I had this happen from time to time when I used to launch Estes rockets. When you bought the launch kit, the launch rod was in 2 pieces and you had to insert one into the other and pound them together. Due to a slight misalignment, you could get the launch guide caught underneath the lip of this misalignment and your rocket would hang from time to time. I solved it by flaring the top of both guides.
I love how he picked up a rocket that was still in coast mode, and hadn't popped the ejection charge yet. It wasn't just 'potentially' explosive, the man picked up a live grenade. Did he keep his eyebrows?
