@PHONZE45 Its illegal to put them back in the water once you caught them or sell them alive... You can legally buy them as pets though, but once they get old (or too big), you have to turn it in to proper authorities.
This is animal abuse. It is not the same as in the wild, as these things have a limited habitat space, the goldfish has absolutely nowhere to run or hide, and it's predator is about 40 times the size of it, so it has no chance. I would love to throw the owner in the sea with a fucking great white shark, then he would scream 'this is inhuman, this is against the law'. Hypocrite piece of shit.
Although I don't think bad about this guy feeding goldfish, I have to say I agree with you because he was laughing the first time. Who would want to laugh at a poor lil' goldfish ending up in a fish that has a head of a snake???
hmmmm....i see a lot of people commenting abt feeding live fish feeders to predatory fish and reptiles....i was jus wondering....i have never seen someone walking around lakes or rivers, throwing in pellet and flakes food for the fish. and also.....its basically the same thing as humans eating fish, chicken, or pork....u really are killing those animals...oh also..i almost forgot...FYI...pellet fish foods are made from fish protein and sometimes even dried fish :P
You can't buy Snakeheads in the U.s. anymore. They won't ship them due to the fact that too many people who don't know how to take care of them decide to sump them into ponds and lakes.
Yeah Snake head's are illegal because people would buy them not realizing that you can't keep anything with them, and they would get huge. So people would dump them into lakes or ponds thinking that the winter would kill them but instead it would take that body of water over. Snakeheads are a disease to the fish world.
sure, thx :) some people jus dont understand how incredible of a species snakeheads are...especially in their native waters. well they still are incredible monsters in united states :P
Extremely hardy even in the worst water condition & got nasty bites! DON'T WALK but slither like eels when on dry land. Nat Geo & Maryland scientists had preposterous reports, snakehead walked on dry land & survived 4days out of water, using insecticide poisoning entire lake killing more fishes than snakeheads! Failed to consider repercussion of such action thinking the results are inconsequential. Lakes lead to sea & effects maybe accumulatively disastrous with like-minded irresponsible people.
the next life for those nd you who feed live fishes or live animals to their pets-snakeheads, arowana, oscars, gar...will become the live fish or live animal being eaten by a snakehead, etc. nd being filmed for fun at the same time...karma says. haha so it's sad for the snakehead, arowana, gar, oscar keepers. their and your next afterlife is a goldfish, mouse or other small fishes being purchased by another snakehead, etc keeper to feed it to his snakehead, etc.
is that a gar in the tank with the snakehead? and is the tank too small? it looks like it, im not sure how mutch room snakeheads need though, are they very active fish?
Did you see the National Geographic show about Snake Heads? They can walk on land and breathe air and they love jumping out of their tanks. Not a good pet to have.
people exaggerate the facts about them. especially national geogaphic. they made the whole video look like a horror movie. honestly how often do u see fish walking on land?
if you catch one your suppose to kill it right away and inform the game warden you got one, they are very illegal in the us and if your caught with one you'll face jail time and fines, although they are great fish,29 diff species of them to,i loved mine when i had it
Im sure if you stuck your finger in a tank with tehm they would probably bite it. They are much more of a danger to the local fish than they are to people. They also have the ability to breathe air and can survive three days out of water. Most likely it will not attack humans, There have been catches of northern snakeheads confirmed in MASS so I would not be surprised if there were isolated populations in NY, If you catch one bring it to your local game and fish department, do not let it go.
k thanks for the help but wats mass and if i catch one the ony fish place around here are petsmart and i dont think they can handle a snakehead so should i just put it back in the lake i caught it in????
Yes I am a future wild life biologist and it is illeagal to bring them to the U.S or keep them as pets, Its not so much the fact that people have them its the fact of what will you do with them when they get too big? If you do decide to break the law, just know its better to kill them humanely than to let them go in a lake or stream, they have no natural predators in the U.S.
They dont all get too big and the same as in Asia big catfish would eat them and in the US big gars too. And bass, pickeral ect would eat the small ones. Seems you have abit of learning to do still before your a wild life biologist.
No, not really, I said they have no NATURAL predators in the US, Cat fish will ocasionally eat live food but for the most part they are bottom feeding scavengers, besides not every fish bigger than baby snake heads know that they can feed on them. even if some native fish are big enough most of them don't just because they are introduced and they don't appear as a meal to most native fish. So I do still have learning to do but not nearly as much as you think.
?? Yes you got me on the natural bit but thats about it. Plenty of US predators would eat them and alot them them are big enough especially for smaller ones. Its not like there all 24"+. It doesnt take fish long to learn whats food. Which to a big predator is just about any small fish.
Yes bigger fish like large mouth bass will eat the babbies but it matters not, as long as some of them make it to adulthood they will continue to kill and eat other large fish. Juts becaue they cant swollow fish of the same sie or bigger whole doesn't mean they still can kill and eat larger fish. They have sharp teeth and a strong bite just like Piranahs only they are much larger. They can bite off large chunks or bigger fish. The native fish have no natural defenses against them.
You can't buy them, it's illegal to transport them OR keep them as pets. Bush poisoned 2 ponds in MD just to reduce their popoulation. I heard the potomac or some river in MD has alot of you want to try to catch one as a pet but.. I'd like to have one lol but im won't post a video online -_- If the feds wanna trace u they can lol
Dude, I think if you catch or buy a snakehead you are supposed to kill it immediately to keep it from reproducing in America! Unless you live in China, which it sounds like you do.
