  • and you seem like a really super person! Very intuitive and insightful. You ... have a glowing shine!

  • and when i figure out how to use you tube- ill try to view your profile and send a message to you. Love!

  • That was awful that 2020 twisted that! thats how it always is with the media! its slowly changing i beleive. people are realizing that its not cool to be dishonest, materialistic, judgemental, or greedy. that news man ionterviewing victoros was such a dark shadowy spirit! he didnt even know how to be real... how to do a REAL... interview...truly seeking knowledge ...an answer. its very frightening. but i deeply beleive and know this is all just a breif part in cosmic evolution!

  • the media twist alot.i once did a new documentary about the pro anorexia movement and how i was so against it etc and the story made me look like i WAS pro anorexic!!I was sooo mad!!and there was another girl there that really annoyed me so i guess my illness came out then in anger and so the interview was not portraying what i wanted. thankfully i had my faceblurred. thankfully your here to speak as well as you do. your a good voice for people.sorry rant over!!kisses xx

  • I wish they would have interviewed David Wolfe instead. He has an answer for all the ridiculous questions and accusations against Raw Foodism.

  • This is not about raw food. I dont know if you even watched the document. This is about a disease and ABC twisted it. The actual disease itself has nothing to do with raw food itself. ABC really took advantage of those willing to speak up on national news about something severe - which is not being health conscious but being mentally unstable and eating disordered. David W is niether of these things and I am sure he would say that orthorexics are in soul crisis and unstable - as did Victor.

  • so maybe stop to think for a moment how people on the show who support raw food and have used it for spiritual, health, nutritional lifestyle purposes, such as myself, think about how we feel aobut the outcome of our mixed up clips being made into a horrific misinformed show. Thanks. Many were outtraged including myself and now I am warned about the media.

  • I am a binge over-eating orthorexic.

  • Christ, then don't watch me.

  • I so seen that!! then i found you on youtube and was like..omg..ur a celebrity?? can i have ur autograph jk

  • I only give autographs to those who return them as I feel we are all equal regardless of public eye or status! Happy Humanity!

  • hey jonnie(jonny?) just wanted to say that i think you are such a great person! i love how you stay positive through your struggles you have such a great attitude towards life and i just really respect you and love your videos!<3

  • I have to say your issues are generally quite different from mine, and I would like to learn about things other people deal with that are very different from mine, so please bear this in mind as I watch and ask questions.

My first observation is that it seems that that 'eating healthy foods' doesn't seem to be the issues as much as failure to eat a satisfactory AMOUNT of those healthy foods, but I will look this up online and watch more of your videos and learn more.

    Thank you.

  • Thank you for the comment. Please watch my vids and read my profile as you will learn answers to your questions. Anorexia is my primary, bulimia secondary and orthorexia... I have that one in check right now. Thanks.

  • whoa u remind me of judge judy...

  • i looked it up... so, are vegans orthorexic? b/c to me that really fits the description! im really curious about this now..

  • No, I'm vegan and eat a shitload of junk food.

  • This has nothing to do with food, it has to deal with brain imbalance.

  • oh.. well the definition i looked up said that it meant people were obsessed with healthy food, so you know.. to me that says it is about food but what do i know? im just curious is all.

  • Food is never the root to the problem, food issues only become a syptom of a disease/disorder. The underlying issues to the development of the disease are what need to be looked at and food is not root deep, it's simply on the surface. Thank you for taking the time to want to learn more about this!

  • what is the difference btw anorexia and orthorexia??

  • They are two seperate diseases, watch my videos and learn more... keep an open mind though. I deleted your last comment in regard to my gender identity as I found it offensive. People aren't "thats" - We are all human beings here.

  • im sorry i didnt mean to be offensive. i was genuinely confused. transgender?? i dunno.. im gonna go look up orthorexia.. have a great day

    : )

  • omg just ignore that comment i checked out your profile which i should have done to start with and it answered a lot of questions.. sorry.

  • pulling down like that does your back muscles, it gives you that v shape. put one arm around your front and hold your side, then do that pulling down with your other arm and you might feel your back muscles :D

  • I just watched it. Good stuff.

  • good on you johnny!

  • I just recently discovered your video, thanks for sharing! My 2 dogs eat a healthy raw diet and I wish the best for you and your DOG.

  • i think you forgot to shave your chin

  • I think you forgot to open your eyes, I'm a dude.

  • I noticed. I just figured your trying to look like a lady, but girls don't have hair on their chins.

  • Well that's what happens when you assume. And for the record, yes some women do have hair on their chins due to hormonal imbalances. I guess I would best recommend that you 1. stop assuming things and 2. get yourself educated on things like the endocrine system so you don't make uneducated comments like the one above. Thanks.

  • You are right. I apologize for making such a mean comment. You must be a very kind, good person. You handle yourself very well, when others try to bring you down. Again I am sorry.

  • Wow, what a commendable comment to receive from you. Thank you so much, that is so kind of you. No hard feelings. I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend, I'm on a little me-time-vacation : )

  • Johnny, I saw your little tiny muscle and I LOVVED it!! You just GO and WORK that weight training!!!

    love from Above;

    abbie

  • I would love to see that documentary as I am orthorexic as well as anorexic myself,I am in the UK though,so I am unsure if I will ever get to see it.Its great people are going to learn more about the disease.

  • WOW! Congrats and cheers XD You are going to be famous lol ;)

  • \m/(^_^)\m/

  • That is really awesome! I am going to watch!

  • ill be watching.

  • Hi!

I am accessing this from Japan and i am learning about anorexia and found your video.

I think you are very brave and having a hard time...talking on these videos.Keep up your great work, and thank you for telling your true story.

  • That is so awesome, Johnny! w00t! HEHEH! I can say "I knew you when". :D *hugs*

  • LMFAOOO! Johnny, I love you. This made me laugh so hard! You are so beautiful and I dido the comment about effing Tila Tequila and you getting your own show. You would be the figure everyone would look to for recovery. :D

And you're still glowing which means, you're still on your path to getting healthy! I'm so proud of you and I can't wait to see your next videos.

  • Go Johnny go indeed :-D Well done on all your progress and it's very cool that you're going to be on TV spreading the word and educating people. And you are very cute when you get all happy and excited lol.

  • you get so disgustingly precious when you get excited. I've learned so much from ya too... just know that i can see that all your yummy vitamins and nutritional shtuff are making you more gorgeous every day :)

  • You deserve your own Tv show...or even chanel. Screw 'Tila tequila' YOUR REAL. I guarentee you, you could make 100,000 fans in no time just being you. You could make a difference...just being you. NOBODY IS PERFECT. WE ALL HAVE PROBLEMS! I LOVE YOU!

  • You are just too adorable! "I'm SO excited, you guys! Let's do a spin!" That was the cutest thing ever! I must say, I'm shocked as to how much energy you seem to have. I've seen people who look like you (in terms of weight) who can't get themselves out of bed in the morning, and certainly can't do weight lifting! I haven't seen any of your other videos, I'm going off to watch them right now, but I just want to tell you I think you're very brave for putting yourself out there. Best wishes!

  • Okay, I will be honest here. I was once this weight and lower and I couldn't get out of bed. I couldn't stand in the shower and could barely walk. It was my death bed, I was barely living. I don't know what happened, God - a miracle - but my raw food diet/nutrition has saved my life. We also have to take into factor that when I was veryyyyy ill I was throwing up 15-20 times a day and wouldnt keep food in and about 1 tablespoon of water at a time, rarely because I didnt want anything in my tummy

  • So I REALLY APPRECIATE you acknowledging where I am at today and how much better I am doing, thank you. It really motivates me to continue moving forward!

  • you are the modern day popeye!

  • 22343243232432 omg adjfdalsfjdlafj HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAH funniest thing, i flippen love it!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I'm new to your vlogs the weight lifting is really good for you. I was wondering if you have osteoporosis I was told about a year ago I have it (direct result of have ED's for 8 years) and it was a real blow and every thing you read about it its all for older people nothing for young adults.

  • Oh dear, I'm sorry to hear that. I have it SEVERE, my bones meet an 80 year olds, I'm 26. It is VERY upsetting but there is HOPE. I have a friend who has had it as bad as me and she restored a ton of health and bone density by recovering from anorexia and gaining weight. I am trying to get her to tell her story on YT. She's a friend of mine and comments in my box but I want to keep her privacy so if she sees this I know she will comment more on her story or I can just send her here!!!

  • Thanks so much for the reply. They told me I have the bones of an 80 year old also. I'm back up to a normal weight now after about 3 years in recovery so I'm hopeing my body can bounce back some. I think anything is possible. I think that you are so brave to be telling your story. I think your just fab!

  • Hi sanzo5, I'm responding to Johnny's reply to your comment. I had anorexia for nearly 30yrs and my bones were worse than that of a 90yr old (> 100yr old = off the scale in my hip). I did my PhD on bone metabolism in starvation + EDs. Bone is lost or never properly accrued with growth in energy deprivation. It's both nutritional and hormonal. With wt gain there is bone gain, but it's a slow process. Exercise may/may not help, depending how low weight is. (CONT)

  • With severe osteoporosis, exercise can increase risk of fracture, so impact and weight lifting exercise must be taken with caution. As bone density increases with wt gain, exercise is safer. I fractured a number of times when my wt was very low. There is a direct relationship between bone density and muscle mass. Not sure if you're still underweight. Message me if I can help. Yes, one day I will tell my story on YT!

  • Hi Misstiggykins,

It's been almost 3 years in recovery and I'm back up to normal weight. They told me I had the bones of an 80 year old also. Did they want to put you on medication for it? I told them no when they wanting be to do daily injections to help build some bone mass. All the medication out there is for older post menopause women.

  • Sanzo5, I totally agree. There is no effective medication for osteoporosis caused by anorexia nervosa. The mechanism of disturbance in bone metabolism is different to that observed in postmenopausal women. The treatments that work effectively in these women don't seem to do the same in younger women. (BTW, there's little research on men). I was put on HRT in my 20s for 10yrs and it caused many problems. It takes many yrs for bones to remineralise after wt gain, and this is often incomplete.

  • For the record, there IS a new drug out there they will be testing on younger people. My doctor asked a team of specialist if I would be a canidate to test bunny on (which I would NOT do in the first place) and they all came to conclude that NO, it would be extremely dangerous due to 1. my current health and low body weight , 2. the severity of my osteo. adnd 3. my gender - But to those who would be willing to take meds, there is eventual possible hope for younger people here...

  • I think I know which drug you're talking about. It seems to work in some young people with osteoporosis but there haven't been any clinical trials done with it yet in anorexia nervosa - hence the invitation to your specialists. It's important to consider magnitude of change in bone mineral density (BMD). Most drugs promote only small increases. However, with weight gain, large increases in BMD have been observed in young people (+ other boduly functions improve). Drugs have side effects too..

  • (CONT). There are psych issues here as well. I was inclined to put less effort into recovery when I thought that a drug might work. I was given oestrogens, bisphosphonates, fluoride, calcitriol - and my BMD continued to fall. Ultimately it's up to the person to decide whether to balance the risk with possible benefits from the info they're given. I'm sceptical however, given that the primary cause of bone loss is nutritionally related...

  • Thank you for emphasizing how nutrition is the main factor in helping our bones get better. I do not follow Western medicine and rarely support it, which is why I use whole foods and herbs to heal. The only reason I brought up scientists testing a new drug is for those who do follow Western medicine and are willing to try it and risk the outcome to be negative or positive. Food heals, eat up what you can! I am now!!!

  • True.

Some people with anorexia are already at a healthy weight though and still effected. We need to bring this into factor as well for this discussion. Weight gain though, it all boils down to nutrition. Without food and proper nutrition the weight gain won't come and the nutrients will not be there to help assist, like calcium for example. So when all is said and done - we really need to focus on getting ourselves SOUND nutrition, and those who need to gain need more quantities to restore

  • It's a combination of both nutrient availability (with incorporation into tissues, including bone) and weight per se. The reason why bone metabolism is disturbed in low wt anorexia is because the body's energy stores are depleted; there's not enough tissue. This causes very low levels of hormones such as insulin, IGF-1 and leptin, all of which are anabolic for both bone and muscle. To replace nutrients and v. low wt is important to enable the body to accept wt gain (CONT).

  • Levels of IGF-1 and leptin (which stimulate bone formation) are approx. proportional to BMI. Thus, as wt is gained, bone formation is stimulated. But a whole bone remodelling cycle takes at least 6 months, which is why there's a big time lag between better nutrition, wt gain and bone gain. BMD may still be v. low in wt-recovered ppl, esp. if they developed anorexia before they had completed growth. Anorexia usually starts in teens so ppl may never reach their genetically-determined peak BMD.

  • If a growing individual doesn't achieve normal adult peak BMD because of anorexia then they will have lower than average BMD after anorexia, and BMD may not increase any further, even with good nutrition, exercise or drugs. Many people with a long history of anorexia have low BMD, and those with the lowest BMD after recovery are usually those who started anorexia at a younger age. My bones are bad partly because my anorexia started at age 11, when I should have been growing rapidly.

  • Eeeeek!!! Don't tell me that - my anorexia started as a CHILD, I have been UNDERweight my entire life and was not aware of anorexia till age 12 when we put a problem to a label - when we learned the correct terminology... Okay, I will remain hopeful. I believe in miracles. Thanks for all your help here dear. You emphasize weight gain a lot and I agree for those who need it but regardless no one is going to get that without nutrition/food! I will pray over my BMD to increase as I heal.

  • There's individual variation of course.. My prayers are with you sweetie. I do think you're doing well; not many ppl realise how hard it is when wt is very low and the ED 'voice' is always there. Yes, I do emphasise wt gain because it's necessary for starved & atrophied tissues (heart, bone, muscle, brain) to have an energy excess to re-grow and function normally. Good nutrition is the 1st step, but hard as it is to cope with, slow & steady wt gain through nutritious foods is essential.

  • The video is stopping toward the beginning. I have tried it 3 times and will try again later. I'm guessing it's a problem with Youtube. I will watch you on tv assuming that I'm near a TV at the time, and I have no reason to believe that I won't be. :-)
