  • I'd ne'er thought watching a 10 minute video of someone putting on a tube of lipstick would be so mesmerizing!

  • I love wearing red lipstick but it always ends up "bleeding" and making my lips look messy and blurry. How can I prevent this?

  • I wish shed get to the point with her vids because they are crazy long.

  • You look so much like Christa Miller!

  • Red lips really suit you!

  • this is for "mere mortals" lol

  • I recently suggested a Mary Poppins look for a tutorial idea, and after watching this, it's the perfect Mary Poppin's red lip, lol! It must be your lovely accent (and lip shape) but something about your features always makes me think of Julie Andrews in that role, lol!

  • is mac's russian red more orangy than the ruby woo???? coz i have that instead and my skin is more to the yellow/pale side than pinky/pale :P

  • I wore my first red lipstick (ever) last night. Thanks to you I had the confidence to carry it. Great videos. Thank you!

  • @alkea5 lovely to hear, thanks for letting me know : ) X

  • Your videos are so 'to the point'! Well done and THANKYOU

  • Fantastic!! I used this technique when I went out last Fri. It was the first time Ive tried to wear red lipstick. I used MAC Ruby Woo lipstick with Mac Cherry lip liner.... Amazing!! It really did last the whole nyt and I got loads of compliments from my friends! Thanks Lisa x

  • @rowenavelasco yay! So very cool to hear that! X

  • Great

  • "snog proof" you're so cute ^_^

  • Can you do a tutorial on how to match the undertones of lipstick and blusher? For some, like pinks, it seems obvious, but for reds, corals, and some of the in-between colors, I find it hard to tell. Thank you!

  • Did you use ruby and millie blush? It seems it has been discontinued, what can i use instead?

  • !! you replied to me! YAY

  • this is a good way to go from work to evening out makeup. just simply add red lips and/or shimmer on the eyes depending on where your going :)

  • @03Jilani yes its perfect for that x

  • wheeee! Ruby Woo for the win! :)

  • far to long toturial for just som simpel red lips !

  • nun bin reich aber einsam

  • you reminde me of snow white :) <3

  • Your skin look instantly paler when you put on the red...

  • @jessicatsai233 yes it always does ... red is very draining on skin as are dark shades too. x

  • Oh my GOD your lips are beautiful!! *__*

  • Lovely as always!

  • How do you keep red lipstick from feathering or bleeding into the area around the mouth? That is by far my biggest problem :(

  • @westiemae What she showed should help with that.

  • Love ur approach to make up!

When I do the matte red lip I can see a distinct line of red colour and my natural lip colour(when I part my lips even slightly), especially on my lower lip as it as fuller.

    could u plz help?

  • "snog-proof" - made me lol

  • hi Lisa, love your videos! I'm such a big fan! My lips have a weird shape. I have a scar on the corner of one that kind of makes me lips look lopsided and my bottom lip is down turned. I'm only 27 so I don't thinnk that it's a saggy-ness that comes with age and they've always been that way! lol Is there anyway to down play that so that I don't always looks like i'm frowning? Especially with a classic red lip like this one!!

  • does this "stain" method only work with matte lipsticks?

  • I find it easier to put lipstick on first and then lip liner as well. Im glad you do it like this as well! haha

  • i like it....sexy

  • hehe, snog proof...

  • Hey Lisa, I was wondering if instead of buying a new blusher to match your lipstick if you could use the lipstick as a creme blush? Or would that be too much? xx

  • Snog proof! Ha! I love it.

  • Hi Lisa, I was wondering if you've ever used the product Lipcote? If you have, would you recommend using it over this makeup look?

I tried using it once over red lips, but I think that it can only be used over lips that are dry and don't have any moisture, gloss or balm on them, as when I applied it, my lipstick started peeling off 15 mins later! Could you recommend any other tips for making lipstick stay? Like maybe using loose powder before application etc. Thanks so much!

  • This is awesome! And really helpful. I have to agree with the person who said you look like Snow White, I was thinking that before I read that comment.

  • These really little variantions and tips... amazing! I wish we would have had such tutorials in the 80s :-9

  • I am horrible at lipstick application of any sort. I shall have to try this : )

  • Ladies - remember to whiten your teeth if you use red lipsticks... since the red makes teeth that are tinted yellowish or stained from coffee/tea/wine look even worse.

  • what lipstick you suggest lisa for a warm pale skin ...ruby woo which is in the cool side or lady danger which is orangy red?

  • Thank you so much for this video, all of yours are amazing (I am addicted to them) and I am a HUGE FAN of a red lip, which I have been painstakingly trying to perfect!! You're the absolute BEST!! xo ;-) Beth in Pgh

  • Hi Lisa! I was wondering which is the best red lipsticks for different skin tones, i have purchased some lipsticks in different shades of red but they simply don't pop on me. I have heard that you should see if your yellow toned or pinky toned to pick an ideal red lipstick for you, would you correct me if Im wrong or give me any tips? thanks,

  • You are absolutely brilliant.

  • You are absolutely brilliant.

  • Could anyone recommend there fave lip colour for extremely pale skin? :) x

  • @TheFelicityCullen I really like violetta from MAC

  • flawless

  • Sometimes I struggle with lip-liner and bright lipstick because I have full lips in the center but sort of "pinched in" in the corners. I always have to wipe off makeup around the corners. Should I apply color to the corners at all? If you have any suggestions I would appreciate it!

  • Hi, Lisa! I was wondering, what brand and colour is the lipliner pencil? I don't think you've mentioned that? Thanks and keep it up, I adore your tutorials! X

  • *i meant helpful =]

  • Hi Lisa :) In continuation with cheeky3300's comment, would working the lipstick really well into the lips make the creases look less visible since the lipstick is kind of filling in the spaces? I have creases aswell and it's a pity that i can't wear some darker colours comfortably :( thanks and keep it up! Your tutorials are very useful =] x

  • i am an nw 15 in mac studio fix fluid. i can never seem to find a red that suits me...what do you think? russian red? lady dangers (my mom says it looks too orange on me)? ruby woo?

  • I so agree with the Snow White comment. You look more like her than the lady who plays her at disney world.

  • this is great way i love using occ lip tars its like a liquid lip stain i like the idea of lining the lips after my bottom lips is bigger then my top so i only line my top lip just to even it out i love symmetry lol

  • Very pretty, I never believed in lip pencils because I thought that using lipsticks would be fine, but seeing how much that a lip pencil could give a soft focus to the lips makes me want to buy one! :P Thank you again Lisa.

  • i love you!!!!

  • darker hair looks beautiful on you. your so striking x

  • Michelle Phan, THIS is how you do a red lip.

  • The blusher tip is wonderful! I would have used a pink blush and wondered why I looked daft! Brilliant video.

  • lisa i absolutely love your video's, however it seems regardless of how many video's i watch my technique doesnt seem to get any better, do you know anywhere i could go for one-on-one lessons?

  • Are you supposed to line your lips to create an even lip shape or would you just outline your lips as they are? It's always confused me.

I know this is an older video so if anyone viewing is able to answer please do so.

    :)

  • @lorraineisthewalrus I'm not an expert at all, but I think you should start by lining your lips as they are, and if after that they seem uneven, then do what you need to do to even them out.

  • lol i love your 'mere mortals' comment

  • You make pale skin look so so beautiful ! Your making me want to ditch the fake tan haha !

  • Snog Proof, I love it, it's hilarious and serious at the same time

  • Hey Lisa,

I'm a huge fan of your vids and I've learned a lot from you! Thanks so much!

I have a question: I love using lipstick! Absolutely love! Especially bright colors. My problem is, how to keep certain lipsticks from "bleeding" out. Luckily it doesn't happen with matt colors, but with creamy ones it tends to happen. I'm in my twenties and it's not that I have huge wrinkles around my mouth, but a few tiny lines.

Any advice how to avoid "bleeding"?

    Thanks again!

  • I'm African American and my bottem lip is red and the top lip is brown. Matte lipstick looks fine because it's obaque but what shld I do when wearing lighter shades?

  • snog proof? It is sad, because I only know what that means because of Harry Potter.

  • Its Snow white!!

  • The red lips and the color of your shirt remind me so much of Andie Macdowell in the movie Green Card. Just as you, she looked very beautiful with the strong red lip and soft neutral eyes. I think you're just fabulous!

  • @SeleneLilitu I work with lots of models and actresses who have that, so you are in good company. You have to make the shape when the lips are relaxed (if that makes sense) and use a little gloss or more glossy lipstick on top to distract from the creases. X

  • awesome... :)

  • The blush made such a difference. You are THE BEST!!!

  • Hi lisa I love your work and I 'm so glad that you share your talent with all of us.

I also have ruby woo which I think looks really nice on pale skin but not so great on tan skin. I am NW35 during the summer, brown hair and brown eyes and I was wondering which lipstick would look best on me. I am hesitant between chanel laque in dragon or coromandel. Which one do you recommed? Thank you x

  • Unfortunately I have fish lips. This would look ridiculous on me. I'm quite jealous of women who can pull this look off.

  • wow. a proper MUA on youtube? Crazeh.

  • hi lisa this looks really nice on you ,i want to ask you that i do my eye make up really nice but as soon i do my mascara my eyes goes red really fed up can you tell me why is this happens to me ?please

  • never thought of doing it this way! thanks x

  • Hello lisa, i just recently began to watch your videos, and i love how professional you are. i have a very vibrant red lipstick and love the color that it gives me. i usually use it for just a stain, because i find it very oily, do you have any advice on how to get rid of the oily feel on my lips?

  • Lips red as blood. Hair black as ebony. Skin white as snow :)

  • ive watched so many of your videos today and ive been trying to figure out who you remind me of and ive just realised it's mary louise parker!! love your videos!!

  • lol mere mortals

  • seriously... ur my new favourite guru! i have no idea why its taken me so long to find u lol

  • Smokin! :)

  • much love from a canadian fan :)

  • Although this video is about lips, this is by far my favorite eye look for you. Any chance you'll make a feature on soft smokey eye like this one?

  • im sure this would be a lovely holiday look as well :)

  • Love the look!

    Really good tips and tecniques!

I think it´s somehow very modern and very classic at the same time:)

    Greetings:))))))))))))))))))))))))))

  • wow, thank you for this video. i have a hard time smearing red lipstick. you are really good. thanks for the tips :) you"re amazing with makeup.

  • i wish i could get started as a make up artist. I did the course for a year and have all the make up a girl can dream of, but i have almost no clients whatsoever. I don´t know how to start :(

  • Stunning red lips!

  • lisa help me! i just found out about your videos today and they are totally BRILLIANT! my issue is i'm very white but i have a very pink undertone on my cheeks so some reds look TOO red and some make me look very yellow...what ever shall i do? (;

  • this warm brown absolutly doesnt fit to this cold red :) cold gray eyes would be in a way better :)

  • Comment removed

  • would you ever consider doing a video on how you got your career started? not that i want to see another video on how to be a make up artist, i am just more interested in your personal story :) i would for sure watch that. Beautiful as always!

  • I think you should add background music to your vids! Just something ambient with no words.

  • love this it's SUPER helpful.I'm unsure what shade of red lipstick would suit me, I'm NW 20 in MAC foundation and I have dark hair and green eyes.Any tips on what to look for?I know Ruby Woo is very pigmented but do you (or anyone else!) know of anyother shades that would be a good dupe as I'm a student on a budget!?Thanks!!!

  • @jessieXbean

Bourgois make an excellent series of reds. They are STUNNING. Every shoot that I have done that requires a red lip, people have commented on how beutiful they are :-) Just go and swatch all of them and see which you like best!

  • Hi Lisa I love the red lip look but I was wondering if red lipstick would look silly on me as I have full lips

  • @kerry12345 lucky you! It will look fabulous! It is a matt texture so they wont look too big x

  • Hi Lisa, how did you make up your eyes, they look so beautiful, thank you very much.

  • absolutely amazing, love it. my english is not as good to explain how much i like this video, thanks for share :)

  • hi lisa, amazing videos, i love ur work and talent! i am of indian origin, nc 37 in MAC studio fix fluid... which red is better for me? ruby woo or russian red lipstick? and what you recommend i put on my eyes with it? i have very dark brown eyes (almost black) plz reply.. many thanks

  • @cheeky3300 Thank you! Its hard to say without seeing you in person. Ruby Woo is more vivid so its more about how much you want to really stand out. Both shades have bluish undertones so both would look very good on you. I would keep your eyes quite simple maybe just liner and a fairly neutral shadow to shade. As both of these lipsticks are matte its nice to have a bit of shimmer on the eyelids to add dimension.

  • Hey lisa you look stunning as usual. Can you tell me what mascara you used in this video, your lashes look amazing! thanks

  • @bilai135Thanks! I used the Max Factor False Lash effect one

  • loved this video!

  • tremendous.

  • Hi Lisa. Fantastic video- thank you. Could you please tell me what lip liner you used in this vid? Thanks

  • @ElectricBlueStars Its Boots No7 Red but you can use any good red liner x

  • Cannot wait to try this !

    Thanks !

  • Great Tips! I've never heard of it being done this way Thank You soo much for the tip off. Very attractive look.

    Peace~

  • Hi Lisa were the colours on your eyes at the beginning also from that same pallet? I've got dark eyes and olive tones and am always trying to find the perfect colours to create the look on the eyes that you did. Great channel!

  • You look a lot like Nigella Lawson. Awesome tutorial, thanks!

  • Brilliant tutorial !! This look is flawless, absolutely perfect ! The eyeshadows are gorgeous too :)

  • omg that palette u used to add shimmer to ur eyeshadow.. how is it called? i loved it, i wanna buy it..

  • "this is for me and mortals that haven't got perfect lips" hahaha, my best friend has the best lip shape ive ever seen:D

  • wow u have beautifull eyes :-D

  • beautiful red!

  • Is that an actual lip brush or a concealer brush?

  • Lisa, I love how your clothes always harmonize with the colours in your make-up - or maybe it's the other way around. :)

  • Lisa, I followed your advice and got the perfect lips that kept me dancing and drinking all night without toping up once! At the end of the night it was looking as fresh and crisp as in the start!! Thanks so much!!!

  • Stunning! You look like a human version of Snow White!!

  • Thank you so much - I picked up loads of tips. I've always been scared to do a red lip as I always felt you had to have lips like Natalia Vodianova to pull it off but I think I'm just going to have to bite the bullet and do it! x

  • great tutorial lisa, you look so prettyy :) x
