i think it's happening in this OVA as well... but not that I hate it, I actually find it very amusing and fun..

um ok but you do realize almost all gundam series are the same (not OVAs). The main character has a gundam, main character breaks down after every fight, he gets an upgrade mid story, fights a masked enemy who isn't the truly bad character but more a rival, main enemy chucks some big thing at earth with the rival in a new super mobile suit defending it, main character gets an even better super suit and wins.

Well, I still applaud the UC because it was the first era of Gundams. But G Gundam will always be my favorite. SEED was kinda good but the fantards kinda destroys it. Wing and 00 has kinda similar stories so...meh.

I actually just finished watching the first OVA, & it is -QUALITY-. It's set in the UC 0096, 3 years after the events in 'Char's Counterattack.

If you're a fan of the WTF side-story & alternate universe gundam shows (wing, X, V, SEED, etc), sorry guys, it's original timeline. Expect newtypes, Zion, Mobile armors, and over the top gritty drama.

It's thankfully NOT directed by tomino, so at least everyone isn't going to die ;p

Uh... V, as in Victory? That's a part of UC. It's not an alternate universe series, neither is it a "WTF side-story" just because it takes place in the far future. Not to mention Newtypes existed in X, and Mobile Armors are hardly that uncommon among AU shows.

SEED is an anti-war gundam just like 0080. I liked it, but I loved 0079 too. It couldn't have been average because it was the first one. However, because you probably saw Wing first which in my opinion, really sucked balls, then you kind of have a biased opinion.

Also, I hate Code Geass and I'm not a fan of death note.

Hold on buddy, no you got it all wrong about 00. First off I do have to agree with you about the original Mobile Suit Gundam; in fact I have to say almost every uc related gundam series kicks ass for the past 31 years{except MS Victory}but 00 is a huge departure from almost every Gundam series and it introduced some good old political aspects back in the genre along with reasonable protagonist traits such as invulnerability but to say it destroyed its own potential I just can't agree with that.

I don't know how anyone can say that Gundam Wing had the best story. Not to discredit its plot of course, but essentially it took cues directly from older UC shows, particularly with Zechs being a carbon copy of Char (down to "throw a big object at Earth"). The show is also littered with plot devices and plot holes. As for music, that's a matter of taste. I for one appreciate the more orchestral themes used in UC shows, but I nevertheless enjoyed the music in Wing.

Although I have to say this is a dream come true. I've been waiting for a classic style Gundam series for 10 years now.

But why does every gundam series start the same way? It's always some secret base developing a new suit gets attacked and some random kid finds himself in the gundam. You can tell its the same in Unicorn (the scene with the fire and the gundam trying to break free of its restraints).
