At Ralph Hilfner's Gentle Jungle in the late 70s. He got closed down a few years after several tiger maulings and injuries to kids. I also had a cougar encounter. After exercising a cougar on a leash for about an hour, we went into the elephant barn to let him rest.
After 15 min he jumped up and we went out. A sudden gust of wind blew dirt in his face and he went berserk. My immediate reaction was to fall on top & pin him down. He was snarling, hissing, growling--out for blood. A trainer, Dave McMillan, came running and jumped on top of me to keep him down. Slowly Dave climbed off and told me to hold his collar as tight against his neck as possible while he pushed and kicked to get him to move.
The cat was totally enraged. I don't blame him but we had to do what we had to do to get him back to his compound about a quarter of a mile away. It took the better part of an hour. Somehow neither of us was scratched or bitten. Talk about a rush.
I love bears, and watching bear wrestling matches. I wouldn't personally wrestle a bear, but I think it should be fully allowed. It is illegal in some states...
The bear was probably trained to not doing anything to excessive. The bear can kill him in less than 5 seconds with no effort. Unfortunely, the bear did not do this.

My Dad Wrestled Victor the Bear back in 1964 (or so) I don't know if there was 1 Victor or many of them. This Victor was at a used car lot, and you would pay $1 to Wrestle him, if you could pin him you won a car of your choice. Of course no one could pin him and even though my Dad was a huge man Victor just rolled him around the ring like a keg of beer. For one, this doesn't even constitute abuse, as the bear probably just thinks it's playing (which, in a way, it really is). two, MANY MANY countries have pastimes that involve animals. In Spain they kill bulls for entertainment. In Russia they also wrestle bears and many countries (including Russia) still club seals. Every country is different, get some fucking perspective.
