Acording to a report on the incident: "The incident happened when the Carnival Legend started to pull away from the dock while Royal Caribbean’s Enchantment of the Seas was still tied up. A storm coming into the area caused wind gusts up to 60 knots, causing the Carnival Legend to drift slowly towards the Enchantment of the Seas despite it’s the use of its powerful thrusters. Been on Carnival Legend before AND after this accident. This actually occured the week after I was on it. The people blaming the captain in this video make me LOL just because of the simple fact this was because of the strong wind. They should all quit their bitching and be thankful that the Carnival AND Royal captains were able to handle it well and walk away with MINOR injuries to the ship. Shit happens.

The captain is the final word, some captains though put too much faith in their pilots and are afraid to speak up when they know something is going wrong. captain is more responsible for this accident  than the pilot, and it will be the captain that wont be able to find a job, not the pilot.

we were on Legend in August 2009, it was a great ship. Wow this is so unfortunate.

Last year during the hurricane, the ship was so rocky, it was fun though. Cruise ships are actually the safest ones to travel, and i enjoy them. Nothing to worry about, as you know about the C/Splendor, fire and how they brought everyone without any harm. Yea for carnival

People are over-reacting, Too all the first time cruisers do not be scared, cruises are among the safest form of vacation. It was not the captains fault there was an investigation. It was due to the weather and water currents. To the person who said they where shaken, perhaps you over-reacted. No one was hurt. The whole "wow they are pushing real hard" bit amazed me the ship engines could easily deal with it. Both lines have excellent maintenance and I am sure everything was fixed immediately.

you guys have a lot to say for never having controlled a ship in the wind, the captain isn't even in control right now. i have been on over 2,000 cruises as employee of CARNIVAL and passener of carnival -- sure its scary any situation same as a car accident - however local port authorities re responsible for docking the ship and leading them out . Trust me these incidents are rare, and cause no need to panic
