  • So many fine acting performanves testify to Costner's direction. I grew up in South Dakota and some of the cast were friends or friend's children. Floyd Red Crow Westerman was a real life warrior fighting the deadly uranium mining killing Native peoples...and killed him. Proud to say he was my friend. The REAL star of this wonderful film, however, is South Dakota!

  • Thank you for this upload! It's my favorite of this movie - out of all I have seen - great blend of scenes and music!!!

  • what a great movie

  • thanks--what great memories

  • The little boy at the end came to my school today. All grown up now and very wise! Telling uss about how he grew up and what we have to look out for.. He said some things I will never forget!..

  • My current teacher was in this movie ;o

  • Can someone please tell me what kind of writing the logo is? Really want to use it on an album cover. Thanks

  • i wish i had a paintin of 2:24 so very cool

  • "Aho mitakuye oyasin."

I saw this movie when it first came out, I had a copy on VCR tape, I have had a DVD wide-screen copy for many year & watched it many times. But usually skip to the end scene just before the wolf & horse get shot. I post this wonderful clip under some of my special album photos of my 2 facebook profiles since it expresses my wild spirit within. I look forward to the beginning of the next Mayan calender (2013) so I can return to the wild.

    Many thanks, Marty. (Kickingwolf)

  • When you see films like this you realise just how wonderful is the art of movie making and how lucky we all are to live in an age when it is available to all

  • "It's Always Been About Power & Greed Since the Beginning Of Time"

    ~

Our World Will Eventually End Because of it too unless all Humanity wakes up & unites as One to do something about it..

There's more loyality, caring & intellengence in many of our animal species then in Humans & we're suppose to be the smart ones..

We find it very hard to believe that in this vast Universe that we as Humans is as far as intelligence has advanced..

  • I am afraid we made the wrong decision who should live and who should die.

  • Realy, one beautiful film.

owh when the wolve was killed...its a shame.

  • just beautiful, thoroughly enjoyed it thanks

  • Beautiful Kevin Costner:)))

  • Wonderful.

  • Dances with Wolves was actually the result of fantastic editing. The unedited version completely throws off the whole delicate balance of the original masterpiece which won "Best Pic. of the Year" in 1990.

  • GRAN PELICULA

  • ok .....no problem !!!

  • that US guy who was gonna shoot that kid, I knew his Revolver wasn't gonna fire. It's a blackpowder pistol, it was in the water! The powder was soaked, not to mention the wad too, im sure bullets back in the day were not leakproof either, the cap!

    :) very good movie!

  • MASTERPIECE KEVIN-BARRY

  • This is one of the movies I can watch over & over because it's GOOD.

  • Whenever I watch this I remember History Class where Mr. Viens first showed us this movie.....the days when Hailey and I were still hanging out everyday......god i miss her so much..... :( </3

  • awesome

  • my favorite movie....i love it.........thank you very much....respect....

  • my favorite movie....i love it.........thank you very much....

  • Thank you! I really enjoyed this.

  • excellent

  • Amazing !!! Thank You John Barry !!

  • beutiful.

  • Great movie! And might I add and important movie too. It was a huge succes here in Europe and it was a real "eye opener" for many Europeans, up until Dances with Wolves the only movies most Europeans had ever seen featuring 1st Nations Americans or rater white actors dresses as 1st Nations were old westerns made by white people for white people. Today I cannot think of one fellow Europeans that I have met who hates 1st Nations people...in fact you have our deepest respect.

  • The best movie I have ever seen. Hymn of unity of humankind

  • please allow embedding of this...

  • One night I was bored and was flipping through channels when I stumbled across this movie. I LOVE IT!

  • he scared that poor indian with his naked ness lol

  • Tatonka!

  • I Love this movie, but the book is even better. The ending is better. In the book, when Dances with Wolves and Stands With A Fist are ready to leave the tribe, Ten Bears tells Dances with Wolves that when the white soldiers come looking, they will not find Lt. Dunbar, and will not recognize Dances With Wolves. :-)

  • john barry gone 2 better place hopefully//

  • MARRY ME WIND IN HIS HAIR!..RODNEY GRANT IS SO BEAUTIFUL IN THIS FILM!

  • Isso que é filme de qualidade.

  • they all have their ignorant moments

  • I also love this movie, but it is so hard to watch. I get so disgusted with the ignorant ways of some of the soldiers. i cry every time I watch, I used to hope they would make a second movie, but that would be just as sad. If they survived, they'd just end up on the reservation. I watch it now to listen to the people speak Lakota. I learning the language and need to hear people speak it.

  • I absolutely love this song, it's so beautiful!

  • Two Socks... :S

  • This is my favorite movie of all time...beautiful movie and beautiful music (R.I.P, John Barry!). Dances With Wolves brings me to tears every time I watch it, and I've seen it many, many times...

  • yes RIP John bloody good soundtracks over the years

  • I think this movie currently holds the record in giving me the most goosebumps. :-D And for any of those who might own Red Dead Redemption; turn the tv-sound off and try riding a horse through the landscapes with the soundtrack to this movie on in the background. It's quite a rush. :)

  • movie takes place in 1863.. thats like yesterday..

  • R.I.P John Barry

  • Thank you John Barry for composing such splendid music. RIP.

  • How could anyone watch that and listen to John Barry's score and not weep for our Indians and their vanished way of life ?

  • RIP John Barry

  • costners brother Dan bought part of the Black Hills behind the Lakotas back !!!

  • I love your video. I added a video response to your page of a tribute I made to stands and John. Please comment :)

  • I don' recall some of those scenes; are they ones deleted from the final movie?

  • i am watching dances with wolves on tv what a beautiful movie its a shame that even today people are more concerned about the color of a persons skin or the way they look rather than their character and what a good heart they have, god made all of us i wish we could all get along and learn how to help each other rather than fight each other, this coment was not meant to insult any one, god bless

  • @chopitshop You are right on target, thank you for your words of wisdom :)

  • @salsalegend thank you

  • @chopitshop you truly did not insult me hooney . words well spoken . God bless you also .

  • tHE VARIOUS NATIVE AMERICAN TRIBES WERE CONSTANLY AT WAR AND OFTEN RAIDED THE ENENMY VILLSAGES TO PILLAGE, STEAL HORSES AND WOMEN AS SLAVES TO KEEP OR SELL. COLOR OR RACE HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THEM NOT GETTING ALONG. IT HAD TO DO WITH WANTING WHAT OTHERS HD AND BLOOD FUEDS. AGAIN IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH SKIN COLOER OR LOOKS. IT HAS TO DO WITH SURVIVAL . YOUR FRAME OF REFERENCE IS WHAT THE NEGRO COMMUNITY AND PUBLIC MEDIA AND SCHOOL SYSTEM HAS TAUGHT YOU.. THINK FOR YOURSELF.

  • @chopitshop When I went to the ARMY I never met a black man,or mexican, or really any other from all over.My thought was If they don't like me I will not like them. I made so so many good friends from all over race wasnt any thing to me. I miss my Army friends and some times think about them. I wish we had internet back in the 70,s I would still be in there lives as there brother.

  • @m109r1800 thank you for sharing your story, i am a 60 year old woman and i agree i wish we had internet back when i was young, my dad was a jockey and we grew up on the race track and we lived with people of different race and color , my parents always treated everyone the same i feel blessed for this , my mom always told be to look a persons heart, have a great day and thank you

  • @m109r1800 and thank you for serving our country♥

  • @chopitshop europeans civilizated america, so stop with that "poor indians" thing

  • This movie, along with other reasons also, was part of the reason my wife and I moved to Rapid City, SD. We love the nature out here, it is beautiful and truly the heart of America! The American Indians will always have my friendship and honor. They truely know the beauty of nature!

  • haha, watched this movie when i was real small. never knew that jimmy herman was a family friend XD

  • Great music and great movie which transports you back to a truely amazing time in Americas history. Pity the native Indians were treated appallingly by some the Europeans. Howver, I guess these were different times when nations were being born and we wern't there to know exactly why this dark side happened. I think more should have been done to return their lands as has been done in Australia.

  • Excellent match up of clips and music.

  • fuck te wolves

  • This is one of the best movies ever made i think. I love the soundtrack, and i think its really sad how the sioux got killed. :(

  • nice boardergirl20

  • Native Americans look alot like Mexicans or Ecuadoreans.

  • @98bigbutt That's because they are all the indigenous people of the Americas.

  • @98bigbutt IS NOT TRUE!ALL THEY ARE NATIVE AMERICAN ACTORS...RODNEY GRANT,GRAHAN GREENE..U SHOULD READ MORE!

  • @MegaLasirena,I know they are Native Americans. I never said they weren't at all.

  • @98bigbutt i mean...i can notice the diference between mexican and other natives, but maybe cause im latin american so....sorry if i was rude!

  • @MegaLasirena,Not really because they both look alike. Most of them.

  • #OMG Downloacl or watсh thіs movіe online роор.su

  • #OMG clownloacl movіe роор.su

  • great movie, couldve been bttr, i expected more than this though :(

  • @mushal7james7tony editing is an art, art is an interpretation of what the viewer sees and portrays. It was excellent!

  • @mushal7james7tony expectation is the mother of all fuckups it only leads to disapointment

  • You know all of this has been turned into a WalMart/McDonalds/CVS shopping centre parking place, right?

  • Magnificently created movie. The music is spell-binding. The script is brief and to the point. The kindness between fellowmen is protrayed with great hope. Wonderful video of the movie's memorable scenes.

  • I hope Kevin Costner makes another modern western soon.

  • two socks is thin... :)

  • I just love Wind in his hair's expression on his face when he tastes sugar for the first time :D Great actor

  • i love this movi

  • I really like the way you put this together Boardergirl.

    Very nicely done!

  • great movie

  • I think that this movie is a piece of history. Kevin Costner totaly transformed the way movies were made after that.

  • Bordergirl20 - Damn good,thanks for sharing

  • one of the best movies ever made, i always feel so satisfied when the indians ambushes the scums to free their friend, but a bit later on i feel so sad at the ending... 'good guys always win' that only happens in shit farie tale movies, the reallity is much more sad

  • What an awesome montage you put together. tow of the things that I love best about the movie is the sweeping panoramas and the incredible music. It's such a beautiful film as well as stirring. You captured that. Thanks

  • I cant believe its going to be 20 years in November since this movie came out in 1990, i was 18 years old. One of my all time fav movies of all time..an amazing masterpiece..they do not make them like this anymore. cant wait to see it in November at home.

  • this movie seems so long, but i always watch it whenever it comes on tv.

  • GREAT video....beautiful movie with beautiful people in it...beautiful soundtrack...beautiful Rodney A. Grant. :) This is a MUST for me to watch every now and then...thank you for sharing your video! :)

  • Beautiful!

  • Respect to the Great Sioux Nation.

  • @77AdHominem not only respect them but LEARN FROM THEIR BEING.

  • lol i love "Two-Socks"

  • Screw angry blacks. Sorry to you non-angry blacks. Haven't met many, though. Get over yourselves, for God's sake. I have no idea how you were raised but it certainly wasn't on a plantation. Grow the funk up. Live life. Look at what the Native Americans went through. You don't really find them moaning about everything or killing each other in the streets. Yes...every race does it. But if anyone out there doesn't secretly agree blacks are the worst at it...you're lying. Fooling yourelf.

  • @riegelnate

Actually Native Americans are in gangs and killing each other on the reservations. That seems to be the effect you white people have. It's ok though because you're about to blow each other off of the face of the earth.

  • @yaiqab lol silly redneck and your propaganda

  • i've seen it a thousent times ..... and still it makes me cry .

  • Master Achievement

    Wonderful story

Haha sorry to sound immature. I love this movie.

  • I can't believe that he is 51 yrs already, my how time flys!! YIKES!!

He's still beautiful, in fact, I hope to see more of him soon!

  • @RedDeadAustin well it may seem that way when your government steals from them, puts them on a patch of land to be out of sight and out of the way, forces alcohol into their communities by manipulating and enticing them. you actually don't know anything, do you. atleast not the truth.

  • @elinheartstristin f*ck that guy red dead douche. much respect to all the tribes! you are so right. manipulation and segregation happened to the tribes, afican americans, and many other minorities just so they could rub it in their face. f*ck these ignorant, brainwashed know-it-all, racist assholes. i can't believe rednecks can work a computer. what is happening?

  • me too !!

  • I'm not sure but I think dancing with wolves is the most beautiful films ever made.

  • @Tomilolo Probably...

  • this is the greatest best most awesomeness movie ever made of all time nothing can beat this film!

  • O YES and WHY did you kill all your lively hood?

    GREEEEEEEDDDDDDDDD

The EVIL that DRIVES us all GREED!

SAD that THE INOCENT ANIMALS and FISHES have to die DUE TO OR GREED!

    GOD Help us ALL!

  • Ya all killed the ta tonka!

Like you are all killing your own fish LOL

    Will you ever learn!

  • A really beautiful movie. I watched this like when i was 12 and my whole view on Native Americans changed after watching this amazing movie. Why don't they make such beautiful movies like this anymore.

  • @sesshy34 Why do you say it changed your whole view on Native Americans?

  • @PotawatomiThunder Coz when I was little, i often used to watch cartoons in which Native Americans were just described as Savages and crazy tribals. Since I'm not from US or Americas, I had absolutely no idea about Native Americans, how they lived, their beliefs, way of life etc. Thnx to this movie, I came to know such a great deal about them. It kinda made me want to know more about them and consider the fact that "History is written only by the winners" perhaps... =)

  • @sesshy34 Awesome, thanks for sharing. I didn't know people these days used to think that way about Natives.

  • Kevin invented a pump to separate the oil from water, spent his own money, time.

He did this and tried to sell the idea to the oil companies...they were not interested.

    HE IS ENLIGHTENED!!!!

  • Absolutely lovely.....brought a tear to my eye...well done for capturing the spirit of the film xxx

  • .........unforgettable........

  • USA.........................!

  • My favorite movie of all times.

  • Love it, love it, love it... the Sioux's are my tribe!!* My great cousin, Doris (White Faced Woman) Leader Charge, translated the entire movie into Sioux and taught the actors the language. She was also offered a small part in the movie by Kevin Costner. She can be seen in the video at 5:18-5:25 =)

  • great movie by a great actor. definitely one of my favorites

  • Civilisation is a human trait, it will never go away, it will always come back, their way of life and ours just didnt mix. And when this planet and its sun fades away civilisation will carry us to a new world, to a far and distant planet. If they are primitive we may whipe them out too just like the indians, humans and its civilasation will survive forever.

  • this movie was good, but could've been excellent. they should've showed natives without the inclusion of costner. similar to tom cruise and the last samurai. what a joke and disgrace.

  • @moelicious416 I think it was more about how someone with preconceived notions about a group of people can come to understand their way of life, and realize theres no need for racism and violence. I do wish there were more with just the people and no white men saving the day, but I thought it was still good.

  • Give us more of these Hollywood!!!

    Come visit my channel....

  • The one song at the beginning makes me think of Thanksgiving. I'm someone who is part Cheroke by the way.

  • OMG I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!!!!!!!! i can watch this over n over!

  • @ikkaaiyuk: You and I both brother. The music, the action, the story line is just epic.So many emoional changes go on in me when I do.

  • @ikkaaiyuk Yeah! I was gonna say the same exact thing!

  • @ikkaaiyuk Same but my Family doesn tget how i can

  • I love the lakota language it sounds so cool and every second or third sentece ends with something that sounds yellow! it dosent matter what they talk about its always yelo at the end ;P

Love this film I've seen it like 28 times and one just wanna see it again :] A True masterpiece! I like Smiles A Lot (alot ;]) but I think wind in his fair is the most cool :D

  • I'm reading the book, it's awesome.

  • @1DasOmen Also just read the book! Couldn't put it down!

  • that book is one of my favorites..... and i love the movie! One of the best movies I've ever seen!

  • I just watch this movie on TV(1000th time), great movie, but i never understood why Pawnee Indians in this movie look like Iroquois or Indians of Eastern Woodlands. I know that in earlier times they weared scalplocks in the battle, but not in the middle of XIXcentury. War colour of Pawnee surrounded and killed by Sioux is hand over the face, that's right, but tomahawks are more Iroquois or in some parts Sauk and Fox type. I just noticed this detail.

    Greets from Serbia

  • dude you are pro :)

  • Well if its any consolation most the actors who played the "Pawnee" were Algonquin natives from the east cost.....

  • that has to be a body double.

  • really, i didn't know that! I love this move, i can't wait to see the directors cut. Thanks for the info!

  • thanks for great video :)

  • I loved this movie so much, my dad loves it very much also, its a total masterpiece, it did teach me a very valuable lesson indeed about life itself. perfect movie.

  • Have you seen the directors cut ? I tell people you haven't really seen the movie until you've watched the directors cut. It's about 4.5 hours long on DVD but you'll see that they deleted half the movie for the theaters.

  • I played sheet music from the movie on my Violin in Orchestra with the rest of my peers in high school, and it was a very enjoyable time so hearing this brings back memories.

  • Beautiful!!

  • avatar minus silentrunning

  • i love this film, i;m always crying at the end, and I seriously don't understand why the white people were doing all this to the indians. they were first, its their land!

this is indeed a quite upside down world we're living in

  • @eefie99 makes me Cry to, the bonds he makes with the Indians. The part when his indian buddy is up on the hill top shouting "i'll always be your friend" makes my cry.

  • and yet it happened again in Australia with the Aborginal peoples, and right now in Israel with the Palestinians...

    :-(

  • Hey, do you know this joke? Pissed Little Red Cap meets the Evil wolf in the forest. She says: You idiot, I´ve been waiting for you at my grandmother´s house for a such a long time, so you could easily eat me, and you don´t even bother to come! The wolf looks exhausted, and breaths hard. Then he finally cathches his last breath and says: Sorry, kid. Kevin Costner met me on the turn and danced with me for three long hours!

  • Viva os Verdadeiros Americanos ! Lindo filme linda musica

  • Mans inhumanity to man. When he could no longer take it, he started living with his heart. His heart opened up and he truly understood that living "from the heart" is what we were meant to do. A lot of people believe they have some predisposed place of importance, and that gives them the right to kill others.Because their ideas, doctrines, and beliefs are more important than others. We are all one race, the human one. This movie causes me to call up great memories with my children and my Dad.

  • @rongenman give me a break! I have to admit I came upon a DWW page to post a tidbit I on the TV show Pawn Stars. Your comment though caused me to blow a fuse. "living from the heart?" PLEASE! The Souix and Cheyene killed everyone who stood in their way. It has always been survival of the fittest. It is mankinds curse! His duty he must pay to the animal world for which he is a part.

  • i love that show i watch it everytime it's on in fact i'll see it later

  • Thank you love this film x
