  • Just so everyone knows...you can go on Amazon.com and buy this

  • where is "my summer story" ?

  • @DreamsofCentaurs I did not care for "My Summer Story". The casting was all wrong, in my humble opinion. Does any one scene in that movie jump out to you, DreamsofCentaurs?

  • I could imagine having that windmill in my yard. I actually think it's cute. HOWEVER, who would want NOT ONE, but TWO pink flamingos and a white plastic donkey? As Jeff Foxworthy would say you're probably a redneck.

  • 1:58 Fuzzhead (Daphne Shepherd)! *^_^*

  • doogie howsers dad! james b. siikiing?

  • this was my favorite movie... needs to be on dvd my tapt doen't play anymore

  • Never understood why this isn't on DVD! I like this sequel a lot more than " A Summer Story" LOL

  • Its buried in the Disney Vault and will never come out. This should be played at Christmas time to counter the never ending reruns of the original Christmas Story for crying out loud.

  • A Summer Story was supposed to be the 'sequel' of A Christmas Story.

  • All were adapted from short stories written by Shepherd.

  • MY GOD, this has more dialog than the one I knew! My version was edited damnit!

  • this movie is a classic!! You just can't beat Mr. Shepards' narrations....

  • Years ago, I recorded this off the Disney Channel and our family would watch it often. We'd usually fast forward through most of the fuzzball subplot at the beginning because it took so long to get through.

  • I agree that the Fuzzball subplot seemed like unnecessary filler which I do not remember from any of Shepherd's short stories. Too bad they could not have just worked more material from the Ollie Hopnoodle short story into the film.

  • You should post the whole movie. I use to watch this every year at the begining of summer with my family before our vacation. We still have at on a VHS tape at my parents house. Good memories.

  • dude - the branch at the end......and the music. laugh my fat ass off

  • Wahahaha!!! I LOVE this movie. I love the "salmon salad surprise" scene. Genius. :-) Watched it all the time as a kid. It really is a shame it was never released on DVD.

  • This movie is classic! Right there with "A Christmas Story" I love the part when Ralph got his first Job. I swear that thats what my 1st job was like. Thankfully I had presence of mind to record it.

  • That was Jean Shepherd himself, playing the role of the slave-driving boss, Mr. Scott.

  • This movie is a classic. Almost as good as A Christmas Story. I only saw it once. It was a VHS copy that our local video rental store had but when I went back to find it it was gone.

  • I worked as the Disney Channel unit publicist on this movie, on location in Framingham, MA and Nagodoches, TX. Sad but I haven't been able to locate a copy. I've been trying to get in touch with Fred Barzyck, the director, for years. If anyone has contact info for him, please post it!

  • ah, i love this, the camera work is shit though.

  • I last watched this movie on TV in the late 80s. I love it. Where can I buy the DVD?

  • This movie was never released legitimately on DVD. The last release was VHS and it's been out of print for quite a while.

  • Alphacontrol is right, there isn't a dvd, but it was put on VHS. I searched forever, and I do mean forever, for this movie and found it years ago on an ebay sale. It's from Disney, and called Ollie Hopnoodle's Haven of Bliss. Use all those keywords and you'll find one. I don't think it's as funny as Christmas Story but it's a keeper and love anything Jean Shepherd.

  • I paid 40 dollars for a professional bootleg vhs version of this on ebay. Oh well better than the long gone worn out copy we taped off disney channel 20 years ago.

  • DUED i havent seen this for four years

    awsome this movie is classic.!!!!

  • i thought only a handful of people on the planet would know about this film, its a breath of fresh air to know its getting recognized again

  • Was that Dorothy Lyman playing the wife?

  • Yes it was. Dorothy is probably best known for playing Naomi Harper on the "Mama's Family" TV series (1983-1990).

  • I love the scene where the family ets stuck behind the chicken truck! LOL!

Thanks for uploading this! I wish I still had this movie!

  • haha. i used to watch this all the time.

"Let's go, it's getting late, we are not going to buy any junk today!"

/leaves with giant windmill on top of car.

    PRICELESS!

  • OH the memories I have of this movie, I wish they had it on DVD

  • you can release the DVD anytime soon! : )

  • one of my very very few favorite comedies of ALL time. ahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. the dad is just like my dad ahahahahahahaha.

they need to bring this to dvd. its a hidden comedy treasure of treasures.

  • "Just once I'd like to get to Ollie Hopnoodle's before nightfall!"

    XD

  • I use to rent this movie all the time. I finally have a copy of my own. This movie is about a regular family taking a regular vacation. Nothing fancy. Thank God for Jean Shepherd.

  • "Slob art" - lol!

  • I love this movie! I hadn't seen it in ages.

  • Interesting sidenote: Grannie's story about the Mexican made out of bread dough was cut out of future airings of this telefilm!

  • this video is totally fun and enjoyable. Thank you so much for adding it on YouTube.
