White and have lived in Durham since 1994, never a problem. It is one of the fastest growing, lowest employment counties in the state. It gets a bad rap simply because of the demographics.

Er... I spent my childhood in Durham. In the 1960s. Tallest building was the CCB. Now in 2011, it seems the tallest building is the ... CCB building. Where on earth are these skyscrapers that people are "moving on up" to?? And what's this about "the rail"...? The railway was closed down decades ago. Maybe it has been re-opened more recently (?) but I doubt that rail links are to blame for "gentrification"!

if they'd fix up every part in durham and not just certain parts.
Also they should have more stuff for kids to do here.
you really can't understand durham till you ride through the run down areas and live here

@powerfullogic It was the blacks that made it attractive from the start. Whites moved out when fatories were there thinking they would get cancer. Once all of the factories went over sees now they are coming back. Those wars are proxies to take the attention off of what whites are really doing. ETHNICALLY CLEANSING blacks in EVERY MAJOR city!

Thank you. Most of the people in Durham that seem to care about the gentrification going on are really just some sort of pseudo-liberal with their own white middle classs NW Durham neighborhoods being their real concerns.
