this guy is the king, really good for music, we need more like him to take the pompus, stuffy, upturned noses qualities out of such a surprisingly free and great music which is the baroque....belissimo Matt, ur a true artist
I just discovered Matt via the Michael Lawrence Films Bach Project, and I can't get enough of his Bach playing. It's absolutely astonishingly beautiful and has a real interpretive depth and love for the music that I find very moving.

I could tell he was comfortable thinking about living in another time, expecially when he mentioned his 300 year old cello.. and the comment about asking folks to stop flushing... my goodness, where have our manners gone that one would even leave the room and cause a distraction? Color to B& W at the end was cool and wondered why the audience looked disconnected. The subject was an unusual approach and I admire your courage for that challenge.I enjoyed it. Thanks. Suzan
Spoke with him once. He is a fantastic human. He has outgrown ego.

He's got some great performances to his name, but unfortunately, you tell a lot about a guy from his shoes :-)

Brilliant cellist! Good spirit! Dumb questions, unfortunately...

A nice portrait, Rog. The audio was the most important on this one, and you didn't let us down. Excellent interview, too. -- David
