  • One of Jane Seymour's greater moments. Great Flick

  • Agreed. The book was amazing, sad I finished it. Can't wait to see the movie. The lucky ones in this world are the ones who do find real love. Nowadays though, there's more garbage than gold out there. Careful where you tread...

  • Love is beautiful. The overwhelming feeling of knowing you can trust that one soul, knowing that they're there for you, loving one another with all of your heart, knowing that your home is with them, wherever you go, and loving them for who they are. Not for looks. For love. Forever.

  • What a great clip.Love happens ,in everyone's life once or twice,in a lifetime.It happened here.Take your love to Mackinac Island,Mich.

  • Resurreccion - Somewhere in time

  • Great movie...

  • Sorry to hear about the death of John Barry, his music will always be remembered RIP

  • Jane Seymour = amazing! I love this movie :)

  • This movie is a treasure! A gem. the most romantic movie of all time! Beautiful

  • I watched this chick movie and if was okay...until Jane steps out of her on-stage persona and at the conclusion of her stunning speech says, " I have no words, except for these, I love you." From that moment on, I was in love with love all over again. Who speaks like that? No one I ever knew, until a few days ago when the girl of my dreams reappeared. Now those three words are our life, the only three words that can change the world forever and ever. Amen. I love you, Anngail. D.M.

  • This scene to me is so romantic. It is such a moving touching scene. It is filled with poetic license. Jane Seymour is a true English Rose, flawlessly beautiful, and she really suits the period. It is my favourite part of the film because you can almost see into her soul filled with love and passion. Somewhere in time is one of those films never to be forgotten one that leaves a mark in your own heart throughout your life. Sir John Barry's makes the movie. It pulls at your heart.....

  • The Number one Romantic movie of all time!! My tear flow every time i watch it Jane Seymour is amazing This is a Beautiful, Beautiful film. The chemisty between jane and chris.........Am so jelous.

  • Jane Seymour/SOMEWHERE IN TIME(1980)--Soliloquy/ "The Man Of My Dreams"/Great Audition Piece.

  • the best movie but u must be romantic ...i saw it houndred times...

  • 2 years and no comment....what! I love jane seymour!!!!

  • I too, Once had a powerful love such as this!! Even after all these years, I still hurt over the pain and the loss. My life has been filled with sleepless nights and a broken heart. You came and changed my life, in ways that words can not explain. All I can ask, Come Back To Me, I will be here waiting for your return.......Love always David Michael............

  • If there is a better, single, standout,on screen outpouring of love Show it too me.

This is one of the greatest underrated movies ever laid to celluloid.

    Rest in peace Christopher.

    Live in peace Jane.

  • Everytime I see this scene my throat gets tight and my eyes fill with tears. If only everyone could find such a love. Jayne Seymour steals my heart. This movie is wonderful.

  • My absolute favorite movie of all time. This scene makes me actually tremble inside! The following scene where she is having her photo made and has trouble "striking" the right smile for the photographer, but then he shows up and her face and eyes take on that "glow" is a masterpiece scene as well. The critics called this movie a "sleeper". How they came up with that opinion, I have no idea. This movie is absolutely heavenly - scriptwise, cinematography-wise, and soundtrack-wise.

  • i totally agree, one of the best romance movies ever....and the acting is amazing. The music is so haunting, and sad. my cousing passed away five years ago at the age of 30, and this was his all time fave movie so everytime i hear the song, i always remember him...he is dearly missed

  • Leela, I am so very sorry for you. But, . . . what an absolutely gorgeous way of remembering your very much loved cousin. I can't think of any music that would be better suited to remember someone you dearly loved and cherished. God bless you and may your cousin continue to rest in the presence of the Lord.

  • @Sealust50 I think that what they meant was that it didn't do so well in the Box Office, but that it took off in popularity, later. The first time I saw it was on the cable channel HBO.

  • Oh yes. This is my favorite scene in the whole movie too. When I was kid I wanted to be an actress and I would do this scene in my room all by myself. I actually had tears in my eyes when I did the scene though. I was such a dork LOL.

Anyway Jane Seymour is such a Wonderful Wonderful actress! I love her. She was simply amazing in this scene!

  • My favorite scene in this movie, it seems like she means every word she says, a most beautiful and lovely lady. Women don't talk like this anymore...

  • Amor mio mi más dulce recuerdo mi bien amado Hicham.

  • " Outstanding!" " She is so Beautiful, Eloquent,...and her Soliloquy to Him, is just Timeless!"

  • nice scene

  • id like to say i have journeyed through this life and came across lots of people with the mind of wisdom thought so deeply by them but to me every word was thought through only to their standards but this man she is describing i have found due to god.

  • One of the most beautiful moments in this movie.

  • this is the best scean in the whole movie and the ending!!!! love this move!!!

RIP Chris Reeve <3 love ya Jane seymour!!!!

  • the man that i knew has become a different person he used to be the man shes describing i hope i didnt insult him but hes gone things have changed i want that man back i can relate to this movie a thousand times thanks

  • To what type of British accent does the maid have?? Is it Kettering??

  • I have been on the Island much of this movie was filmed on. It is so beautiful there. The Grand Hotel where you see some of the characters, is very stately. I really like the old quaint library found in this Hotel.

  • Gosh, She is so beautiful.

  • That is the most romantic scene in any movie ever made, without question. No competition exists.

  • This clip is so very beautiful, and this movie one of the best romantic films I have ever watched.

  • best part of the movie! thanks!

  • Beautifully crafted and beautifully delivered lines.

  • what a cool scene! i just love it!

  • Kowei526, hi, the man under the stage was a requirement in 'old' stage theatre to reciprocate on any script lines. the idea is that they would ensure that the script is followed. Nowadays, this is still there, just not on the stage. Thought i'd clear that up as i work in this area. happy days!

  • Does anyone know the name of the song playing at the beginning of this clip?

  • the song is called "the man of my dreams".

  • Thank you, now I get it!

    Happy new year!: )

  • Classic!!! But I was wondering why there's a man stayed under the stage at 00:01? Could anyone tells me? Thank you!

  • I love this movie too!The Man under the Stage is known as a "Prompter",in case they forget their dialogue. Its probably Computerised these days

  • Re: Reeves (standing out in the audience) give es a bow from the waiset...and a "nod of the head"

Not without precedent--I am privledged to know a US Marine who uses this very same mannerism when shaking hands. A very formal forward nod of the head.

He would certainly be surprised to hear this come up (and so I would go out of my way NOT to raise the subject to him personally. He deserves better.

  • What's with all your commenting on this? You must have really loved this movie!! Did you write the screenplay or something like that?

  • @ 1:23, everything changes.

And at 3:11 the burden quite cleary shifts onto HIS shoulders.

And what a lucky...lucky...LUCKY man he is.!

  • Followup to previous: In the more "modern era" (but not necessarily completely modern), one might also look to "Huey Lewis and the News" to hear the song "Stuck With You*," from their album "Fore!"

[*just one other thoroughly excellent song among so many from that particular album....]

  • FWIW, I think this monologue (best monologue I ever heard, BTW), is the pinnacle...and the crux...of this fine film.

If any man hasn't already fallen in love (on at least some level) with Jane Seymour before reaching this part in the movie, this should do it.

And if he still doesn't at this point, then, IMO, he's dead. But he just hasn't realized it yet....

  • What man wouldn't feel incredibly fortunate to be the target of THAT PARTICULAR monologue? Only an idiot, I say!

Sadly, few of us will ever be that lucky.

And even more sadly, even fewer of us will ever be deserving of it. :)

Oh well. We are what we are, and if we are smart we're glad the gals still love us anyway.

    I know I am.

  • HT - REMEMBER

  • muy bella escena cuando alice le declara su amor a richrd...fernando de peru

  • ..mine too Mystic, especially this scene!! Awesome. I am off to Mackinaw Island this weekend:)

  • Does the hotel in the movie look like the actual one at Mackinaw Island?

  • my all time favorite movie!!!!!!

  • Actually, Christopher Reeve was there. He was so moved by Joyce's (Jane) performance that he needed to phone his wife Dana to tell her that he loved her!

  • Well, actually, do you have the 20th Anniversary DVD? Watch the behind the scenes-- they relay the story Rippingyarns did. Jane performed it ONCE with the entire audience there, including Chris, but something was wrong with it, so she had to do it again only to Richard!

  • My bad. Hadn't seen the footage in a long time. Sorry.

  • Oh, that's absolutely fine! *gives big thumbs up and grins* Just so long as joo' like Somewhere in Time, I'm fine! (Which is obvious.)

  • This is true...and according to the book about the making of SIT, Richard was so stirred up he had to fly home to his wife that very day! LOL. I thought that was a sign of some hellagood acting on the part of Jane Seymour :)

  • Sorry, he didn't marry Dana until 1992, and this movie was made in 1980. According to Wikipedia, "The final scene between Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour before Reeve's character is thrown back into his own time was difficult for Reeve to shoot because he had just learned that his then girlfriend and companion, Gae Exton, was pregnant with his first son, Matthew, so for much of that day his attention was understandably elsewhere."

  • i love this movie....when jane performed these lines used in the film, the audience was not there. the only person in the audience was richard matheson, author of the book the film is based on (bid time return). jane was actally speaking to him in this clip. he was so moved by janes performance he had to leave the set and returned home.

  • pretty cool piece of trivia man..it really is a great part for Jane.

  • Were you there?

  • I love this clip. i used her monologue for auditions as well.

  • I LOVE THIS FILM!!! I am the only 16 yr old I know that is completely in love with this film, let ALONE know what it is. I am soooo in love with it OMGOSH!!!!

  • sukakawenkawen, u always have the best clips of the movie, this is also one of my fav parts...how sad, yet so romantic...

i yearn for that feeling again..

i wish i could fall in love again and live happily ever after

  • yeah,.,all part & scene i luv it...the kiss superb ahhhh..

  • i love this line. I wish to wear the same dress on my wedding day.

  • best of the scenes in this movie!!!!!!!! gosh you just fall in love with the words she said!

  • Does anyone happen to know the name of the song at the beginning of this clip?

  • the soundtrack is on cd. somewhere in time... by jhon barry. he composed the indescent proposal score as well

  • Beautiful and Tear-Jerking......BRAVO! ENCORE! ^_^
