont know if the quality has changed but the mexican beetles are very reliable as theyre used as taxis in many cities in mexico i would say at least 80%? anyways this comercial says that the beetle always looks so young because the have never stoped modifying it and adding new stuff so yeah the mexican one obiously had different things than the american one or the german that they stopped producing 30 years before

Don't worry 6of6! We have tons of beetles in all kind of conservation in all Mexico. I know a guy in Juarez City (Crossing the international bridge you're in El Paso, TX.)with a 79 mexican beetle in pristine condition (Original paint, engine and upholstery!)

Así es pero acuérdate que ese modelo se le metió un sistema de ignición sin sin platinos y sin condensador como quien dice un sistema electrónico a base de sensores y el año/modelo 1993 aún traía frenos de tambor en las ruedas delanteras porque así lo ví.

Asi es, pero fijate que en cuestión de desempeño y sencillez prefiero mucho mas el carburador. Digo, tal vez es obsoleto pero no te daba tantos problemas como el fuel inyection y le podías hacer lo que quisieras.

Todo lo contrario mi querido imfercho... en Latinoamérica nos tratan de robar con costosos y complejos mantenimientos para la inyección electrónica... sin embargo, mientras el carburador se le podría hacer como minimo una vez al año el mantenimiento, los inyectores electrónicos sólo se les hace mantenimiento como una vez cada 5 años... y es solo limpieza!!!

The VW Brasilia is the car of the VW of Brazil, launched in 1973, the car is making with the VW Beetle chassi and the motor 1500, this car who inspired the VW manager Rudolph Leiding to launch the VW Golf in 1974.
