  • Awesome Diane Keaton a very fine actress receiving her Oscar from Janet Gaynor (first Best Actress winner) and Walter Matthau, with whom she would star and direct in his last film HANGING UP.

  • happy, happy birthday, diane keaton!!! 66 years young today, 1-5-2012! you still seem to me to only be not a day over 35! love ya!!

  • I will always love and adore Diane Keaton. Such an incredible and friendly talent! So happy she won for Annie Hall. It's one of my favourite films!

  • Shirley MacLaine's reaction is priceless! She's trying so hard to be happy.

  • I think Liza Minnelli should have been at least nominated for New York New York. Such an underrated performance in such an underrated film...

  • What a wonderful actress! Most of the acclaim for acting in the Godfather films goes to Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, James Caan, and Marlon Brando, as it should. However, I think she also did a great job! I personally don't see why she won for this film, but she definitely deserves to have an Oscar! Great actress!

  • I thought that was a coon cap on her head at first... had to do a double take

  • Was she high ? =)

  • MRS.CORLEONE !!

  • Why is there a man in the upper right?

  • wow - it's a little annoying that all the comments here focus on her dress. she's such an idiosyncratic personality and talent. that is what we should appreciate.

  • @ooks --I so agree with you! She is one of a kind : ) and I think she's amazing!

  • @ooks amen.

  • IM REALLY DIGGIN HER VEST!

  • @jomasterjoe Muhahahargh!

  • is is beautiful

  • I just need to say taht Diane Keaton is one of the most unattractive actresses I have ever seen. I saw in person once and wished I had not.

  • wow.....i thought that was a coon cap on her head....jokes on me

  • the hair... lolz jk i love diane:)

  • @tamerswan actually she isn't playing herself. Other people who know her say that she's not as Annie Hall as people think. She's smart and a very tough lady. She is eccentric, but the whole ditzy, sugary sweet thing is a persona.

  • Where's Woody?

  • @Aurora0Lights she and shirley maclaine were both nominated for their starring roles in "the turning point". just thought i'd let you know.

  • "And the winner is.... Diane Keaton for Annie Hall"

And up steps Yenta the bag lady.

  • liked her best in WA's Sleeper - her doing Brando was the highlight of her comedic career & always gives me belly laughs

  • @ZiuoxZui Her outfit IS a little unusual for such a ceremony, but Diane Keaton has always been kind of a rebel when it came to fashion. The "Annie Hall" look was actually kind of popular for awhile, as many women were adopting a similar look back in the day thanks to the movie.

  • @calchick82 Women are copying the Annie Hall look right now! It's very popular right now. A lot of young stars are ripping off Keaton's look right from the movie.

  • Jane fonda is a traitor!

  • Simply the best performance ever... Its reality and naturality is breathtaking and she proves that you can give a towering performance without huge breakdowns. :)

  • @dinasztie I couldn't say it better, that's exactly what I've always thought about this performance.

  • @dinasztie I wouldn't say it's the best ever but it's one of the most iconic ever.

  • @dinasztie I wouldn't say it's the best ever, but it's one of the most iconic ever.

  • What an ugly decade the 70s were.

  • @MoeGreensRightEye and that's an understatement

  • Nice actress, specially in The Godfather trilogy,Reds, and in Woody Allen movies.

  • this lady is exceptional! able to do comedy or drama magnificently! shoot the moon, crimes of the heart, looking for mr goodbar, manhattan murder mystery, baby boom, the other sister, father of the bride, reds, mrs. soffell, harry and walter go to new york, and, of course, annie hall! sweet, lovely, talented! one of a kind!

  • @Likeadiamondsnake One of my favorite actresses. I think her two best performances were in LOOKING FOR MR. GOODBAR and REDS.

  • this lady is a wonderful actress!! able to drama or comedy magnificently!! shoot the moon, looking for mr. goodbar, manhattan murder mystery, baby boom, crimes of the heart, father of the bride, the other sister, mrs. soffel, reds, harry and walter go to new york, and, of course, annie hall! charming, lovely,TALENTED!! one of a kind!

  • diane is annie hall

  • She's so charming

  • her smile is enough.

  • Sounds like she was still playing the part!

  • anne bancroft deserved that oscar

  • @Omnicron777 He's the loyal opposition

  • I'm glad hair styles have improved since the 70s.

  • Please, this award was given for her performance in Mr. Goodbar. I'm a huge Keaton's fan though.

  • Man, give that woman a cigar for getting up there and getting off in a hurry!!

  • how many times was Shirley mcClaine nominated for an Oscar... ?

  • @cacay21 Five times for 'Some Came Running,' 'The Apartment,' 'Irma la Douce,' 'The Turning Point,' and her win for 'Terms of Endearment.'

  • she just makes me smile! LOVE diane keaton!

  • she didn't deserved

  • @Rat1993a anda i que te den

  • One of the greatest winners ever in any category.

  • Short n Sweet :)

  • So. Effing. Deserving.

  • Suck it, Shirley!!! Diane owns!

  • The greater the star, the shorter the speech, don't you think?

  • Say what you will about Diane's fashion sense here and now in her older years, and this outfit is not so great, but in the actual movie Annie Hall I thought her looks were very cool and chic. In fact, these little wanna be hip starlets today still copy her look from Annie Hall. She looked cute in that movie

  • Please post the moment that Woody won for Annie Hall but didn't show up! Thanks!

  • In your hart and mind you really want to believe Diane is from Chippewa Falls.

  • She never learned how to dress lol

  • Diane Keaton is a true class act.

  • She was ACTUALLY like annie hall

  • @majesticmaniac Did you know her name is Diane Hall? :D

  • I love her outfit!!! Diane has a killer style that all her own!

  • @johnyzero2000

I couldn't agree more. Diane looked so amazing. I mean, she had a look that was all her own. She absolutely owned the room that night!!!

  • Keaton's eccentric wardrobe in Annie Hall, which consisted mainly of vintage men's clothing, including neckties, vests, baggy pants, and fedora hats, made her an unlikely fashion icon of the late 1970s.

  • Keaton's eccentric wardrobe in Annie Hall, which consisted mainly of vintage men's clothing, including neckties, vests, baggy pants, and fedora hats, made her an unlikely fashion icon of the late 1970s.

  • Trouble is Diane wore this ugly crap for the next 35 years.

  • i liked that out fit don't really see anything wrong with the outfit except for the pants under it .

  • alguien sabe como consigo wildflower 1991.

    download free this movie wildflower

i from colombia.she is the better.

  • big 70s hair everywhere!

  • thought that was a russian skin type hat on her head lOL

  • Could you upload Annie Hall winning best director and picture?

  • boy what a lady

  • I do believe that Nat's mother, Maria Gurdin, sitting next to her. Ms. Gurdin was very active in raising money with the Motion Picture Actor's Home. She passed away January 6, 1998 at the age of 85 more than sixteen years after the death of her daughter.

  • @JerseySurvivor That is not Natalie Wood's mother.

If you would like to see pictures of her mother Maria I will give you a link.

Don't know who that woman is.

  • Is she accepting an Oscar or getting ready to teach History?

  • @roscoegino LOL

  • @roscoegino Back then it was about individual style - it was about art of making movies not red carpet E-news hollywood bullshit.

  • WHAT THE HECK IS SHE WEARING?

  • @toughcookie5454 : whatever the hell she feels like wearing which is how it should be.

  • @toughcookie5454

Diane Keaton can get away with her outfit. She's one of the few who can.

  • She should have won for "Love and Death".

  • Most overrated performance and movie ever. Jane Fonda should have won.

  • I want a girl with a hair like that!!!!!

  • she deserved this BIG time!

  • It doesn't matter how old Diane gets; She's still cute as a button :D

  • LOL! this was a women's category right? why is there a man in the top right box

  • @maximillianfilms LOL well spotted!

  • @maximillianfilms Haha very good observation, I LOL'ed at it too

  • Only Diane Keaton could get away with wearing this wonderful and fun outfit at the Oscars!

  • Who are the Presenters??

  • @andrewdisney1 Janet Gaynor and Walther Matthau

  • @Oscars THAT YEAR WAS THE YEAR IT WAS 50 YEARS OF OSCAR AND JANET GAYNER WAS THE 1 ST WINNER IN 1928 , SO SHE PASSED ON THE AWARD 50 YEARS LATER TO THE NEXT LEADING LADY DIANE KEATON

  • How could you not to love her?!

    "...with actresses like Jane FONDA..."

    "that's... something"

One of my favorite Oscar moments.

  • Love Diane, she's so perfect!!!!!

  • She's amazing ditzy and funny in "Annie Hall". But, at the time, I didn't think that she would be the great actress that she has become. Her dramatic performance In "Shoot the Moon" is nothing short of one of the best performances on film.

  • one of the best comedies ever !!!

  • to this day chixx are wearing her sunnglassez in nyc B~)

  • You can never go wrong with the great Diane Keaton - she's the best.

  • I loved her in Annie Hall! :)

  • Quite a horrendous outfit for the Oscars, but so talented and so original - my favorite actress of all time.

  • why is she dressed as... annie hall?

  • She's fantastic!

  • OMG !!!! it's a dead cat on his head??

  • LOL the hair!

  • 0:13 - I didn't know Weird Al Yankovic was invited...

  • What the hell is she wearing?

But that was probably the trend back then

  • she is wearing the annie hall look everyone was copying but she started.

  • dianne always had her own unique style from the succes of the movie, she created that look

  • Shirley was nice about Diane winning though. She said beforehand she knew she was going to win and praised Diane Keaton's talent marveling about how she could do anything, as she showed with Annie Hall and Looking for mr goodbar that same year.

  • Shirly looks like oh boy another loss .All well keep smile

  • best movie ever

  • i love you

  • God she's so lovely. Well-earned award as well (although Mr Goodbar does the trick as well).

  • i love her voice.

  • Presenter was Janet Gaynor and I think the guy looks like Walter Mathau.

Love D Keaton and this flick. One of the best!

  • gotta love that woman

  • Whatever happened to her charming New York accent?

  • @soloterre Keaton is a native Californian, I believe. Not a NYer.

  • La-dee-da, Diane, La-dee-da

  • Who is the Presenters??

  • AAAAAAAAANNIE HALLLLLLLL

  • Beautiful, heartfelt and utterly gracious speech.

  • Marsha should have won.

  • what is she wearing?

  • clothes

  • lol :-)))

  • @TheAnastasiachavez Back then it was about good movies - and performance - not the stupid red carpet - people wore what represented them - not some stupid designer.

  • Totally. That's what I was thinking.

  • Shirley Maclaine's look when she looses is priceless!!

  • one of the best performers ever

  • i will say, though, that jane fonda was also outstanding this year...in any other year, she would've won, but diane was too good to pass up

  • Why didn't they show the other nominees?

  • Best acceptance ever. "Thanks Woody. Thanks everyone."

  • This performance is in a class of its own. one of the oscar's best decisions, hands down, ever.

  • did anyone see wierd al or is it just me

  • i wonder if he was there?!

  • Anyone else get a Katherine Hepburn vibe from Diane Keaton, especially in this clip?

  • awesome hair

  • Wonderful legacy here: Keaton, the 50th Best Actress winner, receiving her Oscar from the first Best Actress, Janet Gaynor.

  • well she deserves it =) annie hall was amazing

  • Shirley is a class act she genuinely looked happy for Diane. I never understood what those BROADS who dated and married Woody Allen. Thank God Diane didnt have a young daughter when they dated or he might have married her. LOL.. Wood and Roman polanski charley Chaplan and Jerry Lee Lewis should have made "The date underage girls Club" a weird 1ST WIVES CLUB.. thats for sure..

  • She has to be the worst dressed actress of all time. I have never seen her at any award show without looking like a train wreck. When she and Al Pacino were an Item he never knew how to dress wither always mismatched and looked sloppy in a tux. I mean when they are home and getting dressed and looking intheir mirrors, WTF do they see? If they see themselves and say "wow I look great!, I want to find where they buy those mirrors. Whenever u seen the old time stars, they always looked awesome.

  • God, you're a shallow twit.

  • Keatons appearance has improved with age but in the 70's clothes were downplayed and that was her style

  • Beautiful woman, great actress but the clothes she was wearing that night were plain dreadful.

  • That was the Annie HAll look! The 1970's was all about- it was all good

  • i love Shirley Maclaines face, when she lost.

  • Woody Allen gave Diane a very nice gift, hell of a boyfriend, hehe.

  • hehe... she can hardly believe it, huh? but i just finished watching Annie Hall and can't blame her for winning!

  • what is she freakin wearing?

  • I was thinking the same exact thing.

  • she made comedy look fucking effortless. say what you want; i think she's one of the best best actress winners ever, without a doubt

  • Yes, I think the other nominees only got a handful of votes. She was classy and natural in "Annie Hall". Add a powerful dramatic turn in "Looking For Mr.Goodbar" and you have clearly the two best performances of 1977.

  • She wears what she wants, and what she wants is fabulous.

  • you are so true! cheers for that comment. lovely

  • post richard dreyfuss's win that same year!

  • She sounds like Sarah Plain a little

  • This five star best actress category for 1977 was well-defined and very strong:

Jane Fonda, Marsha Mason, Shirley McClaine, Anne Bancroft.

  • My, Keaton was just awesome in "Looking for Mr Goodbar" - that movie is a classic!!!

  • when i see Diane it just makes me think of: "It was an abortion Michael!"

  • Short and Sweet.

  • Five actresses were nominated but... who is that guy on the top wearing glasses?

  • well la-di-da, la-di-da!

  • hahahahha!

  • she has a amazing style!!! I mean the way she wear, her acting.... all ...great actress!

  • OMG@ this outfit! ;D

    her hair is soooo...OMG!

I know...different times different style, but that just cracks me up ^^

  • she was a style icon because of annie hall.

  • Ya, know what you mean..

If I see pictures of my parents or my grandparents and their fashion, I often say to myself : What where they thinking?? :P

  • she always dressed like a wagrant all her life ! too bad cause actresses must let us dream too !

  • i love her she is such a good actress but, i wasnt a fan of wat she is wearing

  • In which year what it??

  • In 1977 Diane won an Academy Award, A Golden Globe award and a BAFTA award for Annie Hall. Her influential wardrobe in the film-of her own choice-changed the face of the fashion world at that time. She's a total five star fox!

  • Diane Keaton, is just amazing. I Love her and any of her work! Beautiful lady.

  • She was great in Annie Hall (one of my all-time favourite films) - but best actress award??

  • I think this oscar win was really for Diane Keaton's incredible performance that year in "Looking for Mr. Goodbar" - a film that was way before it's time.

  • I think so, too. She was amazing in "Looking for Mr. Goodbar". And Tuesday Weld should have won, too. The movie is not as good as the book, though.

  • Patience, Shirley, patience!

  • Lol it's funny she won best actress... because from what I can see from this, she wasn't acting at all in that role - she IS Annie Hall
