Just went and got me a RM1X today , on page 39 of the manual now , but got to get some sleep before i tackle the rest ,. had some great fun today playing with the preset patterns, there is some good stuff to use as a basis to get going.
@Outyou23 Thanks, i think at the little pauses....i don't know if are drops...sorry i'm noob, i would like to make dubstep drops (but for sure i need a better learning on the machine).
This is pretty fucking sick. I'm using a buddy's RM1x because we have one in the studio and I know it has a lot of production potential, but no of us have taken the time to really learn it, so I'm taking on the challenge.
Great job, congratulations! I have the unit myself so I understand what you've done there and it's great! Never thought of using my old equipment for something so modern. Glad you proved me wrong! :)
Better than all the demo presets of that beast. Nice work Dude, sounds great, you give the will to get mine out of its box were it sleeps since 2006... :)
I just inherited my step dads rm1x and I am just clueless on how to use it I barely figured out how to change the voices any tips on how to create a pattern?
Sick song due, great work! i don't understand though how this video says all the sounds are from the rmx1, when you can't sample with it and that's clearly a drum sample of Amen Break. What's the deal? I have one of these, some dude left it at my house, and I've never even turned it on, if I can get these kinds of sounds out of it then i will for sure be using it. what patches are you using?
@motionate hi there, thanks :), in one drum patch (i thing is "jungle" or somthing like this, can't remember now) are sperated kick, snare and hit hat wich sounds like amen break. I simply create a loop with this 3 sounds and tweak a pitch knob.
@Dubersive There are zero samples on the RM1X. If you want an amen break (albeit played out) you'd have to sample it yourself on a different machine or just make one yourself on the RM1X
I've been looking at Korg Electribes and the RM1X on youtube with a view to buying one. My friend reckons this rm1x isn't a patch on a korg, but I'm not convinced. THANKS TO YOU !! :)
This track sounds every bit as good as all the electribe clips I've seen... If not better.
Can anyone throw some light or an opinion on this dilemma for me please !!?
I also looked at am E-MU MP7 which looks pretty groovy too !!
That's interesting what you say about the sequencer being better. I have a Yamaha DJXIIB which is considered rubbish in terms of it's sounds. but fed through a Roland EF303, Kaoss pad and an Alesis airFX.. some awesome stuff can be produced. But here's the thing alot of people don't realise, is that it's midi clock capabilities are second to none.. worth buying one for that alone !!
I have a friend who used to be a sound engineeer for pink floyd who swears by them for that.
Awesome, something to learn folks, the pitch bending is just awesome, the only thing I would like is you to make more ;) please? make more so the world will be happy? or at least youtubers...
hey, im thinking about buying one of these, and i saw it for sale at a second hand instrument store.. the only problem i saw with it was that the buttons on it required quite a lot of pressure to respond (more than my emx1) so i had to give them a good tap for the sound to come out on keyboard mode... is this how the machine is made, or is the one i saw faulty? i dont wanna buy something that doesnt work the way its supposed to.
don't worry, its normal, . When you writting a pattern or tuening on/of parts it's not a problem, but when you play on this buttons as a keyboard it isn't so good, but you can connect some midi keyboard to RM1x via midi. :)
sweet, thanks... i might get a better price cause of it... but yeah i never thought of controlling it midi keyboard.. also how do you find the wave editing functions on it for the synth??? do you have many control options???
my guess as rm1x owner would be that he overdub-recorded a cutoff-sweep using the cutoff knob.
i did that quite a few times. i loved to freak out with combinations of cutoff sweeps and manual lfo speed changes. since every midi event can be recorded in overdub mode you can play around with the conrols in real time and conserve what you did.
sweeeet dude...wich sound do you use for your wobble/bass line ... i mainly use the sounds from an other synths..never found a good sound for the wobble on the rm1x

Hi,
Can this send midi notes?
ie: can you make a pattern and then via midi have it play the sounds in a rack synth such as an emu orbit?
SONGSTICKS 5 months ago
@SONGSTICKS Yes see page 36 , there you will see you can even setup individual midi tracks to midi out instead of the RM1X,s Tone Generator

I think they're both good.
Some of the Korgs have deeper synth engines, not just ROMpler based.
I believe the RM1x has the better featured sequencer for controlling external gear.
I think RM1x cops some bad publicity for its internal sounds; however, I think it's a matter of how the sounds are used.
