  • I don't believe that this looks like the 1920s. I hope someone was fired over this blunder.

  • is this a christmas song? i think so

  • merry christmas !

  • Has anybody ever made looking dissipated as hot as Ann Margaret?

  • The late great Ken Russell at his very best with fantastic movie. Rest in peace, Ken.

  • Preferisco ricordarti così, mio caro vecchio "amico" Ken...Addio...R.I.P.

  • Ken Russell - beautiful photography. Ann Margret - just beautiful. :)

  • The Original Movie soundtrack is WAY better than the album. The album sucks IMHO>

  • Oliver Reed playing a drunk? Must have been quite a reach for him.

  • @Burgerfanny - Bit of a strange choice for an opera considering Oliver Reed's tone deaf and can't sing for toffee.

  • @rogan71 Well, that was also back before pitch correction so singers had to rely on their own talents. Also, it's worth noting that vocals weren't what made people like bands, it was message and instrumentation...something today's bands can't quite grasp. Besides all that, I think he was supposed to sound a little off. He is playing a drunk; ever seen one in karaoke? XD

  • @Burgerfanny : Actually, he was only playing a "problem drinker", so he had to sober up some for the part.

  • I love the little girl in the orange dress who rolls her eyes saying "the eternal grave."

  • @scottandrewhutchins I HATE HER!

  • tears, every single time...

  • Oh my God this is awful. Listen the the original version on the Who album and then try to listen to this without puking. To make it even worse, Pete Townshend produced this recording.

  • @jeromekagan I love this! Oliver Reed is NOT a professional and I definitly think they could've done way better with that particular character. Also the horns that the children are blowing at him are quite irratating. But I love Ann-Margeret and I do enjoy the scene very much!

  • @jeromekagan I like this version

  • It's amazing how curly his hair gets

  • You're right, BoomerProduction. The kid's a hell of an actor.

  • Tommy doesn't know who Jesus was or what praying is, but he learns English pretty fast after he gets saved

  • @Scarperguy I don't know why he apparently doesn't know those things, even though he was only recently (at that time) handicapped. :U

  • @Scarperguy he knew english before he got death blind and dumb watch the whole movie -.-

  • @Korph88 He got death? When did he come back to life?

  • if you press 1 she says naked.

  • good musical rendition, but ann margret was singing a bit too operatically (despite it being a rock opera).

  • this movie is so creepyy ive been watching this movie every sine i was like 8 never understood until i read the wiki page on it and i was ohoh..still creepy .and oliver reed is a child molester

  • wow that child can act!

  • @blueroomexit I always wondered if Ken Russell changed the plot line (from the stepdad being killed to the dad being killed) so that he could keep Oliver Reed around for more of the movie. They were buddies after all and you can't really get any better than Ollie Reed!

  • @kennedynut yup .. have heard that .. and then regretted it when Moon and Reed went on benders lol

  • @kennedynut Yes they did change the script. It was supposed to be Oliver Reeds character that was killed and not Captain Walker (Robert Powell). Read that on Wiki recently

  • amazing song and i agree wirth porno its amazing

  • Oliver Reed looks like dexter robwember?!?! wtf

  • so unlike real "autistic" children. it's like it was written by people who know nothing about the real tragedy of having a brain damaged child. oh, but it was, it was written by people who know nothing about it! :))

love the music though, always have.

  • @Rawego I don't think he was supposed to be autistic, he was blind deaf and dumb.

    Great music, i agree. :)

  • I really like the part starting at 1:13, it reminds me of The Residents.

  • i love oliver reed's face throughout this god i love this movie it's just fucking crazy

  • This is so amazing!!

  • Where is it possible to see on web the complet movie ?

    (Ylian, from France)

  • TOMMEHCANYAHEARMEH

  • the 70's were so disturbing

  • @KendraEMoyer 60's*

  • @ObsydianFlow While the album Tommy is from 1969, but the movie only came out on 1975. If he's refering to the imagery of the movie, it's probably right to say 70's.

  • Comment removed

  • @whitenuts000 I see now, thanks!

  • @whitenuts000 Well the movie is supposed to span over time, so the imagery is supposed to change from say 1950s England into 1970s England. Based off the timeline, this scene should be around 1951-1952

  • @ObsydianFlow

The movie was made in the 70s where as the album was made in 1969.

  • Hello!

Oh I just love that music. I hear "Tommy" in the Album version and in the TV version till im 15 or so. Now im nearly 30, hehe. OK. Its a bit old fashioned now but the who did a great job.

    greetz!

    PROZAC

  • Happy Xmas!

  • Ann-Margret is just plain cool.

  • There has never been a bigger gulch between how much I enjoy the album and how much I enjoy the movie. What a mess.

  • little tommy is so adorable. i almost cried when he sang see me, feel me.

  • i saw this movie when i was 7 in 1975 and i remember the impact it had on me i watch it today and the movie still has that same effect on me a true thought provoking movie

  • Haunting!

The "See me, feel me" bit still sends ice cold chills up my spine!

  • He's not completely deaf. The boy jumps a couple times at apparent noise. 1:34

Though I'm sure this has already been pointed out.

  • @dahger7 he was never completely impaired, it was all psychological

  • I'd do Ann Margret at her age now just so I could say i did. What a sexy voice!

  • i doubt anyone has ever had a christmas like this amiwrong

  • i watched this movie completely stoned when i was 18, & this scene is tremendously trippy under the heavy influence... even sober, it's pretty mindblowingly creative, bigger-than-life.

  • frank is crazy

  • i love this

  • knocking over the baby jesus thats 20 lashes with the belt tommy. What an evil kid

  • @rwk1983 how DARE he do something w/o being cognizantly aware of his actions

  • No wonder why he hates Xmas, I mean all these pricks are yelling at him and that fag actually screams in his ear in the other version.

  • I think they cut out the part where the douche bag is screaming in his hear. Where he has the santa mask and is screaming at the kid.

  • Couldn't they just mime the origanal songs by the who, like PInk Floyd's film

  • I really liked Tommy, but it was so weird.

British movies were so weird in the 70's. Like "A Clockwork Orange", that had to be the weirdest movie I've ever seen in my life (although I liked that movie too).

  • Tommy doesn't need to be saved he needs to healed it's thier fault from the beginning anyway

  • 2:52 GRRRRRRRRR!

  • Comment removed

  • please see me...feel me...touch me...Ann-margret

  • That Santa mask is so effin' creepy.

It's forever burned in my memory.

  • i love Ann-Margret in this movie !

  • another beautiful swedish woman :))

  • She wears WAY too much makeup, but I think that's intentional (non-movie wise anyway.)

  • it was broon ale he was drinking i should know i from the area.......

  • Tommy rocks!!!

  • this is one of the few "movie versions" of the songs that has Moonie playing drums. He's only on a few of the movie versions - but when he is it really shows and makes a giant difference!

  • I like Oliver Reed chugging dark rum straight from the bottle during the opening minute. Knowing Mr. Reed, I'm sure they used the real stuff.. you know, for that authentic 'alcoholic / bon vivant' glow. :)

  • it was ale

  • @NixonIn2008 he wasnt drinking rum it was newcaslte...BEER

  • @plurrjunkie It was newcastle brown ale actually :)

  • I used to hate this movie despite the fact that I think Ken Russell is one of the greatest filmmakers of all-time. But it's starting to grow on me. I think I'm just a purist about the original album, which is still the best IMHO.

  • A rock and roll album and a musical movie are two different media, even if the two are remotely related. I prefer to think of this as a great movie adaption from a different media, just as the LOTR movies were great adaptions from a great series of books. Comparing apples to oranges, yes, but they were both fruit, and both the album and this movie were fantastic.

  • Oh I completely agree with you. It was the old me who couldn't separate the two.

  • @NixonIn2008 Nobody could say better.

    Congs.

  • god knows when we are in certain conditions, tommy doesn't need to be "saved"

  • Rock opera

  • 1:44 is my favourite part

  • I looove this song, the movie and The Who!!!!

  • I like the tying in of The First Noel at the end.

  • I doubt kids were supposed to watch the film and the film portrays murder, molestation and abuse quite badly.

I find the movie to be very great and you should'nt blame a single movie for the corruption of a single generation.

  • Quite correct.. kids are not supposed to be watching Tommy. Except in the US and Canada but only with parental approval.

I think the original 1975 UK certification was X. Which means over18s only.

  • What do you mean 'message to kids'?

FYI Tommy in the UK has a 15 certification, so kids shouldn't even be watching it. In the USA and Canada it's PG, so kids should only be watching if their parents or guardians approve of it.

  • @mukatuna ironically here in States its PG

I loled so much at that

  • @mukatuna Tommy was certified AA back in 1975 which meant anyone over the age of 15 was allowed to see the film.

  • @burnedinflorida thats weird how the album was the same. My generation joke? go back to your hole

  • Keep in mind Pete isn't the only one who wrote Tommy. Ken Russell Co-Wrote it. So maybe the dramatic music change was Ken's idea. I'm not sure though.

  • the whos version is better its an actual rock song.these people somehow turned it into classical music

  • yes because whoever made this obviously had no association with the band and never consulted townshend about anything to do with the film. good on you for being yourself.

  • This movie was co-written with Pete Townshend! Do some research. The band was totally involved in making this movie and they're all in this movie. Look it up. Yes, the album is a rock opera, but the movie stands on it's own. Like Quadrophenia, another rock opera of Pete's that was made into a movie, he writes parts about or for other people. He really is a genius. Have fun!

  • when the "see me feel me" part comes I always shiver deep inside...what a great song <33

  • Damn Ann-Margaret is banging

  • They don't show this movie enough credit.

Oliver Reed kicks ass and Ann Margret is fantastic as always

  • comments r out of order

  • I just relized little Tommy Looks like my little Cuz! lol

  • by the way ... you know such as Oliver is really dead?

    drunk slipped from the stool

and should be like his ideal wife?

a nymphomaniac daughter of a bar owner

  • i just noticed the kid has brown eyes...

    roger (tommy) has blue eyes

  • too much LSD in his life D:

  • Yeah I saw it,too. When I watched this movie the 1st time I shouted WRONG EYE COLOUR and everybody looked at me :D

  • I noticed that too. I was mad. D: Roger has such pretty blue eyes, they should've gave the kid some contacts or something

  • I almost fell over laughing when he started picking his nose.

    I'm addicted to this movie!

  • i am to i love the who it was so funny when he picked his nose!

  • Yeah, to bad roger is not in this scene, I LOVE HIM!!!!

  • I disagree with most comments on here. This is a great rendition and Anne Margret is awsome. But i Like Jesus Christ Super Star and Rocky Horror. Rock Opera is the Supreme form of media

  • I agree with you I actualy like her version more then the whos.

  • @Pornitopia agreed....except ive never seen rocky horror picture show, if you like rock opera, check out sweeney todd!

  • @hookshotagain Sweeney Todd isn't a rock opera.

  • @TerribleGreenBlizzrd didnt say it was, but i like rock opera's, and i liked sweeney todd, so chances are that he'll like the stylistic of it. but yeah lemme re-say that,

Sweeney Todd, mello musical, not rock, but still cool

  • @hookshotagain oh okay

  • He's deaf dumb and blind! why did they give him a car?

  • because he can still feel and smell you prick

  • i think it was a joke.

  • you think? you can never tell with the youtube world of morons...

  • i guess some people on this place can be stupid.

  • Pagan idolatry at its bestest. How full of wisdom are The Who for seeing through the illusion, pomp, and lies.

Let's get to the real Messiah. Stop following the hypocrites of religion.

  • the zooms in and out with the toy horns are ridiculous...

and how long has youtube had this speak and spell audio preview? Tommy should use it.

  • I rather like the staging of the production and think the pulsating of the horns is very illustrative of the "wall" that exists for a child that is "deaf blind and dumb."

    Creative, it is.

  • does anyone know if that was ann-margaret singing? its freakin awesome

  • yupp thats herr... the female elvis

  • I like the original more because the children with the annoying horns aren't in it.XD

but amazing song. I love it.

  • Poor tommy =(, i love this film

  • how the heck did the kid playing tommy keep a straight face?????? i dont think alot of adults could manage it

  • Ken Russell told him "don't react to anything at all"...and the kid did as he was told!

  • even more amazing! a kid who does what he's told!!

    XD

    (jk)

  • Pretty cool stuff.

  • not to be mean, but i can't stand to look at little tommy! lol

  • Right after little Tommy in this very scene comes my sweet babboo!

  • tommy is so adorable. LOOK at him.

-----feel him. touch him. heal him.

(in a good way, not the ways that neagtively affect his soul which are depicted in this story)

  • Great!
