Now what i understand is that they found no proof of an ongoing wmd program, however they still had stockpiles of highly lethal weapons. From chemical weapons to 1.7 metric tons of weaponized uranium. thus not only proving that Hussein lied about, but also that they COMPLETELY violated the UN sanctions, and the UN either didn't catch them (which speaks volumes about the legitimacy of the UN) or they simply didn't care (wouldn't put it past them either). Some looked very new homemade rockets and missles. Just a small amount of siren or mustard gas can seriously hurt or kill hundreds. The landmines are just an example. It's not a war for oil, it's a war for control of oil. Before the war Saddam's Iraq was producing 2 million barrels of oil a day for the world in it's oil for food program. The war stopped that flow and sent oil prices higher because there was less oil to fill demands. This also allowed Saudi Arabia to lower the amount of oil it produced since America was now even more dependant on them than ever.

So yes, the war was about oil. It's the supply and demand economy, stupid.

He was selling oil receipts for less then their value for cash in his hand and then used the money to stock pile weapons instead of feeding his people. OPEC controls oil production not Iraq; I highly doubt a Brit gets the energy industry.
