brilliant song very underated can,t understand the totp audience standing about looking lost they should have been dancing and enjoying themselves to a great tune
It's brilliant how at 0:47 the drummer waves at the camera.... with the drumstick in his hand.... while he's SUPPOSEDLY drumming. Just got to love the undertones.... didn't get the rcognition they deserved. Top notch band
@underock4 I got to admit I never heard of Lone Justice, but I have seen U2, Queen, The Who, Stones, Floyd, Sex Pistols, Jam, Clash, Zeppelin, and shedloads of others and none of them could compete with the Undertones in their prime. And I mean mean NONE of them.
my old man introduced me to the undertones, eddie and the hot rods etc when i was about 12, ive never listened to any of the electronic rubbish since, this still sounds brilliant today....
I remember I was still at school - there was some feud between Feargal & that arsehole bono - never liked u2 then, never liked them since. They're a load of pompous self-righteous BASTARDS.
I bought this single in '79 and it had SIR4024 in big red letters on the cover. 4024 was my phone number at the time - what are the chances. Went to see them live several times and they were one of the best.
the undertones were bloody good...not too poncey with attitude and all that...they actually looked and sounded as though they liked their own music...
GREAT FUCKING SONG....finally got to see them in San Francisco and San Jose in April 2005, which means I saw them, Buzzcocks, Clash, Ramones, Sex Pistols, X, Blondie, the Jam and every other major punk act...
Really cleverly written guitar riffs and chord sequence, but still a straightforward Rock 'n' Roll song. J.J. Pure genius. (Dr. Feelgood did a cover of this song also)
Fuck this is a good song!

I had the pleasure of seeing the great Undertones at Keystone Berkeley in Berkeley,
California,USA in 1979 or 1980.I aggressively managed to get backstage with them
after their great performance that night.I met guitarist John O'Neil and gave him my
indy label,Hard-Boiled Records,two 45rpm singles of my band.I co-wrote 2 of the orig-
inal rock songs on those 2 singles.I told John that these 2 songs fit the Undertones,
and they should record them.Joe Satriani did lead guitar on both songs.
loungerenownrecords 1 month ago 2
@loungerenownrecords The name of the band on those 2 Hard-Boiled Records
singles is the Phil Phillips band.Phil and I wrote 17 songs together.Phil changed
his stage name to Phil Frazier about 15 years ago.If you google "Phil Frazier-
Cruisin' The Strip-on CD Baby," you can listen to "Cruisin' The Strip" and "Super
Dose," 2 of the songs I co-wrote and recorded with Phil.

Just seen the guys last night in London.
Sure they look different ( Don't we all ), but they still play with the same
passion and fun that hey did 32 years ago..thanks guys for a wicked night.

@wildenfree1 Is Sharkey still with the band?
herpiethelovebug 9 months ago
@herpiethelovebug Hi..no he left in the mid 80's to persue a solo career
and had a few hits on his own.." A Good Heart " and " Never Never" with " The Assembly".
I think he is quite a big wig in the music industry now although he doesn't perform anymore.
The guy that is with them now is pretty excellent though.
wildenfree1 9 months ago
WOW ! They all look well chuffed to be on Top Of The Pops - EXCELLENT !!

Love the Undertones because they were themselves, what you saw was what you got!
bananasplitsable 2 years ago 2
This song owes a huge debt to the riff driven songs of the 60s, but is still a wonderful piece of classic riff driven punk/new wave.
I love the way the guitar riff twists around and "doubles back on itself," after the intro.
And, I also love the fact that the bass players isn't even bothering to pretend he's playing..
Miming like this, must've been a real drag for bands who could actually cut it live!

They were a great group and this was one of their finest. I wish i'd seen them live.
