I'm not dissing on the game, but SOME missions were too complicated and really hard to get an A rank. Honestly, this could have been the best Sonic(or Shadow, whichever you prefer) game since the first two on the Sega Genesis, but I remember some missions on this game took me almost twenty minutes to complete.

Shadow the Hedgehog was good for wat it was: a spin-off. It had a lot of levels, different missions, and introduced the eariliest forms of the Red Star Rings (remember those keys?)

The trouble with all of the various Sonic characters is that they were mostly shined in the game they were introduced. Tails was pretty awesome to play as in Sonic 3 & Knuckles (although they cut him out of doomsday zone and required you to get the Super Emeralds just to transform...which only happened because the programmers in Sonic 2 were lazy and didn't want to make a Super Tails...), but really:

Tails: Saved Sonic in Sonic 2.

Knuckles: WAS the plot of Sonic 3.

Shadow: WAS the plot of SA2.

i love shadow the hedgehog because the game is almost like cod 7 black ops except there are multiple storylines in shadow the hedgehog, while black ops is two stories into one. and killing black arms with shadow's weapons is like playing zombies, not to mention shadow's SPECIAL weapon box.

I don't really know much about the town missions as I've not really played the game, just watched other people. But ugh the loading, they loaded the entire map. That's why in Generations you can glitch so that it doesn't load part of a level, because they don't do that any more.

@Ephri1 It's an anniversary game. They wanted it to be a throwback to previous games, so NATURALLY they'd, you know, incorporate things from the older games! I've gotta say, though, what sells this game for me is the level design. The classic sections are very complex and thoughtfully laid out, and most of the modern sections are NOTHING like those stupid Unleashed daytime stages. If anything, they're more like Sonic Adventure. See, Unleashed was a step down, but this is actually a big leap up.

Controls were wonky but it was SEGA trying something new again. I think the story was what killed it, they could have left Shadow floating in ambiguity a lot longer than they did and I feel that's why many fans hate him now, he got all this backstory while we don't even know much of anything about the other characters. That turned his personality into "angst" instead of depression over the death of people he loved. =/

If you are refering to Shadow directy after Heroes then yes, that would have added slightly to the mystery, although I think letting him stay dead for longer would have made his return more memorable.
