This is animal abuse. It is not the same as in the wild, as these things have a limited habitat space, the goldfish has absolutely nowhere to run or hide, and it's predator is about 40 times the size of it, so it has no chance. Yeah Snake head's are illegal because people would buy them not realizing that you can't keep anything with them, and they would get huge. So people would dump them into lakes or ponds thinking that the winter would kill them but instead it would take that body of water over. Snakeheads are a disease to the fish world.

Im sure if you stuck your finger in a tank with tehm they would probably bite it. They are much more of a danger to the local fish than they are to people. They also have the ability to breathe air and can survive three days out of water. Most likely it will not attack humans, There have been catches of northern snakeheads confirmed in MASS so I would not be surprised if there were isolated populations in NY, If you catch one bring it to your local game and fish department, do not let it go.

Yes I am a future wild life biologist and it is illeagal to bring them to the U.S or keep them as pets, Its not so much the fact that people have them its the fact of what will you do with them when they get too big? If you do decide to break the law, just know its better to kill them humanely than to let them go in a lake or stream, they have no natural predators in the U.S.

They dont all get too big and the same as in Asia big catfish would eat them and in the US big gars too. And bass, pickeral ect would eat the small ones. Seems you have abit of learning to do still before your a wild life biologist.

No, not really, I said they have no NATURAL predators in the US, Cat fish will ocasionally eat live food but for the most part they are bottom feeding scavengers, besides not every fish bigger than baby snake heads know that they can feed on them. even if some native fish are big enough most of them don't just because they are introduced and they don't appear as a meal to most native fish. So I do still have learning to do but not nearly as much as you think.

Yes bigger fish like large mouth bass will eat the babbies but it matters not, as long as some of them make it to adulthood they will continue to kill and eat other large fish. Juts becaue they cant swollow fish of the same sie or bigger whole doesn't mean they still can kill and eat larger fish. They have sharp teeth and a strong bite just like Piranahs only they are much larger. They can bite off large chunks or bigger fish. The native fish have no natural defenses against them.
