I often wonder if people who say 50 cent and eminem are the best rappers even listen to non-comercial hip hop. i mean there good but by no means are they the best. just becuase they sell more its because there marketed more, eminem doesnt even have the vocal complexity and lyrical poetry of mac lethal for example and 50cent is a poor mans 2pac (who is also over-rated)

Eminem would have still been good, but without Dre, both directly and indirectly, this wouldn't have happened.

I think Nas worked harder, he was the influence of Big L and influenced others from mixtapes before Illmatic. you made some valid points, but pac wasnt necessarliy a lyricist, he was a poet. he used other poetic techniques that rappers dont usually use, like alliterations and couplets, but they are harder to notice. but if you read the lyrics as if they are poetry, then u can understand the depth in his art. he also had a dope flow, good use of internal rhymes. and probably the realest and most inspirational and revolutionary rapper ever, he stood for a cause.
oh and eminem has passed pac in sales.
