some people forget that on the day that famous pictre was taken, thousands of children were starving to deat in the vicinity of the photographer... there was absoltley nothing he could do for anyone.. he was even told by aid people on tbe day not to try as it was useless, she was in effect 'already dead' yet his image DID make a huge difference when the world saw it.
@dprjones Regarding the question in the description, I personally prefer ustream because I can play it on my iPad. BlogTV just comes up as a blank box on iOS.
@zofoblues I disagree with your assumtion zofoblues. Even if we did gget rid of all God and Gods, I find it highly unlikely that it would solve anything. Based On my observations, with God around, starvation is weakening and it would be much worse without him. Of coruse your free to disagree, but that's just my viwepoint.
@LionidasL10 It's Welsh, and is about gentle Jesus, meek and mild. I think it's Xharlotte Church singing. She's not a fluent Welsh speaker, but if it's her, she did a good job.
Completely off topic, but I will vent here. I will fistf**k my intelligence tutor so deep he'll TASTE my fist! What the poop is the meaning of having reading lists for essays, if half the items don't exist at the Uni library? THIS AGGRESSION WILL NOT STAND!
This is disturbing. I don't see how anyone could be comfortable using these types of images to promote religion or non-religion. When you see an image like this, you shouldn't think "god is evil" or "god is great", you should think about what you can do to help.
I know the atheist community has come together, on many occasions, to raise money for charity, and so some churches. thats great, but we need to come together, as a species, to end this completely.
You completely missed the point. An atheist doesn't show a picture like this to say "god is evil", that's absurd because atheists don't BELIEVE in any gods. The whole point is to find meaning on our own, to come together as a SECULAR species to end horrors like this where religion has failed.
With all due respect, it's you who missed the point. I understand that atheists don't believe in god. Atheists do make the argument that if god is real, then he's an immoral asshole, if he is real. We're personifying something that we know isn't real. Are we on the same page now?
The reason why I wrote the comment was because the title and the context of the video suggested that if god were real, he's fucked up. Attacking religion by attacking the character of their god.
I think you're looking at it through a fractured lens. When I saw that picture that thought didn't occur to me at all, all I thought was "that's terrible, and praying won't help it, we need to do something about it ourselves".
Your generalization is also unwarranted, not ALL Atheists make the argument that if god were real he'd be an asshole, and those that do are generally referring to biblical scripture that represents him as such, not the inadequacy of this world.
"The whole point is to find meaning on our own, to come together as a SECULAR species to end horrors like this where religion has failed"
Birth control for one.
But here is the situation, we are ALWAYS going to have these problems. Organism poplulate based on availability of food. If we ncrease food people will just multiply more until we are back here again =(

@hughes7520 The photographer and journalist Kevin Carter who shot the picture, committed suicide a few months after collecting his Pulitzer price. He was sticking to the journalistic principle of being an observor and not getting involved. His picture saved more people than any other thing he could have done in this situation..
Very true and we all like to think we would have picked up that child and saved her but in highly distressing situations people rarely react like they hope they would. Maybe he just shut down emotionally after seeing such a horrible scene. The fact he killed himself, leaving a note saying he couldn't deal with the horrors he had seen along with money troubles shows he wasn't a heartless scumbag like so many paint him,
I think the real reason he got flak was he didn't take the child to the food/aid station she was trying to get to after he took his picture. That picture though really brought to light the horrible situation that was going on and is still going on in many places. Critics didn't consider maybe that in certain highly distressing situations people don't react like they think they would.
The purpose I see, to kill children. But then what is the design?

I think doing away with God and or Gods would go a long way in the war on starvation.

What is this song? Some pieces of it really sound like Myung's Theme from Macross Plus.

That picture of the child and the vulture is so horribly upsetting that words fail me everytime i see it.
You can see why the photographer won the Pulitzer for it.

And rightfully so. What despicable moron would leave that child there? It's bad enough that he even got a prize for his cowardice.
