The only fault I found in this movie was that Freddy didn't make me laugh with his creepy pervy jokes like in all the old films other than that its phenomenal
I don't even care if people think the movie sucked or not, this score is one of the BEST I've EVER heard! I mean, if you just sit down in the dark, close your eyes, and FEEL the music, you feel SO MUCH, it's AMAZING! It's so hard to get so much put just into a mere song, but dear god Steve did it and he did it better than ANYONE could've imagined! Honestly, the score makes or breaks a movie, and I think this score made the movie, it's giving me such a high interest I MUST go see it now!!
This was a good film, it had some really good ideas in it. The thing is that the writers didn't capitalize on those ideas and make them bigger so you pretty much missed them. Also they could have done more than use a jump scare EVERY single time you saw Freddy. The original was creepy since you barely saw Freddy. He was more of a force than a ghost and that made him scarier. New horror films usually fail on these things, but if they were going to remake Nightmare, they should have done it right
@the5chronicles exactly, i didn't think the new film was bad, it just always seemed to barely miss on things when they seemed good. Its hard to explain, but i guess i could say the new film seemed flat and hollow.
If Freddy Krueger were real in modern times, how he's portrayed in the remake is just how he'd probably be; one hell of an evil creep. Everything from the way they did his make up right down to the way he toys with Nancy in the bedroom scene was done so eerily creepy while remaining realistic. How people cannot appreciate just how sick and twisted this movie is blows my mind. The music is perfect for it. Truly dark. This is the Nightmare on Elm Street I originally wanted.
This movie is the best horror movie remake of all time. When I read comments on YouTube trashing this movie, it downright shocks me while upsetting me at the same time. How can anyone not appreciate how well of a job the producers did in remaking this movie? This movie was never intended to be scene-for-scene like the originals. This is what everyone seems to forget. The entire reason for this remake is to bring Freddy Krueger's character to modern times. This movie did a phenomenal job of it.
@john2earth Couldn't have said it better myself. The originals are always great, but I absolutely love the remakes because they don't have that 80's quality feel, but don't think I'm bashing the originals, cause they rocked too :)
NOT that this is bad, I like it. In fact its a shame this was used on a remake, I could see it used on something original, and making that AMAZING, because it is relay relay relay good. I could be hear all day dissecting horror movies.
This is nice, and thats the problem. In my opinion this is one of the great flaws in horror movies today. The soundtracks are too orchestral, what made the soundtracks of the older movies work is that they were simple. Only one or two instruments used, and there beats were simple.
Steve Jablonsky is so talented! You just hear his music and fall in love with it! He deserves to compose better movies! Heck, let him compose Avatar 2!
@a45027 he's rather talented, but not that wise and experienced to compose such movies as Avatar. He did a great job though, the soundtrack is just woah! I can't imagine a better main theme for an A Nightmare On Elm Street remake.
Despite the fact that the original theme is legendary, and very well known... this score is breathtaking to me. Especially this song. It's very... dark, and moving. It's AWE-some.
Some of Freddy' lines in the movie are brilliant. But there's one that I think should be expanded upon.
Jesse: "Oh God"
Freddy: "No, just me. But you were close, though."
I also beleive they borrowed to heavily on the original. A homage here and there is good but there was just too many.

@the5chronicles Yes, but a remake is not supposed to do the same thing the original did. A remake is really supposed to be something different.

This theme is annoying. Why couldn't he try to rework the theme from the original? It's a freaking remake, after all.
