@SunriseInTheMidwest you, my dear friend have a lot to learn. that 'dangourous stuff' is what you need to modify or tweet to get any real performance, because not every computer or network or even personal preferences are the same between people. I'll take my PC at half cost (of the equivilant mac), customise it to my wants and needs not what Apple thinks i need or want, and have an IQ over the national average (if you can google, you can fix any problem that could occur)
Ill just add my bit, this is the "same" PC I bought 12 years ago, of yes there have been upgrades bit by bit and theres very little of the original build in it, but its been a hell of a lot cheaper than a whole new machine every year and a half, and its constantly a very fast hi spec machine
Out of all the operating systems Ive used, there was only one I disliked, the MAC ones,and my favourite goes to the Linux series
but I want something not too techy or too constrained, so Im for Windows
@j800r on the grounds that mac users continually shift what they think PCs are good for- they used to say that "fun stuff" was done on macs, and work on PCs, and now they are saying that PCs are only good for gaming. truth is, we can do both, and your mac can only do video editing, which my PC can do as well. also,you are still running the core of a 10 year old OS... the OSX kernel.... Windows 7 has a new kernel made from the ground up for vista (which is why vista was unstable)ran out of chars
@MASTURCHEEF001 well i'm not like the average fanboy you'll come across. i used Windows PCs for most of my life and respect them for what they are, but I also know since switching to Mac in August, my computing experience has been a hell of a lot better. Regardless of what you'd like to think, Snow Leopard is a far superior Operating System. However, I'm not looking forward to Lion as they seem to be taking it a step too far. A Mac is good for everything, including casual gaming.
@j800r i hated mac osx when i had to use it- with windows, i can always find the file i just deleted in the cache files if i want it back, and with a mac, i have a hard time finding/doing anything after it is deleted. plus, when i say gaming, i mean like Crysis and other games like that (on max settings). also, mac osx is easier to hack than windows
google it, in a hacking competition, macs were more vulnerable
a) That's what Time Machine's for. A file is easy as hell to recover.
b) That's just showing off. The average consumer ain't gonna want or need to run Crysis on max settings. If I wanna game, I use my consoles, and for PC exclusives my iMac is more than capable.
c) Your point? Windows is more at risk from viruses atm. Big deal. If you ain't stupid you're perfectly safe.
pc isnt all pain and frustration if you know what your doing you wont have problems. plus pc start to wear out when the get old unless its a netbook with xp.... =P
