  • Beautiful review!

  • Gabe?! hahaha

  • The orange/black monster is some of the best value watches available.

  • i would buy that watch but i dont have about 465 to get the watch so maybe later

  • @mowat440 only $160 in most places.

  • Excellent review!

Thank you for your time and information.

  • Does the Sumo model blow this out of the water?

  • Can someone give me 200$ for this watch? This would be dreams come true to me, I'm young watch lover. This watch is magnificent

  • How does this watch compare to the Seiko SNZJ21?

  • This is a freaking ugly watch. Just buy a SKA371P1 (BFK) just like I did and you'll be much better off. Much better quality.

  • @Supak90 shut the fuck up faggot.

  • @plasticspastic201 Get a real watch you fag.

  • @Supak90 i will shove this watch up your ass dipshit.

  • @plasticspastic201 Yeah you would like that wouldnt you faggot

  • @Bosnialove yes you would woundnt you. gimp

  • @Supak90 Ne tuci.....nemaš ukusa i ne razumeš se u satove....

  • was looking at your vid for over a month.... and finally got my own OM yesterday! yay! kinda hard to find though if you're not buying it online.

  • I like orange hours

  • If that thing were any bigger, it would be a Vodolaz. Nice!

  • Hey very good review can't wait going 2 d mall to see if I can find one or will have to order it online

  • ROLEX DEEPSEA FOREVER !!!!!!!

  • Why they still dont make this watch is beyond me, get em while theyre still cheap. Not too many things I would change about it. Great attention to detail on this watch, kudos to the designer.

  • ordered mine a week ago...can't wait. had 2 get 1 4 my father 2. just started collecting watches...so far, omega speedmaster professional 3750 and my soon 2 b arriving orange monster. up next, would love to have a green glass rolex milgauss or a seiko spring drive

  • Very good review!

Lot's of information, good view on the watch.

  • What are the measurements of the bracelet? closed with face? thanks

  • Funny how one of the most pragmatic watches for diving is also so sought after by collectors. Great review.

  • is the accuracy a problem?

  • i bought this watch from the PHILIPPINES and it cost me for 8,350.00 PESOS, this is a BEAUTIFUL WATCH

  • MINE

run slow 3 min a week

I do not like to adjust from watchsmith because afraid of mess up water resisant!!

I just adjust 3 min early and.....will be OK after 7 days run

Not sure SEIKO can do anything about this ?? or all 21jewels will do this to everybody?

  • @CharlieDoan

30 seconds a day is within specs.

This is an automatic watch not a quartz :)

I'm sure Seiko can "fix" it but it probably will cost you a lot of money.

Just let your local watchmaker adjust it (or leave it how it is) and let him do a water resistance test after wards. Most watchmakers can measure to 50 meters or more and that is PLENTY for swimming.

Also if the watchmaker put it back together right it would still be water resistant to 200m.

  • for plastic band, do you know Seiko made for this model??

    Thanks for INFOS

  • This clock truly is a monster, it looks totally horrible.

  • i like watch reviews haha.. heres the watch i have its awesome but its not a diver its called the Citizen Sky hawk AT WR200

  • @BrianTakesValium

Citizen is second place compare with Seiko in DIVER!

  • @CharlieDoan mine is a pilot watch not even a diver, so i agree with you = )

  • should i get it?

  • ppl obviously don't dive 200 meters but it needs to be able to take the preasure

  • it is not pronounced like SICKO it is pronouced like say-co. duh.

  • @shawnokada it can be pronounced say-co or seek-co depending on your style, this guy has a accent so it sounds like sicko because of that. the review is good so stop being a internet arse and put your own revirew up.

  • @shawnokada internet hero hides behind his keyboard to insult strangers......your a cowardly white dude...who would shit himself before he spoke like that in public to guys so gets it off his chest in the darkness of his moms basement in his guise as internet tough guy......

  • @shawnokada typical chink girls dating outside their ethnicity. You love the big dick don't ya? lol let me tear it up

  • It's up to you whether this is the right type of watch for you - size and style and all that. A trip to the mall to try on a few could help. But if you decide a diver is the right choice, then this one should definitely be on your short list of finalists, black or orange.

  • i have a problem, how to set the days of the watch?

  • You get a great bang for your buck with this watch.

  • What is the rotating bezel for?

  • @SSSIappy138 :diving,keeping track of time.

  • just bought one at 1500 on 8/5/2010 X)

  • QUESTION: what do you think is better, a "G-Shock" watch or this product the " Navy Seal Luminox" watch?

please answer!!!! also do all luminox watches have the Navy Seal Logo on the back????

  • @N3RDProductionz yes the luminox has the navy seal logo on the back

  • Best watch I ever bought. This is a watch that you buy for life, it just keeps ticking as long as you live, and stops ticking when you stop ticking. Its heavy, strong and very masculine! Its accurate too for an automatic! I am telling you that I prefer a watch like this than some fancy Rolex.

  • I just bought the SNZF49 which is very similar to the monster apart from the black date window and 3 o'clock crown. The bezel also has orange markings. The main difference is the SNZF49 only dives to 100m. Still an Auto tho :-)

Can't wait for it to arrive!

  • Christian I have a question to ask you.. Out of all the quartz watches you own "analog", are there any of them that doesn't make the ticking noise? And is it rare to find quartz watches that doesn't make ticking noise

  • can someone tell me how many mm case not crown?thanks

  • Pretty sure it's 42 mm.

  • I love my orange_monster, had it a year and wear daily in construction- I beat the hell out of it. I measure against web atomic clock evry 3-4 dys, not as accurate as my G-Shocks, but much better looking. Has made all my other watches uncomfortably light- esp my Ti Kinetic, but looks are 2nd best to what I have. On wrist- looks much more proportional than on web photos. Crown placement grt for wrist movement- got mine on Ebay $140nib w/ ss band.

  • Great Review!!!...

Altough, isnt dangerous for the movement to change date and/or date while the hour is betwen 10 and 2????

It is said that you can screw the movement up for doing so...

  • Have the same watch, Thanks for the review.

  • I have a Seiko 5 automatic. I have had it for more than 15 years. I also ride a motorcycle and have crashed 2 times (racing with bike, stupid me). The glass never even got a scratch.. Amazing watch.

  • It is interesting to know how long it will glow in the dark, thank you.

  • Is this Orange monster in the Kinetic series that uses quartz or is this part of he Seiko 5 series?

  • thought I`d get some replies, but I thought this was a watch debate, so why bring in personal insults? tell you why, you are a crass piece of trash with nothing worthwhile to say !!

  • Would this be a good first automatic diver to buy? What are some similar watches? I've been using the Timex Ironman Trithlon Flix for a long time and love all the features and I want to see how I like a diver. Good buy for around $150? Thanks

  • jezz - sorry but clearly you show a lack of knowledge in diving and the watch itself. For the same amount of money as this watch any diving to depth that could risk DCI (approx 10m/30ft onwards) would buy a dive computer that would calculate bottom time and non deco diving as you go. They also build in a 3min safety stop at 6m plus mixed gas options and accent rate - - far far more required than a standard watch! I use mine purely as backup and to show the time on the boat!!!

  • your quite right! you obviously know more about diving than me.But the RLX , OMEGA, ET, Al ads of old imply that the watch alone is all that one needed. Therefore if that was the case I would prefer to use a watch which afforded me me much more control over its state of readiness. You put your point over very well in a professional manner which has warranted a thumbs up. The 2 watches stated are neck & neck the seiko mov`t does actually autowind better than the Miyota 8203.

  • @jezztech and yet, it doesnt really matter because practically 90% of dive watches purchased will rarely even see water deeper then 10-20 feet. If someone is a true diver, they will most likely buy a higher end dive watch to suit their diving needs.

  • well said and thanks for doing so. It would be really interesting to instigate a poll amongst professional divers, to get their views on what type of watch is safest to use. one that is possible to hand wind or one that is not possible to hand wind? seems like a no brainer to me.

  • @BC4Lyphe

$150 check ebay its around half price

  • wore my seiko orange monster on a dive last week on the M2 suberine, sunk in 1932 off lyme regis, south coast of Great Britain (search M2 Dive on youtube) - at 35m deep in dark murky water the orage face shows as very light grey and the illuminous indices shine very bright white!

Best dive watch I ever owned, better than my omega seamaster or TAG Aquaracer (both nice watches to wear tho!)

  • Comment removed

  • Nice review, very brutal watch. I decided to order the Black Monster.

  • I agree with the comments. Seiko divers can't be beaten if you want a hard[-wearing, reasonably priced automatic watch.

  • Great watch, I own the black monster and is pretty awesome. As someone said before, don't waste your money in a seadweller or a seamaster, go for this,it will last forever without mantainance, oh and by the way don't go for an Invicta, Invicta sucks, while Seiko exudes quality in every model ( so does Orient)

  • I hear lots of people say Invicta sucks, why is that?

  • Comment removed

  • sick effin watch. wheres the best spot to get one online?

  • lol

  • Shut up, we all have our weird annoying habits!

  • What is the difference between the SKX781K1 and K2? The K3 is the rubber strap correct? Thanks a lot.

  • I don't know if this is any help but, I've only seen the Orange Monster referred as a K2 in some European web sites, that appear exactly like the SS K1 or the rubber strap K3, and I've only seen these 2 types for this model so, I'm assuming it may be referred differently depending on the country or the place where you purchase it, since I don't think it has other SS bracelets available, like some other Seiko divers do.

  • Trust a former Ranger, this watch will not die on you ever! Don't waste your money on a submariner, the sea-dweller (I don't own one) looks sweet but who out there really dives beyond 200m not me.

  • I have one and I love it. Wore it in volunteering in Cambodia, diving in Saipan and on a crowded train in Tokyo. It's the all-purpose bombproof watch. It's also cheap enough that, if something bad did happen to it, I could get another one for less than two hundred bucks!

  • Nice watch

  • Wonderful review, as always! All your reviews are thoughtful and really well made, thank you. This is one of my favorite watches, as it really is a great watch for the price, very affordable!

  • Gotta love that case. Its gorgeous. =D

  • Best bang for the buck diver, period.

  • i want this, and the blue monster

  • Just bought one couple of days before, its fantastic, i don;t know if i got a lucky draw or something, but my movement, after 4 days of running was only fast by 2 seconds, which is allot better than my omega and rolex. This watch really lives up to the hype.

  • @FoolsJOkes ....DID YOUR ROLEX IS A SUBMARINER OR SEA DWELLER ?

AND DID THE MOVEMENT WAS QC , OILED & REGULATED UNDER 5 YEAR ?

    ROLEX DEEPSEA FOREVER !!!!!

  • did you know that seiko has got another model witch looks a bit like a Rolex sea dweller but its only 10 ATM but its nice and stylish

  • which model is this?

  • the seiko submariner

  • Comment removed

  • what is the diffrence between the seiko % and just seiko?.I have the 7s26 divers, and wanted to get a more stylish watch, and the seiko 5 seems a little cheaper.

  • Great watch...it used to be + 25 secs per day and I hade it registered by a local watch guy,now is perfect !!!

  • wow, 25 secs are pretty much, mine got ~ 5-6 secs...

But hey: Quarz is for boys, mechanic is for men

  • right on !!! God I love this watch !! I've just dropped 6000 Euro on a IWC but I'm wearing my Monster !!!

  • Yesterday my new 5er SNZD27K1 arrived and i checked it after 24 hours, it has incredible +- 0 Secs.. Damn I´m so excited, that´s like a Rolex but at 1/10 of the price :-D Hope it´ll last for a long time

  • Comment removed

  • just wear it man....

  • ill prob like this watch more its aluminate paint marks are smaller..and more accurate!

are automatic watches really that not-accurate? killerkowalczyk said his orange monster ran 15 seconds faster in the first two days..@o@

  • it depends on the watch....if you get a good swiss chronometer, they are certified to no more than +6/-4 per day. but the japanese automatics tend to be less accurate. most people get automatics because they either dont feel like dealing with changing batteries or it is because they are considered pieces of man-made art and is where time-pieces come in.

  • Hy, yeah, even the most expesive automatics like Rolex or Breitling can run +- 3-5 secs if they´re bad adjusted. Thats automatic, See quarz as a Toyota: runs and runs without service check but on the other side you´ve got an automatic, thats the toy for men, more like a badass V8 muscle car, needs work and isn´t that relieable but after all it´s got lotta more class then any other watch

  • Great review, and awesome watch. I have had my Black Monster for a while now and absolutely love it. If the size/weight of it doesn't turn you off, it is a great everyday watch.

  • You said, "in-duh-seas", I say, "in-dice-ez"

  • sorry to ask but why does the bezzle turn?

  • The turning bezel is used to mark the minute hand. From there, you can use it like a timer, since you know the starting position.

  • Very good review.

  • HELP anyone!!!..... I just bought my seiko 7S36 diver's watch (seiko) but it seems run very fast... in 24 hours it went 4 hours faster; I was told by the seller it has to settledown and it can take about 2 months to come to work properly.... it's a brand new seiko but I'm worry it may be faulty or something..... I read some comments in the internet about this watches and appears to be they need time to settle but I am not sure... any help about this please

  • I've had numerous watched in my lifetime and none of my watches ever was off by more than a few seconds in a 24 hour period. You should contact Seiko and inquire about your problems directly with them but to me it doesn't sound right. That's just my experience with watches and I own or owned over 20 watches as collector and for daily usage. Hope that helped.

  • someone`s winding u up. A 4 hour gain in 24 hours will not self rectify during brake in period. My Seilko manual for similar watch states 2 min gain per week is OK. I would have thought a complete replacement is in order, but this must surely be extremely rare for a Seiko.

  • any tips for speeding up or slowing down the time keeping of an automatic watch, more specifically the SKX781K1 and a Tissot Seastar 1000. Thanks!!!

  • Have it regulated by a watchmaker, or read up on how to do it yourself. Also, leaving the watch in a different orientation each night, eg, crown down, crystal down, etc, will cause it to gain or lose different amounts of time.

  • Can you tell me which orientations slow down the movement, which speed it up. Is there a guideline online, i cant seem to find anything on it. Thanks!!

  • Unless it has a Tourbillion right?

  • If you can get the back off of the Seiko, you will see a small lever with + and -. Very small movements will make a big difference. Each time you make a change, check it against a digital stopwatch. Start with 1 minute. Fine tune it until you can't tell any difference after 1 min. Then try 30 min, then 1 hour...etc. Anything less than 10 sec/day is good. Even COSC certified watches only have to be -4 to +6 sec/day.

  • Thanks. the first two days I had this watch it ran 15s fast, then it steadily settled down. Its at about +5 seconds a day right now do Im not going to mess with it. In another month or so I'll see wehre its at and maybe fine tune it from there.

  • Could you recommend a case back opener, the watch is rather large and I actually have a 46mm watch that I want to open but non of the watch case openers online provide any specs for max opening distance.

  • Is the actual case back 46mm too? Usually the screw-on back is smaller than the actual case. I think any opener would work. You DEFINATELY want one with 3 pins. The cheap 2 pin models will cause you to slip and scratch your watch and your fingers.

  • 23456applejuicebum - I actually went to a local hardwar store and bought the cheapest Vernier Caliper I could buy, but the measuring arms to half there normal length and used it to open my case which measure 40mm at the slots (the OM is actually much smaller 30mm at the slots. But really a cheap Vernier Caliper slightly modified seems to do the trick quite well!

  • hi there, watch enthusiasts! some great seiko deals are playing online on a site called countspin.

  • im a lefty, the crown doesnt get in the way

  • thanks all of you guys, nice review and useful comments too.

  • The Seiko Monsters are some of the best watches for the money. You can get one for about $150 on Ebay. It's an amazing value for such a well built watch. You can't really tell in this video how amazing the lume "paint" as he called it is. It's unbelievable. The only other watch I know of that rivals it is a $3000 Omega Seamaster. The only negative for me is the movement. It doesn't hack and it's not that accurate. All 3 of mine lose about 25 seconds a day. Not the most accurate movement.

  • I really would like to buy this watch, but I never go diving, unless you count swimming to the bottom of the pool diving; makes me wish I was a diver though so I could actually use it properly.

  • mate, i'm a qualified diver and dive all over the world - for proper diving most use a wrist mounted dive computer - can buy a good one for about 300 USD, and it displays deco time, dive time, depth, temp and max depth! a watch is only used for backup and really to time your safety stops (mandatory 3mins safety stop at 6m unless you enter deco) - but proper dive planning using tables will decide what saefty stops at what depth you do! A watch therefore is redundant when you have a computer!

  • One quick thing. I noticed when you rotated the bezel, you grabbed it at the 12 and 6 position (this is the normal tendancy). However, on this watch, there is a guard at those positions. If you grab it at 3 and 6, it's MUCH easier to turn!

  • I bought this watch based on your review alone I was pleasantly surprised that this watch offered everything that you promised and more I am a firefighter by trade and was looking for an alaround durable watch that would hold up to an active lifestyle I found that the watch is virtually bullet proof I have had this watch for about a year and does not even have one scratch on the face even though it has been abused on a regular bases. Over all you cant beat the design and usability for the price

  • I keep falling more and more in love with this watch everyday, already have a collection of timepeices, so I don't really want to buy it! If only I would have seen it sooner!

  • first watch review i've ever seen, very fascinating

    good job

    great watch too

  • great review

  • my wrist will compliment the wAtch or vice versa...lol, like real.

  • i finally got the Casio Multi-Lingual Databank watch.

  • In fact beside orange dial he has nothing in common with Doxa Divers. :)

  • maybe if doxas were non so expensive, I would buy one. So seiko wins because they actually WANT to make money.

  • i am very interested i purchasing on of these watches, but i have a quick question first. What is the rotating bezel for? I am not sure what the use is? thanks!

  • The bezel it mostly used in divers watched to measure time spend, or oxigene rezerve, in the water. For example you dive into the water at 1:36 PM. Because its hard to make calculation out there, you just set the bezel with the arrow (or dot) at 1:36. Then you can observe, as the minutes hand advance, the exact number of minutes spend in the water, on the bezel, without calculation. In the same way you can calculate how much you do from your home to a store, or workplace. :)

  • Also a bezel, depends of what is written on him, could act like a tachymeter, orientation compass, or just as a design element.

  • I have this one and the Black Monster - great value auto dive watches, also pretty accurate and very robust.

  • how many inches is this watch band in cirecumference? my wrist is 4 inches.

  • i got this new watch over the weekend. its preppy with a leather watch band. it has the date at the 3:00 position, it glows in the dark, it EVEN has millitary time. im like this the PERFECT watch for me. maybe when i get enough money ill get the casio multi lingual databank watch. BTW, when i looked at the price, it was $58. im like no way. but this morning i saw it was $48.

  • i'm like OMG

    really?

  • great watch great lumination everything is smooth but it is the hardest watch I have ever seen to take links out of it is a nightmare according to all seven jewlry stores who tried to remove my links I had to get rid of the factory band and seiko will not take out the links I sent it back and they sent it back in the same condition and refused to adjust the links for me which makes the factory band worthless to me.

  • i have the same watch with black dial. it's awesome check it out

  • My friend just gived me one Seiko Orange Monster. They knew i so wanted one, after seeing pictures on the Net and this beautiful review.

    Thank you!

  • WOW.... What a great review and also a great use of YouTube. I just ordered myself a Orange Monster though, I was also considering buying a SNM037 or a SKA291 the Kinetic model though after seeing your video, I decided to go with the Orange Monster.

  • Do you know why it doesnt have "5" logo on it?

  • Because it isn't a Seiko 5.

  • The Seiko Monster is more "pro" than a Seiko 5, thats the reason that the Monster says "Diver's" on the dial.

  • I owned this great watch, but I had to sold it because my arm is too small to wear it. Thank you for this great review!

  • can u pleeeez do review on the seiko coutura spl002!!! it would be a fun 1 to reveiw cheers... does any1 else no were to find a video review on it???

  • Great watch.

Also thank you for the other wonderful reviews.

  • Thank you for the response. It looks very appetizing now. Are there any advantages to spending 2x as much for the Kinetic variety (SMY089)?

As for the website, it was, until recently, sending me to an advertiser's page.

  • How well does it hold its charge? Does it require daily wearing in order to function?

Also, what's happening to your website?

Great and thorough review though...I may get the Black Monster (slightly more elegant IMHO) and am looking forward to future reviews.

  • I have the Orange and Black Monster's. I love them. Nice review. I love Seiko Diver's, and I'm colecting them(I try....).The Monsters are the very best waches you cant buy for this price. Very very good. My Orange Monster dive, at 3 mounths ago at 42 meters under water. Bullet proof.....

  • Great review, just what I wanted to know about this watch. Thank you.

  • hey man nice review... did you get a chance to check out my Orange Monster video? it is so cool!

  • A very interesting and thoughtful review. Informs about the watch in a way not possible in a text based watch forum. Well done.

  • The pins in the bracelet. What do you mean by caps? I haven't done anything to the pins except get a few links taken out of the watch at a jewlerly store.

  • I have this watch, and it's great, but one thing that I would like to complain about is the pins have a tendency to slide out at random. I've block the holes now with resin. Also I dropped the watch less than a foot once and one of the pins snapped somehow.

  • Glad you're on Youtube. Do you think Seiko will ever make any of their radio-controlled watches available in the U.S.? From the few images I've seen, their Brightz line looks good. I don't know if there are others...

  • You didn't mention that the movement is the 7S26 caliber 21 jewel. It would also be nice to note whether it is the "A" or "B" version of the movement.
