I'm not usually pro-rebooting franches, but I'd be totally up for a reboot of Slayers. As long as they kept the characters with the same personalities I think it could really work.

Why so much haters here? Slayers NEXT was the best , fine ,everyone knows that. But Slayers Evolution-R was fantastic, bringing it back old characters like Rezo and Nama, and it's ending was the best in the series(my opinion). So in this days were 90% of the anime market is focussed in stupid MOE ecchi animes, people should stop complaining about a great anime like Slayers and thank god there is still some good anime this days.
Modern, souless nu-anime artwork trying to capture the beauty of proper hand-drawn non-digital Slayers, and proving that they just can't draw in the cool old-school styles any more. This Lina's face looks totally wrong, and everything looks just "off". It makes me miss Slayers NEXT a great deal, as that looked fantastic.

Thanks for the upload! I like this opening! All of Lina's previous enemies she defeated are still somewhat haunting her after thier death. Seeing Valgaav made me totally miss him, *cries* I love him...
out of all the boss villains Lina has faced, Phibrizzo was definitely the worst. Yup, a lot worse than Rezo, though the Red Priest is still more interesting character.
I can't wait till these episodes finally show up on my doorstep...I'm going to be so thrilled. I have to say though...kinda disappointed with new animation. I'm a fan of the older style they used to use. But it still looks good.

Is this an old symbolic haunt Lina thing, or are they revived, or is their just some sort of a connection between them and the current plot, etc., etc.? Someone please explain for me.
@TwilightDemon87 I think it was just a reminder of what she could be up against, after facing Phabrizzo, Gaav, and Valgaav. All three of them almost killed her, not to mention they were either Dark Lords, or combined their power with a Dark Lord. Like Valgaav did with Dark Star.
If you remember it mentioned by Konzel, Lina Inverse is wanted by the monster race. So, then that would mean she has two more Dark Lords after her. Death Fog, and Deep Blue. As mentioned by Xellos in NEXT.
Xellos is under orders by another mazoku, therefore he was told not to kill her just yet. But eventually. If she doesn't fufill the Mazoku's wishes.
Lina knows Xellos is using her for his alterior motives, so in turn she beats up on him and makes him pull some weight. That was mentioned in TRY, I believe. When Filia discovers the truth about Xellos,
they were the three villains that Lina had the most trouble with. all their appearence is saying is that this season is going to be trouble for Lina Inverse and the rest of the Slayers.
yep that is true although this is set after TRY. Although I would not say they took stories directly from novels 5-6 I'd say they used them as a basis to create this series.
I loved this new season but i felt it had too much talking...like they were trying to fill in all the stuff that happened previously so that those who have not watched Slayers before could understand whats going on. Hoping we get a new season with volumes 9-15!! That be EPIC!!
Last time I was up to date with Slayers, there were 3 seasons ending with Try, a movie and a slew of OAV's. Now I see this Evolution R and Revolution. Can someone catch me up on what's going on here? Are these 2 both newer seasons of Slayers? And are they ever gonna leave Japan? I hear Funimation currently has the distribution rights to them but I'm not sure what they are yet.
These two season basically continue from where Try left us. Funimation should have first DVD's out by next year or something with the original cast used in the dubbed version except Xellos.
Original cast? I assume you mean the cast from the first three seasons. I'd personally like to see ADV's movie cast do these seasons, I always like ADV's actors a lot better in the roles.
i like them all i think the first one was good in some aspects and the others in others reasons 2nd season on were serious i like that but i wish they would do more like the begging of the first season and i like the first season because its more silly
I liked the dub a lot more, never really watched the Japanese version, though. But I really did like the firsts ones a bit better at times, because it keeps the really care free setting until the end etc. But the graphics and quality in the newer ones are excellent!! What are the new ones like? I haven't been able to see the most recent ones. When I first heard they were still making it, I first thought, 'OMG, you're not serious...' The new creature is called Pokota, and is a person who's soul was transfered into a stuffed animal. I was a bit weary about him at first, so I can understand the apprehension, but he's really not that bad.
Actually Revolution and Evolution-R are adapting unused stories from the novels unlike TRY which was new. I'm just going off the flashes they're showing and I think this series may be an adaptation of the Demon King of the North arc somewhat just as the last arc covered The Silver Beast novel (5 or 6?)

Yes, but those are _different characters_. Not the same ones, not the same ones in different universes. These are the same characters as they were in TRY, just a year later. The style is fine, and if it isn't to your preference, that's up to you. But don't call it crappy, don't say it sucks, because it doesn't.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: If Funimation managed to rally 98% of the original Tenchi Muyo english cast for the third OVA series, they can easily do the same for Slayers. So, your hope may be much bigger than you realize.^_~V
Good point, I just hope all those voices are still in the industry. If Lina and Zelgadis are the same, I'll be happy. Gourry doesn't have that many lines and Amelia... eh. Not really worried about her either.
Actually it was more like 25% as after Tenchi Universe & 2 Prett Sammy videos they got a new Mihoshi, a new Kiyone, a new Yosho and a new Noboyuki. So, for the new series they recruited those replacements, plus a new Ryoko 7 a new voice for Tokimi and her assistant D3. Basically only 5 voices (Tenchi, Ayeka, Washu Sasami & Tsunami) are the same as in the original series 2 of those being done by the same person.
Well, I was generally talking about how they managed to arrange for most of Geneon cast selections for Tenchi Muyo's third OAV(both original and contemporary), not the "literal" original english cast that they started out with.
Well to put it into perspective, they pretty much got the cast of Tenchi in Tokyo. Tenchi was one of my first and favorite anime series, but back in the VHS days it was English only. So when the Tokyo series came out I was disappointed that they changed many of my favorite voices whom I kind of grew up with for so many years. I guess you can't really win when it's English dub, but now they've changed the Japanese cast as well for the new Sasami series so I'm throwing in the towel lol.
But that's the Tenchi Muyo cast, which is kinda digressing from the initial topic(besides, . Besides, Funimation's already hired most of the Slayers(Lisa Ortiz) cast in their previous anime and they've announced a few months ago that they managed to contact the original cast for reprisal for Slayers Revolution and Evolution-R. So, I see any further need the point to the pessimism or anxiety. It'll be interesting to see how well they perform after all these years.
I would too. It looks like the writers think all new characters need some type of gimmick before they can join the main party. Look at Pokota, and now Naga.

Maybe i must see the season before, but i think that his aesthetics didn't fit on the serie.
In the ending Lina remember me Ash with Pikachu in his head!!, and that worries me...

The new creature is called Pokota, and is a person who's soul was transfered into a stuffed animal. I was a bit weary about him at first, so I can understand the apprehension, but he's really not that bad.

Actually Revolution and Evolution-R are adapting unused stories from the novels unlike TRY which was new. I'm just going off the flashes they're showing and I think this series may be an adaptation of the Demon King of the North arc somewhat just as the last arc covered The Silver Beast novel (5 or 6?)

Yes, but those are _different characters_. Not the same ones, not the same ones in different universes. These are the same characters as they were in TRY, just a year later. The style is fine, and if it isn't to your preference, that's up to you. But don't call it crappy, don't say it sucks, because it doesn't.

Slayers Evolution OP looks much better than Slayers Revolution.
It somehow gives the feeling that the story is getting a darker theme for this season.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: If Funimation managed to rally 98% of the original Tenchi Muyo english cast for the third OVA series, they can easily do the same for Slayers. So, your hope may be much bigger than you realize.^_~V

Good point, I just hope all those voices are still in the industry. If Lina and Zelgadis are the same, I'll be happy. Gourry doesn't have that many lines and Amelia... eh. Not really worried about her either.

Actually it was more like 25% as after Tenchi Universe & 2 Prett Sammy videos they got a new Mihoshi, a new Kiyone, a new Yosho and a new Noboyuki. So, for the new series they recruited those replacements, plus a new Ryoko 7 a new voice for Tokimi and her assistant D3. Basically only 5 voices (Tenchi, Ayeka, Washu Sasami & Tsunami) are the same as in the original series 2 of those being done by the same person.

Well, I was generally talking about how they managed to arrange for most of Geneon cast selections for Tenchi Muyo's third OAV(both original and contemporary), not the "literal" original english cast that they started out with.

Well to put it into perspective, they pretty much got the cast of Tenchi in Tokyo. Tenchi was one of my first and favorite anime series, but back in the VHS days it was English only. So when the Tokyo series came out I was disappointed that they changed many of my favorite voices whom I kind of grew up with for so many years. I guess you can't really win when it's English dub, but now they've changed the Japanese cast as well for the new Sasami series so I'm throwing in the towel lol.

But that's the Tenchi Muyo cast, which is kinda digressing from the initial topic(besides, . Besides, Funimation's already hired most of the Slayers(Lisa Ortiz) cast in their previous anime and they've announced a few months ago that they managed to contact the original cast for reprisal for Slayers Revolution and Evolution-R. So, I see any further need the point to the pessimism or anxiety. It'll be interesting to see how well they perform after all these years.

Haha aww no one likes the plushie toy! Honestly, for some reason I don't really like or dislike Pokota in his plushie form, but I thought he was a beautiful child when he was human! Very ethereal. I hope we get to see him return to his human form!
