  • Fuck this is a good song!

  • They seemed to release about ten singles in about a year then disappear.

  • forgot how good the 70s were!!

  • @loungerenownrecords The name of the band on those 2 Hard-Boiled Records

singles is the Phil Phillips band.Phil and I wrote 17 songs together.Phil changed

his stage name to Phil Frazier about 15 years ago.If you google "Phil Frazier-

Cruisin' The Strip-on CD Baby," you can listen to "Cruisin' The Strip" and "Super

Dose," 2 of the songs I co-wrote and recorded with Phil.

  • The bassist clod seems to be spoiling it.

  • brilliant song very underated can,t understand the totp audience standing about looking lost they should have been dancing and enjoying themselves to a great tune

  • It's brilliant how at 0:47 the drummer waves at the camera.... with the drumstick in his hand.... while he's SUPPOSEDLY drumming. Just got to love the undertones.... didn't get the rcognition they deserved. Top notch band

  • Woah! Was that Feargal Sharkey? Awesome!

  • I love the guy strumming his bass. What a card!

  • @ecnalubma696969

He's the main man...him and Damien allegedly

  • Nice sportcoat, Feargal! LOL

  • post punk beatles

  • u2 are so over rated..x

  • @cunthooks657 By whom?!

  • The best live band I ever saw and that includes Queen, The Jam, Lone Justice and U2, who fill spaces 2>5.

  • @underock4 Yes but The Jam are a FANTASTIC live band

  • @underock4 I got to admit I never heard of Lone Justice, but I have seen U2, Queen, The Who, Stones, Floyd, Sex Pistols, Jam, Clash, Zeppelin, and shedloads of others and none of them could compete with the Undertones in their prime. And I mean mean NONE of them.

  • i`m surprised a phone company havent offered the band £££££££s to use this for an ad

  • This is awesome :) :)

  • Who is playing in the red sweater! I used to have a green one like that! lol I'm going to see these in San Francisco this friday. :)

  • fucking kick ass song, will be witnessed this Friday by me and my buddy in San Francisco

  • Just seen the guys last night in London.

Sure they look different ( Don't we all ), but they still play with the same

passion and fun that hey did 32 years ago..thanks guys for a wicked night.

  • @wildenfree1 Is Sharkey still with the band?

  • @herpiethelovebug Hi..no he left in the mid 80's to persue a solo career

and had a few hits on his own.." A Good Heart " and " Never Never" with " The Assembly".

I think he is quite a big wig in the music industry now although he doesn't perform anymore.

The guy that is with them now is pretty excellent though.

  • WOW ! They all look well chuffed to be on Top Of The Pops - EXCELLENT !!

  • great song !!!!

  • ah the days of the tones the jam the clash the damned the specials- truly an epic era!

  • my old man introduced me to the undertones, eddie and the hot rods etc when i was about 12, ive never listened to any of the electronic rubbish since, this still sounds brilliant today....

  • 2 people like U2

  • undertones are a great irish band. u2 have to be a close second though

  • @davidh0117

I remember I was still at school - there was some feud between Feargal & that arsehole bono - never liked u2 then, never liked them since. They're a load of pompous self-righteous BASTARDS.

  • @Andydreamtheater Ha! That made me laugh, Andy...

  • brilliant tune.....nice to hear where arctic monkeys got their sound from.

  • I bought this single in '79 and it had SIR4024 in big red letters on the cover. 4024 was my phone number at the time - what are the chances. Went to see them live several times and they were one of the best.

  • Class record, great band, no x factor tripe here

  • fucking awesome!

  • The greatest Irish band ever!!

  • @Herioter up there with SLF

  • @Jima1905 wise up man better than slf how many listen to their pish today?

  • there were so many songs and all just so out there

  • the undertones were bloody good...not too poncey with attitude and all that...they actually looked and sounded as though they liked their own music...

  • one of the best ..

  • i cknow it's a cliche, but they truly don't make them like this any more..brilliant!!

  • oh man, this is too good

  • Its a PLAYBACK, The bass is making jokes, and all of them are smiling.

    It was not their decision

    Great band. Great song!

  • The guy in a blue shirt is kinda sexy to me...or maybe I just have bad taste when it comes to men,I know ahah

Loooooooove the song by the way

  • Fantastic Energy

  • this is a great song

  • Pop genius ..... everyone a lamborghini !

  • GREAT FUCKING SONG....finally got to see them in San Francisco and San Jose in April 2005, which means I saw them, Buzzcocks, Clash, Ramones, Sex Pistols, X, Blondie, the Jam and every other major punk act...

  • The Jam punk? Don't think so! They were new wave/mod revival.

  • @kinksboss1

what about the sexpistols? the greatest punk band

  • @johnwagu

    nevermind i read it wrong

  • their best track along with 'you're welcome' i think

  • Your welcome is an awesome tune. I PREFER THE ORIGINAL TO THE 12" version tho. but still unreal

  • @DanAgger5

never knew there was a different version

  • best band in the world ever!

  • Love the Undertones because they were themselves, what you saw was what you got!

  • This song owes a huge debt to the riff driven songs of the 60s, but is still a wonderful piece of classic riff driven punk/new wave.

I love the way the guitar riff twists around and "doubles back on itself," after the intro.

And, I also love the fact that the bass players isn't even bothering to pretend he's playing..

Miming like this, must've been a real drag for bands who could actually cut it live!

  • They were a great group and this was one of their finest. I wish i'd seen them live.

  • First band I ever saw live. Ulster Hall, Belfast, in

    I think 1979. I was 14. Great night.

  • so what

  • Yes jonfra me too. Was indeed 1979 and supported by the moondogs.

  • The Moondogs is right! Werent they a Derry band too? Thanks sarahbo. You're showin your age ,

    girl!

  • John Peel said they were the best ever

  • this song is pure perfection.

The piano at the end builds the song to an excellent climax.

  • 30 years later and still the best 3-minute Pop ditty ever created.

  • forget TK this was their best single

  • Really cleverly written guitar riffs and chord sequence, but still a straightforward Rock 'n' Roll song. J.J. Pure genius. (Dr. Feelgood did a cover of this song also)

  • Love TK, but this was always my favourite, dunno why, probably the riff, saw them in Coleraine of all places when I was 14, God I'm old now :/ LOL

  • Classic!!! I saw them in Galway a million years ago and they opened with this

    great post

  • ah halcion days indeed ilsten to this and im 15 again

  • This song has been in my head all day LOVE IT

  • We need more of this.

  • how rite you are i grew up with the undertones i,m 40 now an i still listen to them but i cant find the personal touch!!!! need help

  • More edge and much punkier than TK and definately their best track!

  • This was undoubtedly their finest moment.

  • I know I'm going against popular opinion here, but I always liked this song better than Teenage Kicks....time to run!

  • Youre not alone there...

  • Wow, I thought I was the only one.

  • No way mate, Teenage Kicks isnt overrated or anything, but this song is definitely UNDERrated....

  • This was always my favourite song too

There's a few of us ha ha

  • I do, too.
