you can never walk where you wanna walk in great lakes. you don't step on any grass and you always follow a pattern. it sucks cuz you got no freedom whatsoever during "P days" and sometimes they won't let you shower for like 5 days and everyone stinks
This brings back some memories. Went into the Navy in 1965, graduated boot camp in Feb of 1966 but did not have a parade because ADM Nimitz passed away and all the "brass" went up to his funeral. Had to do mess cooking for about six months but the month I turned 18 the navy sent me to Vietnam(happy birthday)! I retired after serving 23 years . I was proud of what I did and the service. I was proud of the young men and women I trained and lead in my final years in service.
I just found this beautiful video. We go this week to see our son graduate on 9/16 and I am awed with the discipline and pride that all these sailors carry into this event. God bless all our service people and I hope they always know how proud we are of them.
wow, in the army all we got was hearded into a theator listened to save a horse ride a cowboy and that was about it, damn and navey was my first choice lol
I have a question, when they do a counter march. Do the guidons still lean the guidon on their belly on the dress whites? Won't that get the Guidon's dress white jumper dirty?
This is just a beautiful amazing video! Thank you! My son graduates in two weeks. I can't wait to be there to see him. God bless all of our men and women and their families serving this blessed Nation world wide! God Bless The United States of America! Go Navy!
I graduated from GLTC on Flag Day, June 14, 1967 in a special ceremony at Soldiers Field in Chicago. 10,000 sailors came together to participate. After we circled the field we gathered in the middle with colored cloths over our head to form a giant American Flag which was photographed from the air and broadcast on the news.It was an amazing day, as is any day when a young American successfully completes the first step in serving their country. Thanks for sharing....Great Video!
Love this video... i graduated sunday from here.. 5 dislikes??? wtf thats probly some fukin terroists... Great song to.. i loved basic training at great lakes naval base.. good food i met many new best friends there
@erion628 ~FYI~ In formation the Sailors are positioned according to height (a height line), unless they are designate a special role (RPOC, AROC, Flag Bearer, etc) The formation is NOT configured according to accommodate for race nor in an effort "to make a nice balanced pattern."
@Luishazong Your going to have to salute me, only lazy people go in the military as enlisted. Im going to medical school next year and the navy is going to pay for everything, and im going to come in the navy as an O3. Be smart kids dont join right after high school, go to college, come in as an officer and get paid way more.
@AtheneLoseslul You dont know what you are talking about, and you have a disgusting attitude. Just so you know, I was studying International Relations at University but couldnt wait for 3 more years to start serving my country and living the Navy life. So it has nothing to do with LAZY. I left my family, my friends and my entire life back in Mexico City just to have the honor to be in the Navy.
So really think twice before you open your big mouth.
@xZeroGravityDeath DONT!!!, I think it will be the best experience of my life! (or not haha) but i sure cant wait to live something like that, its a once in a lifetime thing!
Be positive and enjoy every minute of it, take it for what it is, it wont be a walk in the park, but love each thing for what it is, i dunno to much BS hahaha but youll like it!, i know i will!! :D (I leave in Sept )
Wow this video is so much better with the mute button on! haha just playin jeff, i appreciate a look inside of the Great lakes basic training, thank you. Ima be shipping out to boot on June 13. and in the words bart scott, " CAN'T WAIT"!!
@eaglepoacher You'll have a blast...well first week or so isn't the best, but it gets better, and it's a piece of cake, got any questions about what "really" goes down shoot me a message, Good luck future shipmate!
@betty5boop it just depends on how many divisions are graduating that day. This friday only 7 are and my sailor said that if we bring a few more, after everyone is already in thats on the list, they will be able to get in.
Great video. I graduated from here back in 1964. I guess about the only difference is that we were in the old drill hall and in dress blues. Thanks for the memories, love it.
Oh, this was a fun day! But definitely remember the countless hours of practice it took to prepare for this...along with all the other crap we went through, LOL. Wouldn't trade it or any my navy experience for the world though
Great stuff...the music is the icing on the cake. I graduated in December of 1994 (Company 025). I still have my graduation on VHS (somewhere). Thanks so much for posting this.
I remember when my brother graduated.I was sooooooo proud of him. He was Div. 319. My brother was part of the "head duty" i think its called. He had to clean the bathrooms lol. @enklive, I just graduated Oct 8 2010, The whole ceromony is about 2 hours total, or at least thats what it seems like for us standing there lol but its worth it its a good thing to watch, u wont be dissapointed
i went to boot camp here has anyone besides myself noticed that it's only whites and american born blacks that serve. why is that? no hibes, mussies, bin laden, asians, jamaicans, hatians, or any other third world welfare cheat that comes here for the free welfare benefits that this stupid country hands out while our taxes go up to support these foreign bums. at least this is what goes on in the large cities where you see the cells of them in millions. when is this F*&^ country going to wake up.
@rammstein11004 idk what you're talking about shipmate, the first thing i noticed when i reported to my first command was the large amount of foreigners serving, with me being one...especially asians and hispanics, thers a lot of them
@mbaretta71 thank you how about hibeebs and ragheads carribeans, jamaicans , hatians africans, ones here but just robbing the country blind from free benefits that they don't deserve or never earned welfare, food stamps free medical ,housing SSD SS and Workers Comp how the F*&^ they qualify for that who the F*&^ knows the country is so F up.. but anyway thanks for the good news i m glad to see that some progress is being made along some lines but they should still reenact the draft thats fair.

I thank each and every one of the individuals who went through this. My husband was the lead snare in the drum core. Thank you so much. We are truly blessed to have brave ones among us.
1982-1986 Co- 105 I went to boot camp and MM-A school there. the winters were rough a lot of snow and wind. carrying around rifles that didnt shoot sounded strange to me back then. things recruiters dont tell you. ASMO being set back a week in boot camp. if you failed one of there weekly tests. some guys were doing an extra 2-3 weeks of boot camp. MTU which i had to do once myself ,while everybody else gets to go to sleep you get to do an hour of rifle PT. they have a ambulance standing by .
I graduated from this same hall in 1990, co. 948. I only did four years, but I can honestly say this graduation was the best, surreal. Unless you actually did it, there is no words. I recognize this hall, I ran miles of laps around it. It was all men recruits back then, every friday you could smell the perfume from the tours going around. I wouldn't change it if I could, had a great experience the entire time.
Thank you very much for this video! I really like the music and the whole idea it give me, I'll be ready!! My son graduation will be in less than a month and I'll be there!
I HOPE I COULD HAVE A FULL VIDEO OF THAT DAY! Thanks again!
I was on the drill team and during graduation we would be in one of the rooms at the back of the drill hall sleeping until the end of graduation whenever it wasw inside. We used to love that
does anyone know how to find old graduation videos or even the grad book from my old division. All mine was lost in a house fire. IIf anyone does email me at perkslimo@aol.com
Enjoy your footage of the graduation.... What a wonderful moment..... My daughter is graduating on 8/13/2010 I'm in tears already. God Bless America and our Troops.
I loved this. My boyfriend just left for boot camp a few days ago- not knowing his general orders, face movements or anything really necessary to spare a few pushups. But I know that by the end, he will be one of the proud sailors of the US. I'm next- Leaving november 15th.
@EyeSowwyMama Waaao your boyfriend must be with my son, he graduate in abouth a month. Their doing okay, I'm so proud to be a parent of a sailor of the USA, congratulation, for your boyfriend and for you too, Thank you all for your service!
@EyeSowwyMama Congratulations!! My son graduated 8/6/10. ship 12, Div 268. It was absolutely wonderful. Make sure you bring a box of tissue. When those doors open and you see all the sailors march in. You are going to feel so proud, you will cry.
@s4andy63 Oh I know I will. He called me today after completing Battle Stations and he said that when the RDC shook his hand he broke down completely. I'm flying out tomorrow. Crying just thinking about it. Lol.
This video is wonderful, the song is the song that we heard after we passed what is called battle stations which is an all night drill scenario that breaks us down physically and emotionally. IT is the culmination of all the training and physical fitness that we prepare through the whole time we are at bootcamp. IT is an emptional time when we take off our "recruit" ball caps and exchange them for Navy ballcaps.
HOW COME SOME MARCH IN WHITE AND SOME OTHER GRADS IN OTHER VIDEOS MARCH IN BLACK COATS? IS THERE A DIFFERENCE?

I loved this. My boyfriend just left for boot camp a few days ago- not knowing his general orders, face movements or anything really necessary to spare a few pushups. But I know that by the end, he will be one of the proud sailors of the US. I'm next- Leaving november 15th.

WEEK ASS SONG
volcompunksk8r 1 year ago
This video is wonderful, the song is the song that we heard after we passed what is called battle stations which is an all night drill scenario that breaks us down physically and emotionally. IT is the culmination of all the training and physical fitness that we prepare through the whole time we are at bootcamp. IT is an emptional time when we take off our "recruit" ball caps and exchange them for Navy ballcaps.
