The side rails are about 9 in. and the back cross member is about 3 in. across, set in about 7 in. from the bow point to create room for the rubberband/paddle assembly. Bottom is cut to fit triangular opening and sealed. This was a fun project and we hope yours is successful. Good luck.
how far could this potentially go? i have to do the same thing for my physics cclass and i need to make it go 2 meters... is this possible with that design?
The tub we tested it in was nearly 2 meters in length so I'm sure the design would surpass that distance . In fact, we were somewhat surprised by the ease which "Bob" covered the tub length.The potential distance would more likely depend on the paddle and the type and quality of the rubber band used. Good luck.
thanks! i'm also making an energy model.

Hey how did u get the elastic band to stay on the paddel thingy?

@chonnywanabe
We used small zip ties around the rubber band on each side of the paddle to secure it and then cut the excess.

did you just super glue everything together?
dayder102 1 year ago
@dayder102
We used generous amounts of wood glue around all the edges and contact points and added a small wood screw ar the bow for reinforcement.

ahh, the power of torsion, if you want to make one of these go faster, use a thicker rubber band, and double loop it
