  • This is amazing x we did this in gym class the other day and we had to interpret it , it's so fun to do , that's why I'm a dancer and cheerleader

  • I would totally clock myself one good time trying to attempt this. lol this is great.

  • I'm getting whiplash watching these ladies throw their heads around like that.

  • people needa stop talking about all these dance moves being stolen like it's the worst thing ever because i know almost half of you is already or been illegally "stealing" their music right now.

  • are we goig to talk about Beyoncé here forever? grow up, forget about it, and enjoy this beautiful piece of art above!

  • Oh, so you think that Beyoncé didn't steal from this person. Ok, I got it now.

  • Beyonce boosted this for Countdown! She's really good at stealing from people and claiming it as her own.

  • Where do I get the music from???!

  • I'm doing part of this scene for my group performance at school !!

  • or.. beyonce could have just gotten anne teresa to choreograph something new for her..... because obviously they have run out of ideas

  • @supasexsquirrel i wish i could give this 24 thumbs up.

  • This piece is not new to me but remains powerful after many years.

  • So much for the claim that white people always stealing from creative black folk.

  • @FizATropaComOBaia no beyonce copied from this person :P

  • @Javeline200 I wasn't being ironic.

  • @FizATropaComOBaia That's ignorant.... Very Ignorant.

  • @Jalen492 You obviously have reading comprehension problems. We both agree that Beyonce is a plagiarist.

  • @FizATropaComOBaia I don't, but your comment was ignorant.

  • It is.....REALLY REALLY REALLY AWKWARDLY AMAZING !

  • Thumbs up if your Dance degree brought you here, not Beyonce!

  • so sensual and amazing! oh beyonce..why?

  • Wow. The video for Countdown by Beyonce is fun and all, but Beyonce did NOT do this amazing piece of work justice. At best it was a shallow parody. :)

  • vão cachumba formiga isso aí é horrivel

  • i'm glad more people are recognizing keermaeker's work....pure brillance

  • Incredible.

  • Chances are this Brilliant choreographer didn't want to be as Mainstream as Beyonce forced her to be by stealing her choreography. that's a bummer.

  • i mean yeh b stole this but now dis Belgian choreographer's work is going viral!

  • it is just amazing!! that are so easy moves, but choreography is beautiful... thumbs up <3

  • beyonce did it justice if you ask me :) x

  • what is it about this that creeps me out? its amazing choreography, but theres something about it and makes it seem like its from a horror or thriller movie

  • I'm sure that Beyonce copied the choreography.

  • Im doing this dance as part of my practical work for GCSE Dance and it's very inspirational :) thumbs up for Anne Keersmaeker!!

  • crap...:(

  • Is dit Nederlands?;p

  • @lasgoloves no it is belgian. at least the choreogapher is.^^ her name is Anne Keersmaeker.

  • If people are inspired by something they say so. Bey said nothing till she got called out. she said she got inspiration from a musical when she did "single ladies" so why did she say nothing this time? her and her team wanted to claim this as her own. she gets so much praise for her routines/videos but 90% of her stuff is not her own!!! she don't even write her own music, she pays to be put down as a writer!!!

  • i believe that despite of all the complaining coming from that belgian choreographer she probably is quite happy beyonce ripped her idea. just iagine all the attention her work is gonna get now. beyonce still shoulda asked first, though but she is the queen and that is why we luv her^^

  • @derlebkuchenmann ATdK, that belgian choreographer, has issued a statement about Beyonce and Countdown. You can find it on rosas.be. Better read it first.

  • @xannakis i did now and have to say that ATdK seems to be quite confident with her self. obviously for a reason. i mean she has been known to a qualified audience for such a long time that for her it probably isn't as big of an issue to be copied but to not have been asked first strikes her as somewhat baffling since the legal consequences in such a case are rather obvious to overlook, especially for a team of professionals beyonce most likely surrounds herself with. they should meet and talk.

  • and the choreographer wasn't complaining i apologize for misformulating. ^^

  • kind of creepy... but cool

  • This is cool but I dont get it. Can someone explain?

  • Comment removed

  • @kisakye92 As Anne Keersmaeker said herself, this dance represents the cycle of sexual oppression women go through.

  • this is amazing. Beyonce may have stolen it and I may love her, but this is like 10 times better!

  • beyonce is gewoon een vuile plagiaatpleegster rosas is gewoon geniaal en je kunt haar kennis niet gewoon stelen nog is proberen beyonce

  • Thumbs up if you knew Anne Teresa's Rosas danst Rosas before Beyonce copied/stole it.

  • I love when people get offended that someone has recognized someones work and decide to do a tribute to it.

As if she assumed no one would notice.

Lets get real. Its the internet. Everyones looking to incriminate everyone.

    Its an effing chair dance.

  • @Chachx92 you clearly dont understand the dance then... it's about the daily routine women go through, which is why it is repeated over and over. It's pretty simple to see that this dance has a clear meaning if you just use your brain

  • This is similar to Beyonce's video but she's pregnant for crying out loud, if she loses this baby because of stress imagine how infamous you'd be and how bad you'd feel, it's just a dance you've got recognition for it haven't you leave it at that..

  • uhh to the people who said Beyonce stole this and copied it all, did you not watch or read what it said about her "Countdown" video? it was "INSPIRED" not stolen. sure when Beyonce does puts something like this in her video its stealing but when Chris Brown does Michael Jackson moves, its okay. wtf? stop being so damn arrogant and enjoy the video.

  • HAHA beyonce took evrything...

  • I guess boredom can make people do extraordinary things. LOL

  • Thumbs up if beyonce not brought you here.

    r___r fuckers!

  • Beyonce could have just collaborated with them and not steal/copy. Nuff said

  • Beyoncé just copied it, omg

  • Extraodinary. Better, but so much better than Beyonce.

  • It Reminds Me Of Phys-cos In A Mental Institution... Lol .

  • i found it freaking sexy

  • Sorry but this look retarded and Beyonce's video is so much better and it's quality but those women look like they masturbate or whatever

  • @DianaMJLOVE

get a life and some education!

  • beyonce is very easy to watch, SELF RAISING FLOWERS

  • Well Let Beyonce and Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker fight,,, Let me enjoy both.

  • I can definitely see now why Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker is upset over Beyonce. Countdown's 80's dance studio setting, the arm throwing, pushing the hair back, and wardrobe are all toeing the "copy-cat" line....yikes! Love this dance, but I'm so disappointed Beyonce didn't even mention her. I've been searching all over for the choreographer's name!

  • yes,i see where beyonce and team got their inspiration. but, what is this dance about?

  • my neck hurts watching this video

  • Wow amazing

  • Their movements are synchronized and they hit those points so perfectly its unreal

  • I kept hearing all this controversy about the countdown song and this dance i had to see it...I must say i ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT SO POWERFUL AND INSPIRING.

  • i love this dance its liek amazing but i don't understand it lol....but this is truly amazing i don't think icould ever pull off something so beautiful like that

  • this was awsome

  • Imma Let You Finish, but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time.

  • Amazing! Beyonce should of asked for permission before doing the dance, that's respect.

  • @realestting She did ask for permission, you fucking idiot. Why would you even post such a stupid comment...?

  • @checkthisout3344 Oh, so that's why Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker is considering a lawsuit.

  • @realestting *should have

  • @realestting I agree - she definitely modeled her recent video after this - should have at least asked permission AND acknowledged it.

  • they whip they hair back and forth

  • Thumbs up if beyonce brought you here!

  • @djolante fuck beyonce.. my friend who is a really good dancer brought me here.

  • en plus les mm pas de danse mon dieu!!!!

  • ola c vrmt plagier la. avec tout largent que beyonce elle peut se payer nimport kel chorégraphe mais est copie pffff c vraiment nimpote koi

  • lol i saw this on smack the pony xD

  • they make it look so easy

  • effing amazzzzzzzzing

  • POINT BLANK PERIOD BEYONCE ASS SHOULD HAVE ASKED HER CAN SHE USE IT. NOW IF SOMEONE STOLE BEYONCE'S SHIT AND DIDN'T ASK HER STUPID ASS STANS WOULD FLIP OUT. STUPID ASS PPL. I LOVE COUNTDOWN AND THE VIDEO BUT BEY STANS REALLY MAKE ME HATE THEM AND HER

  • being plagerized by beyonce was the best publicity she couldve recieved

  • well now she got a new lie her fake baby hajahaha more publicity oh come on B wat going on gurl

  • PAUSE AT 7:11 what's with the creepy woman in the front of the room?!?!?

  • I think Beyonce did a great job of honoring this classical piece and I think that everyone should realize that all artists copy each other at some point or another... And Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker should be honored that someone as successful and popular as Beyonce even considered taking points from her dance from 25 years ago that nobody in our time has seen anyway..If it wasnt for B, that dance would have been lost to us.... So... thank you, Beyonce :D

  • @sassy19892011 I think you are completely wrong by saying that Rosas Danst Rosas otherwise would be lost. Anyone who had seen this performance remembers it, and it is still being performed, here in Belgium, but also abroad. I personally think Beyonce did'nt honor the piece because she missed the whole idea of it.

But hey, that's the fine difference between art and pop-culture.

  • @sassy19892011 I personally don't think that Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker is interested in pop-culture and people like Beyonce 'honoring' her like this. They should have at least asked her if they could use this, which is an art work. And this piece isn't lost on anybody of our time. I studied her work in art class in high school, so most of the people I know, know her work. She was already well-known in Belgium and Europe before Beyonce decided to use her work. So, thank you Anne Teresa :).

  • anyway every second singer in hollywood copies something from singers of past

  • Wow what a powerful piece! I can see why Beyonce was inspired.

  • those pillars look like the ones from the Wiz! Omg their gonna come alivvvvvvvveeee!!

  • beyonce countdown brung me here and i loved her video but ppl were like she was copying off someone else and i saw this... all i have to say is this video is just plain weird what the freak do they keep doin that for?

  • Very powerful and abstract...and to people hating on Beyonce she as in the chair for about 5 seconds at the end of her video obviously INSPIRED by this not being a copycat.

  • BECAUSE OF THE ISSUE, BEYONCE'S COUNTDOWN BROUGHT ME HERE...

    ANNE TERESA IS AWESOME!! <3

  • Anne Teresa create, Beyonce plagiate.

  • I'd like to thank Beyoncé for pointing towards this wonderful dance. I remember watching it years ago (might have been twenty odd years ago when it first came out). I thought it was so powerful. I've searched for it, "Women dancing sat down" "Women in an office dancing" etc etc, but nothing found it. Soon as I saw the Beyoncé thing I recognised it.

  • Plagiat ? You're kidding me, right ?

  • Maybe Beyonce just wanted to make this learn this and make this dance appear in her music video, just like the african steps she learned in Run the World Girls.

  • HA HA Beyonce wanna make it as her original ? pathetic ,

  • Loved this! Yes I'm a Beyonce fan! Yes all the talk surrounding her video brought me here! Now can we move on! This is a beautiful piece....I didn't even know who Keersmaeker was before Beyonce's video. Maybe things could have been done differently ok, but what's done is done and none of y'all are victims of it. No money list from you, it's not like u WEREN'T recognized so shut up! How many ppl didn't know this existed? Read the comments. Be happy Keersmaeker is getting some new followers. Peop

  • Complicated sexy. The steps to this are amazing!!!!!

  • This is boring and redundant..she should be ecstatic that Beyonce notice her..at all.

  • @bella50008 I couldnt have said it better myself...People are always trying to start something, my goodness. This video has probablly had more views in the last week then any other time, as if didn't exist up until now. Who cares? so what, shut up and take the little you may make off of this. Here's a penny or 2 for your tip jar :)

  • @alwysbritt You're an idiot. Anne Teresa doesn't need Beyoncé's money. But she shouldn't just accept when B blatantly steals her choreography without so much as asking for permission first. If anything the comments on here prove that most of Beyoncé's fans don't have any clue about De Keersmaeker's status within the contemporary dance world

  • @bella50008 so you are saying beyonce is boring and redundant as well, afterall she copied her!

  • @bella50008 Anne Teresa does not care about Beyoncé. She cares about someone shamelessly stealing her intellectual property.

  • This dance is amazing.

  • I remind the proponents of 'high art', that neither art nor pop is science, she doesn't have to cite 'correctly' if she uses or cites other's material in a non carbon-copy way, that is, I don't see any plagiarism here. If Beyonce wouldn't be black but white and named Tarantino anyone would PRAISE her for her expert-citations..

  • but.... this is modern/postmodern dance and not just quick pop dance "moves"... i.e., the movement is weighted and the dancers are classically trained, and the difference is apparent to anyone with a background in dance or who has studied it on some level... this is quite difficult to do accurately (weighted/grounded), even to trained dancers

  • Very cool! I like this!

Big thank you to Beyonce rather than a law suit, as most of us wouldnt have ever watched this or appreciated it if she hadn't brought the style to our attention

The publicity this will get from her will be great! And really not the first ppl to dance using chairs or use a particular style of costume or setting so maybe appreciate that someone likes your work and thank them and get publicity that way rather than just trying to get publicity via lawsuit /shame

  • @Jeliah78 Having control about how repurposed material is used, even years after its creation, is part of why intellectual property laws exist. If De Keersmaeker had been asked by Beyonce and her team of lawyers whether she wanted to license some of her choreography for a music video she might have agreed to do it. The point is, it would have been her decision, and if she had decided to participate, she would have gotten paid for her contribution. did she? no and that's called theft.

  • @Jeliah78 Who said she wanted publicity?I really this get's settled quick.

  • haven't you seen Beyoncé mentioning her INSPIRATIONS? uhh, okay than

  • @sidbre2006 Why is she a hipster? Also, we ALL know hipsters don't work and most certainly don't dance to anything that's not The Black Keys.

  • DID J-SETTING COME FROM THIS?!?!?!

  • why whenever beyonce does something everybody want to make way she use relevant, like if she didn't use it nobody would be watching dis. Like i hate followers u guys need to learn how to be leaders!!!!!!

  • pure publicity

  • I don't see the Beyonce connection at all. Anything for the publicity I guess.

  • @rotarydialz HAHA! I LOVE Sarcasm!

  • I really don't get modern dance. How do you critique it? What are you supposed to look out for?

  • Yes, Beyoncé brought me here... I'm glad! I didn't knew this piece and I'm amazed, IT IS BEAUTIFUL !

  • @heiberarias wut do u mean beyonce brought u here did she twitter it or soemthing?

  • @ummmiloveu Beyonce Countdown video plagiarize a segment of this choreography.

  • @heiberarias technically beyonce did not bring you here. if it wasn't for her being called out on her choreographic plagiarism you STILL would have never seen this. her saying that she was trying to "generate publicity for the original" is the most ridiculous thing i've ever heard. while her "funny face" and diana ross references were very easy to read, how many people in the general public are educated on belgian contemporary dance? give credit where credit is due, beyonce!

  • @heiberarias u r funny cunt...

  • これが問題のビヨンセ盗作疑惑のだね。椅子使ったのって他にいっぱいありそうだし、振り付けも、そんなにパクリって感じもしないなぁ

  • Why copy though?? Just do something original for ONCE!! Shes known for this shit always emulating other peoples work

  • @MissyMcQueen ..and you just keep on watching her dontcha'...LOL!!

  • @bella50008 Typical comment, how many others have you used it on? At the end of the day news is news. You gotta see what these overpaid artists think they can get away with next.

  • impressive work though i must admit, the first girl with long hair is the one i'm drawn to watch - her moves are powerful and meaningful.

at least beyonce copied from a creative and talented choreographer :) haha

  • Thanks Beyonce, can't say I'm particularly a Beyonce fan, or an aficionado of contemporary dance - but I wouldn't have found this any other way. And it's made my day a little brighter.

  • Anyways, at least America is hip to awesome art now. This is older, but it makes me think of the stage dance that used to be filmed in the 40s, 50s and 60s in America -- like Katherine Dunham's stuff!! Great stuff! I am really enjoying this clip. The energy is ridiculous. Wish I knew the real significance of it, but I really love it!!

  • Beyonce and her team are not stupid. They know that if they blatantly copied this, they'd be facing lawsuits. They didn't copy everything but rather took inspiration from this and made it their own. I'm sure they consulted with this Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker before even making the vid.

  • @kimydeguzman They Didn't

  • @kimydeguzman They did not, otherwise Anne Teresa would not have made a fuss about it. It wasn't even here who initially noticed the resemblance.

  • Yes people, Beyonce brought me here.

I was so damn curious I just had to.

    Now, who the eff cares?

    This is freaking epic.

  • Que bosta ..... No que Beyoncé copiou ?? Esse clipe é ridículo ....

  • It's disturbing!

  • KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK 'nothing to do .. nothing to see even in the video below I see is a bunch of retarded, shake it like some worms tired of life .. for the love of God right? denounce Beyoncé, who made a video as "Max" "Wonderful" u like this? Spare me has nothing to do, nothing to see it, these women want to make money over the other Save me Save me dear ..

  • @TheMeuvlog 'Man eu concordo com vc....

  • Do they have a headache after all that?

  • thanks

  • elas são mulheres muito lindas!!

    ,

    they are very beautiful women!!

  • omg this is so weird! i first watched this video a few months ago for my GCSE dance...now it's randomly in beyonce's video!

  • Well, one reason why this piece isn't as popular as it should be, is because there wasn't YouTube back then...this would have been a sensation!

But I am glad that Beyonce referenced it in her video, because it brought me to this incredible piece. I could never have seen it otherwise....

  • Only reason I'm here is because beyonce did it and I wanted to see why she chose this piece to pay homage to...now I see why. It's amazing!

  • the difference between beyonce and this is simple: this has a concept and a method to achieve the perfect demonstration of this concept - so it has a MEANING. beyoncé is all about nonsense dancing and sexual appeal. xoxo

  • @inverteebrado Of course. Beyonce is a commercialized artist. 'Nonsense dancing' and sexual appeal really do sells!

  • @akmalhakimvlog You think so? Beyoncé have an amazing voice, that's why she's famous. Lady Gaga is famous because of all those crazy outfits and naked posing. Beyoncé isn't! Shout your mouth, you don't know what you're talking about! Beyoncé is one of the greatest and best artists ever! She's legendary!

  • @BeyonceEsmee You may say that, but it's the fact that almost all female artists or singers sell their albums and arts through sexual appeal. Name whom who doesn't...but, no hard feelings.. I am a Beyonce' fan too! Love her musics and dance :)

  • @akmalhakimvlog adele

  • @akmalhakimvlog but your right, there's not many

  • Menuda mierda, ¿de verdad que Beyoncé se ha copiado de esto? NO!

  • I don't get the hype lol Beyonce did a 10-20sec clip of a 8min dance and she didn't even dance in it lol she just wore the same clothes and had the chair and the empty room lol

  • you should be honored that Beyonce made a tribute to this

  • Comment removed

  • Yes B brought me here..I really can see why Beyonce copied Rosas because this is very neat and classy...clean,strange,art,classic form of dancing....Good Job!!!!!

  • lol seriously in Beyonce's video the part of the scene is not even long and its a bit different in Beyonce so why be jealous...

  • Well, it's actually the next one where you can see the resemblance...

"Rosas Danst Rosas Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker 3"

  • @Heyu7her3 Thanks so much, that makes a lot clearer!

  • Ya'll mad because Beyonce is the biggest pop star in the world right now and she earn 16 grammy's!!!!! So Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker needs to have a seat on that damn chair and be GLAD that Beyoncé be inspire by her work (who's amazing btw) & made her relevant in this generation! Merci

  • @JeynielBrown That's a good way to say "Beyonce blatantly copied this but I don't care".

  • @JeynielBrown Anne said she wasn't contacted to be apart of the piece,so there's something wrong.
