Er not similar to Maslow , Maslow studied well bodied mentally aware subjects, stating a crippled subject would yield a crippled psychology or words very similar Bill Glasser studied people at their worst in mental institutes and the prison systems he doesn't have a narrow view on mental illnes he terms it creative behaviour certainly a better option than putting a label on someone, Give them a label and its an excuse for them to blame the 'depression, alcoholism, angering and so on
I was introduced to Choice Theory in treatment by Ms Lucy Billings Robins. It changed my life. I no longer view myself as a victim and realize I am what I choose to be. I no longer have to wallow in self pitty and am sober.
Thank you for making this video and posting it on the internet. The video is a great summary and introduction to Dr. Glasser and Choice Theory, and I believe both are wonderful things to promote. Why did you make the video? And, how did you come across Dr. Glasser and Choice Theory?
I'm getting my masters in math education and had to do a presentation on Glasser for one of my classes. I used this as the intro to my presentation. Thanks for the comment.
I am a 5 year math teacher an use Glasser in my classroom. I am currently seeking my master's degree in Choice theory. It is VERY powerful stuff. The key for me is to ask questions instead of giving demands. Instead telling students "Don't do or do that"
asking "would you be willing to..." "Do you think it is a good idea to..." "What would you like to see happen?" are HANDS DOWN the most effective way to teach in my opinion.
That's excellent that you are being exposed to this. I am also studying it getting a MA in Rehab and Mental Health counseling. This is very important for any teacher, as are things like constructivism. Sadly, I think teaching is still stuck in the stone age
I believe in Reality Therapy. More Glasser vids please.

Where I disagree with Glasser
* his narrow view of Mental Illness
Having said that, Choice Theory, and Reality Theory, are extremely beneficial and can be modified to fit a particular practice or setting.
