  • this show makes caesar look like the good guy, but in reality, he was not

  • @101andrewj that is only youre mind. i read many about caesar. i am sure you NOT

  • @DonnyaLaysen i have too, and he was a tyrant

  • @101andrewj Tyrant, shrymant. He was a great man, regardless.

  • @PersonalityDeficit87 a great man who single handedly destroyed the greatest republic in history

  • @101andrewj More like a great man that single handedly gave birth to the empire and Augustus, arguably the greatest ruler Rome had ever seen.

  • @101andrewj the Republic would have fallen regardless, Caesar managed to preserve Rome for another 300 years, you can hardly attribute the Republic's destruction to Caesar alone, Marius, Sulla, the Gracchi, the First Triumvirate, Pompey, Caesar, Antoney and Augustus, even the Senate and People of Rome itself, the Republic couldnt sustain itself any longer

  • Rome was a complicated mixture of aristocratic landowner republic like the early USA and block voting by all citizens skewed so the rich had most blocks. By this time what worked for a city did not work for an empire and individuals had too long controlled the state for their own ends.

  • Julius Ceasar one of the greatest men to ever live brought to life through this series no matter how brief it was to tell his story

  • Attila xD =))

  • Was Caesar right or wrong to march on Rome? If he played by the rules and returned on his own, he's be dead. Also the Roman Republican was really corrupt. I could see why someone wouldn't have respect for the system.

  • @Scipio2021 Except he never got the premission to invade gual like he did, he got premission to subjugate 1 little tribe on the borders. So he was infact a war criminal. So right or wrong it didn't matter, all he wanted from the start was power in rome.

  • @WarSmurfs You're missing pieces of Roman history. At that time, the true criminals were the elder senators. Like our US gov't now, the democratic legislature had become so corrupt they were literally causing poverty and massive unemployment among the plebian class. The patricians, whom were supposed to keep at heart the well being of Rome, were more concerned with themselves. Yeah, Caesar wanted power BUT he literally saved the Republic from total collapse and Rome was reborn into the Empire.

  • @WarSmurfs Had Caesar not existed, the corrupt democracy would've destroyed the SPQR. Don't hold blind faith in the democratic system, it's great but when it becomes corrupted you have to overhaul the governing class and put in their place ppl with motives to serve and protect the state as a whole not themselves. That is what America needs now. Consider this ; our patricians in DC care nothing for us, they are taking our jobs and putting us into to poverty. This time tho, no Caesar will save us

  • Hail Caesar

  • Titus Pullo is in slaves' garb. Never should have gone out into the Gaulois by himself. He'd still be in uniform had he stayed in formation.

  • "...a speech impediment in real life, caused by cancer of the mouth in his 30s".

Where does this come from??????????? We are you trying to do?

  • Couldn't this just be Rommel or a Soviet general on some obscure border?

  • I am with you Caesar!! CAESAR CAESAR CAESAR!!!!!!!

  • Long Live IVLIVS CAESAR

  • XIII!!!!!!!

  • HAIL CEASAR!THE FUTURE DEAD HAIL YOU!:)

  • @KISSTrooper01 Its Ave Caesar, those who will die salute you. Gladiators had to say that all together before starting combat and in no case does this apply to regular soldiers.

  • @EduardoElSexypants Thank u for correcting me:)

  • The show took several liberties in terms of historical accuracy. Octavian was not in Rome when Caesar was killed nor did Anthony have an affair with Atia (who was apparently a nice lady) and the Atia-Sevilla rivalry never existed.

    But Caesar does rock!!!

  • @DonaldMele It was all for a compelling narrative grestest show besides the Sopranos

  • Comment removed

  • @Pulsar205 sigh, I know that it wasn't with bad intentions but you just spoiled the end for me :(

  • @AlexOfMacedonAOMH oh I'm so sorry, Alex. What a daft thing for me to say. I'd have hated it if someone told me the end of a series.

It's irreparable and I don't know what to say. I'll take down the comment. Only god knows how many others I've upset. I wish someone would have pointed it out sooner.

  • @AlexOfMacedonAOMH All I can say is you'll have to watch because I could be wrong.

  • Hail Caesar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @SlyNicolai Historically Speaking Caesarion was killed...And in fact was Caesar's son...

  • great show. there will never be another one like it. not with this economy lol

  • Sucks that this series didnt get a 3rd season.

  • I think they want to make a movie out of the "3rd season", don't they?

  • Not as far as I know.

I would bet its dead and buried. However you can watch "Spartacus blood and sand" (TV) now. Its not as political as Rome, but it has more action. Its like a mix between Gladiator and 300 the movies... A little stupid, but still fun to watch.

  • that was weird becasue I beleive in reality titus pullo switched sides, and later fought under Pompey, like caesar's fomer deputy Titus Labienus.

  • @TheRomangods

no one knows what titus pullo did in reality. They were only mentioned once in ceasars "de bello gallico". But thats it.

  • i love this speech I mentally say this speech occasionally.

  • Ciaran Hinds, the actor who plays Caesar, has a speech impediment in real life, caused by cancer of the mouth in his 30s. He thought he would never be able to get a part again but he got a break from an understanding director and now the way he talks is part of his persona. You can hear the impediment of his tongue in this speech scene, which seems ironically effective for Caesar who was some kind of epileptic. His charismatic acting putting across authority is what really carries it though.

  • @jegspillerpiano I have found no proof of this claim. His filmography shows he words straight through his career when he was in his thirties. All biographies I have read about him features absolutely no mention of a courageous fight with cancer. I demand proof, lest I call you a bald-faced liar.

  • @jegspillerpiano Omg, really??!! I didn't know that!! And he is the perfect actor, for this role! He is so aristocratic!! Somewhere I read that he is Irish, is that true?

  • julius along with octavian are representing the roman golden era,

  • one of the greatest speeches ever! imo

whoever wrote it for the series has real writing talent.

  • @spartandroog Same guy who wrote the dialogs for Game Of Thrones

  • Se me hace mazo de raro oír a los romanos hablar una lengua germánica. Les pega más hablar en Italiano o español, que son lenguas latinas... En Francés tampoco se les iria mucho la pinza...

  • There's a bit of humor involved in this scene that you will totally miss if you haven't seen the series entire.

Ceasar is raising hell because the Pompeians have supposedly committed a sacrilege by attacking the Tribune Anthony who was on his way to the Forum to exercise his veto powers.

Ceasar mentions that Pullo drew first blood in defense of Anthony. He drew first blood alright. He's the one who started fight. It's Pullo's fault Anthony never got to the forum in the first place.

  • Yes there was "How Titus Pulllo destroyed the Republic" episode.

  • I love it. He uses pullo so well here. Even though he jut heard his name a minute ago hahahah. Ceaser is awesome.

  • Brilliant

  • I love this series!
