All you need to do is pick up on that (which is very hard but doable for Derren). I hate people who think its fake right from the start, go to a life show and be bowled over. its not particularly true that people are not disturbed by others intimate secrets. when its homosexuality they aren't surprised because usually it comes out in your character before it does in your words. so they are likely to have accepted or adjusted. doesnt mean that they are not bothered. in a lot of ways people are naturally intuative and thus become desensitized to shocking info and sort of just look at you or whatever and say "well of course your gay or bi or a serial killer"
