  • This is a symptom of calcium deficiency.

    I've seen some long tailed macaques

    rubbing two small pieces of sand stones to the surface of a rock formation, then putting one stone into their mouth briefly. They found a way to produce their own

    calcium tablets. After all they're the most successful primates next to man.

  • OMG, not sure how old this vid is, but I saw her and her baby (or another one doing the same thing) when I went to japan last year. She was over on the other side of they pond at the top of the hill, doing that and then banging the rocks together. I didn't notice any others doing that at all. :)

    One of them bop'd me on the head when I didn't feed him quick as he'd like.
