actually chip music isnt a name he gave it, it's been referred to as that before he "discovered" it.
the name comes from the fact that the sound chips within the consoles have a distinctive sound. for instance the 2A03, the chip found within the NES, was discontinued and it's pretty much impossible to get an emulation of it to sound authentic.
Hate how media types have to rename things. Its computer game music, why the need to name it chip music? so the myspace lot can like it without feeling like a freakin' freak?
its not computer game music. do you make it? no. its called chip music. chip music is an aesthetic where different genres of music are made using the sound chips of computers and video game consoles. before you go and try to sound all smart, get to know your stuff first.
