And seeing the reply, what a gimp that Gordon Brown is. He could easily drop the tax per litre because he's coining it in while it shoots up - but he won't because he's spent all of Labour's money and is broke.
Him saying he'll have "Further discussion on it in the Autumn" is just a delaying tactic which he thinks will shut him up. He knows Labour are stuff which is why they continue to have their snouts in the trough on MPs expenses, etc, and will continue to do so until 2010. Shameful!
Because it's the same lazy practice that broadcasters use when they're trying to be trendy. You get the point across fine by just doing a piece to camera. It's a question about tax on petrol, not a pop video.
Brown could cut petrol tax temporarily as a short-term solution to the rising cost at the pump, which itself is just based on speculation that's sending the oil barrel price higher.
And in any event, as soon as that oil barrel price increases, so does the pump price - despite the fact they'll have stocks that's got to last some time.
When the oil barrel price does drop, it'll take forever to show at the pump - certainly won't be as quick!
"We've tried to help also motoroist by changes in Vehicle Excise Duty which veer towards supporting the least polluting cars... paid by the more polluting cars."
Which means my car tax will go up from £165 to £260.... Thanks for the help Gordon!
He didn't answer the question!!! You asked him about the tax on fuel and he goes on about the rising cost per barrell!!!
All he said was the he has frozen duty on fuel. Which basically means he isn't doing anything about it!
Yes, the cost per barrell is rising but britain is in a unique position that we have been paying such a ridiculously high tax all this time. With that we can stabalise the cost of fuel in this cunt-ry!
There's really no point in lowering tax on fuel because the oil companies will soak up that cut in increased oil prices. This will equal more private profit instead of money for health & education at home.
The indigestible fact is that oil prices are high because demand is high. (Demand is also increasing in leaps & bounds with growth in places such as China & India).
The ONLY way to significantly reduce oil prices is if we stop buying it!
Apologies - I realise I did make an assumption. I thought you were another one of the masses of people who have erupted with anger purely because they want to pay no taxes (but also want faultless state healthcare! Lol!). Sorry, I guess I just get a bit annoyed by 'something for nothing' people.
this country is fucked i said FUCKED. the only way we will get lower petrol prices is by emmigrating. they keep using these pathitic bullshit excuses like "global warming" and "its a non-renewable energy source" blabl bla what a load of bollocks. if it were up to these tossers we would have no cars and the country would come to an economic standstill.
I asked the same question... I don't mind who gets the answer as long as our question is answered so I voted for your video.
Would appreciate you, and anyone else who wants this question answered to visit the downing street page and search for "Fuel" in the vote section and vote for our questions.
the only one benefiting from this extraordinary fuel tax is the goverments which fill this way their empty safes and accounts in order to pay royaly treated goverment civil servants and do war in Iraq etc!! Not even the enviroment is beeing improved ofcourse because right now there is no alternative to the use of fuel for transportation !, plus fuel hungry big horsepower cars arent being especialy taxed..
seriusly guys ... i think the goverments of the E.U. have agreed with each other to impose this unthinkable fuel duty tax which is 70% !!!!!! of the price of fuel in the UK .. and it varies throughout the E.U. They try to fool as for their pure robery (which is actualy hearting the economy continiusly! espesialy now that the petrolium crude price is so high!!...) by pretending that they are doing this in order to "save the earth" by taxing fuel so as to cut CO2 emissions..
YE WINCHESTER!! wasn't that the bp garage on the road towards badger farm (might be wrong, and it's quite sad I picked that up). Anyway I agree, when i started driving in a couple years time, i don't want to pay so much for petrol on top of college/university fees and any other expensise that appear (though i do intend t scrounge of parents for a while)
What do I use my car for? Driving between 3 cities. I used trains for 5 years, but it took an extra couple of hours and ended up being just as expensive as a car.
Thanks for commenting back :) Yeah trains have that problem due to the goverment not investing in the infrastructure. When it's more expensive to drive will you switch?
brown wont do fuck all to help us, nor will cameron, nor will any other robbing, out of touch politition for that matter.
why?
cos their a den of cunts.

That was my first video, and the prime minister answered it. I'm not complaining. Thanks for watching anyway.

I was just thinking it was a simple but very well done vid myself. Thats probably why it got a response.

Well, it got a response but not an answer.

He actually did.
I asked about the tax on petrol and how it is percentage based.
His reply said the levy was being frozen at its current rate. Further discussion on it in the Autumn.
He also went on to talk about other things relating.

"What Costs are there with 1 Litre of Petrol?"
This breakdown of the price of petrol is based on the assumption of a £1 per litre of petrol.
Petrol Fuel Duty - 48.35p
VAT (17.5%) - 14.9p
Refinery Petrol Costs - 31.75p
Forecourt Costs - 3p
Forecourt Profit - 2p
This means that the forecourt is 5%, the oil cost is ~32% and taxation ~63% of the total cost per litre of petrol.
