Ignoring that word, adults I've spoken to who are under five feet tall would disagree with your assertion. I'm glad it doesn't matter to you, but many people are unkind, and there is the simple inconveniences of living in a world designed for taller people.

I'm sorry to hear you are having such a hard time. Kids can be mean, but it comes from their own insecurity. The best worst thing you can do is let them know they are getting to you, and the best is to ignore them.

As for hormone treatment, you are doing the right thing -- your doctor can tell you what is possible.

As for losing weight, I have one bit of advice: don't eat or drink anything you could buy at a gas station.

I've been diagnosed with this condition as well. I'm 16 years old and I'm only 4'11. That is obviously extremely small for someone my age and I get picked on for it almost everyday. The thing is the doctors say im running out of time for growth so the max i can grow is about 3 more inches. That news right there shattered me. Knowing that I'm only going to be picked on for the rest of my life.

I'm sorry to hear you get picked on. I know even a year feels like forever when one is 16, but people won't remain jerks for long; it will get better when you get out of school. I've known and worked with people who are around (or a bit under) the 5' mark. Sure, my first impression was that they were short as I had nothing else to know them by, but after getting to know them, their stature didn't cross my mind. Be a good person and that is what people will know you by.

You can make it up to 6'1, i know how :).

Theres a lat of pseudo science on growing taller, and growing in general.

The growth plates never seal, but become active, and theres a way to re-activate them to grow taller.

My daughter was apprehensive too the first time, but the needle is very narrow and doesn't hurt. Once in a while she will feel a slight pinch for whatever reason, but even then she says it isn't a big deal. On the positive side, the shots really are helping her grow faster, quite noticeably so.

Google search on "children's growth chart" and you will find the information you are looking for. Keep in mind that these are just averages, and different kids get growth spurts at different times. Your own growth curve can also depend on health and nutrition.

I'm 13 with Idiopathic Short Stature and just started today. I started late because before I was growing normally. But when I got sick with colitis, the medicine I was taking stunted my growth. And it seems like ever since then I haven't been growing properly. Since I started late were not expecting it to increase my final adult height, but we are hoping it helps me get to 4'11". I'm only 4'7" at the moment and it truly sucks because all the kids tease me about my height.

Now its been about a month and when I measured myself using the chart they sent me it looked like i had grew almost half an inch according to my mom. But I go to the doctor this monday, so i'll know for sure then. And it also helps with your sleep, ever since I've been on it I have been sleeping really good.
