after watching nearly every alexi lesson on youtube, i gotta say, that he sucks as a teacher. he is a great guitar player and he is really creative but in those "lessons", he always looks so bored and he doesnt give good tips to make it a bit easier to play or something, he just says: here is a shred, *shreds* "here it is slow" *plays it slower* that is not very good teaching to me other rockhouse teachers like dan or michael paget or buz mcgrath explain nearly every section of a solo.

No you don't, it is their to help you along. Like when you get to a point and are just stumped, thats where music theory kicks in. It is also the standard way musicians communicate, so they can learn songs and what not faster. Best to do what works best for you!

well the first riff is not very technical, it's just damn fast. And about the solo, don't forget he was elected best lead guitarist, unlikely for nothing but rather because he's damn good. He has played guitar very intensely for more than 10 years so for him it's probably not THAT complicated.

Just do like him : work it a lot, start slowly, grow speed when you fell comfortable with your performance. To nail a bodom song, it can literally take months, don't forget this !

Yeah i think it'll probably be the amp..

Marshalls sometimes tend to have a lighter kind of overdrive, as compared to a crunchy distortion. Really depends on the model.

But just try rear pickup setting, Gain on full, then just fiddle with the amps EQ and see how close you can come to getting it :)

get a better guitar basswood is not a good material get something with Mahogany or alder most likely you will be set if not study amps and consider overdrive or distortion pedals

mahogany is deffinately a good choice if you're running alot of gain or distortion however if you're running off an amp any smaller than 30 wattts the guitar isnt going to matter that much

Basswood has its own unique sound which is great in mid to high end, which gives a strong, yet warm and smooth tone. The main concern with that wood is that there are lots [and lots] of dodgy forms of basswood that can sound horrible, but good quality basswood sounds great, a mix between alder and mahogany. Plus it's extremely light.
