  • Haters gone hate, right..I love this idea girl!

  • @jmnthe3rd That is why its called low carb. Lettuce doenst haev any carbs to write home about.

  • This video should be called "Tacos Without Shells." There is nothing no-carb about them. Garlic powder, onions, cheese, taco seasoning, salsa & even lettuce all have carbs. They're just tacos the way anybody would usually make them but without shells. Am I missing something?

  • Well, the onion would not be my concern here. If you turn that packet of taco seasoning over and read the carbs it may surprise you. I have found that using only a tablespoon of packet for a pound of meat works really well. Good Luck! And great video!

  • Thank you for the wonderful idea!! I will be making this tomorrow using ground turkey.

  • will be making me some

  • What a great recipe! Thanks!!

  • I adjusted this recipe and added portabello mushrooms to make the meat stretch and to get more veggies in my diet. In stead of putting it in the lettuce leaf, I made a salad and put the mixture on top of the lettuce. Instead of tortilla strips, I added shredded carrots. I also used low sodium taco pack (1-1/2 packs). I don't miss the carbs from the shells!

  • Love you video, I will try it myself :)

  • a taco w/o a taco shell?? "A" for effort.....Y for yuk

  • @clariceave and you get a "C" for close minded lol...see what I did there, huh? LOL...try it....a taco SHELL doesn't make the taco...it's the seasoning and the meat (for us meat eaters). It really doesn't tastes different than an actual taco. If you think this is a "yuck", you must not like salad either, huh? smh...eh..oh well.

  • @clariceave lol yes this needs a shell. It should not be called 'taco'. However there are low carb flat breads and pitas that can be used to roll up the meat. Try them

  • What a great idea. I started the no card diet 4 days ago and im seeing resukts already. Im getting sick of string cheese chicken and brocoli so this recipe i WILL try out today lol.

  • @oni6903 check out my spaghetti squash video too. So good!

  • Looks absolutely delicious! This method will allow me to make tacos again for my family while avoiding those taco shells! Thank you!

  • On my ketogenic no carb diet I tried for 2 weeks adding half an onion to my meals, and I only lost 3 pounds of fat mass instead of 10, so i'm scared to use onions in my no carb meals lol, the carbs are relatively low but the starch is scary

  • @TheBestGuitarSoloEVR Actually, you lost less weight because in that first 2 weeks you lost a LOT of water weight. Unless you're morbidly obese, you can only lose realistically 1 pound of fat a week. So most of that weight loss for you was water, and then your body adjusts and starts only showing the fat loss. Oniion isn't your enemy =]

  • @assasinette i was morbidly obese with a bmi of 41 but i had 220 pounds of muscle mass so my metabolic rate was crazy high, i was losing 9-11 pounds of fat every two weeks

  • Liked your recipe presentation. I have used Butter Lettuce as a wrap before but never tried Romaine. One thought came to mind while watching you assemble everyting ... If you shave off some stalk & turn around one leaf (to have opposing "ends") it would add handling stability while eating the whole thing. Will try your recipe!

PS: Where I live, we have PSA's about NOT pouring grease down the drain ... Grease clogs public sanitation systems and results in overflow drainage during rain storms.

  • i was on a no carb diet that was supervised weekly by a doctor, and onions were not on the restricted list! thats because the amount of carbs in an onion are soooo insignificant that they would not affect the progress of ur no carb diet. Trust me I lost 55 pounds and I ate onions ALL the time on my diet! Vegetables like corn, peas and carrots, on the other hand, can affect the diet and were restricted.

  • These look GOOD! Thanks for the recipe ideas.

  • Great idea. I was going to try to make it using cauliflower cooked and spread flat and baked crispy. But I like this idea. Must faster to make. Yuumy great job.

  • @Carolearad mmm the cauliflower sound deelish too!

  • great idea!! i made it last night ,as limit my dinners to fish/meat and veggies/salad... (less carbs as possible) my dinners get very reppetive and boring, now i can have a taco night :D thankyouu :) xo

  • that is a great idea thanks!

  • Man, everyone commenting on this seems to be a real asshole.

I liked it, I thought it was a great recipe. I'm off to try it right now.

    Thanks!

    :)

  • @IEATF0RKS Thanks so much! I hope ya like it!

  • How the Hell is this no carb? This video is very misleading for people new to the low carb eating There are carbs in onions and quite a bit in taco seasoning! The only thing thats low carb is the fact your not putting this on a taco shell

  • @heavenandhallo ugh...I wish some of the people in my videos would not be so quick to be assholes.....When people cut down on carbs, it is typically the breads and pastas (non whole wheat). That is what is meant by no or low carb. Relax it's just a video. You just go ahead and focus on the weak vid on your page. Go sit your hype ass down some where.

  • @SheSingsLovely it is true tho...onion has carbs , one is too much,,, as well as the seasoning way too much....you should name it low carb not no carb....

  • @Markofitch they have carbs but it's very little, not enough to affect someone on a low/no carb diet.

  • Thank you!

  • you made me giggle you dont like tamotoes but you like salsa lol your so cute =) love the video

  • @Military21Wife ...and weird lol

  • you would save even more carbs by making your own taco mix without those fillers and flour that are in that prepackage. You can use a drop of xanthan gum for the thickener.

  • you are adorable! already knew about these but very cute and well done :)

  • lol why not just have the carbs? It's OK. IT'S calories in calories out not carbs! enjoy people!

  • never said NOT to have carbs....but some people try to cut back because simple carbs when working on weight lose. Simple carbs break down into sugar and digest too quickly. That's not a great thing. So many will try to cut *back* on it (not cut it OUT). Hope this answers your question.

  • @FromDreamz2Reality As crazy as it sounds, cutting carbs :

    1. cuts calories most really carby stuff is calorie dense without a lot of nutrients to offer- you get more "bang " for your caloric buck by switching cauliflower for rice or broccoli instead of pasta

    2. cuts hunger. refined carbs wake up this weird hunger in me that i'd rather not have to deal with less hunger= less calories!

  • lol more of a wrap than a taco..its a taco wrap lol

  • which ever....it is what it is (not too concerned about the title)....just eat it lol

  • Good idea you can also do that with hotdogs and hambergers.

  • This was a great idea, thanks for sharing! Motivates me to get in the kitchen and cook!

  • And i thought all lettuce lacked nutritional value, not just iceberg (??)...

  • nope...iceberg is the only one that has no nutritional value to it. So that's the one, you don't really want to buy if you want some benefits.

  • What kind of cook ware do u use I love yours. And I feel the need to go shopping......lol also gonna try this idea.

  • This is a Paula Deen cookware. I love this set!

  • Hello!

I usually do my hamburguers that way and I have never thought about doing it with tacos!!!

    That is just so great!!

    Thanks!

  • very smart. no more taco shells for me. thanks

  • girl i had to come back and tell you i made this meal and at first my husband was looking at me like i had 3 heads when i brought him his food but i told him just try it and girl he loved it!!! he ate 3 of them:) LOL so thank you so much for the video!!!!!

  • great!!! I'm so glad he enjoyed!!

  • when I was lifting I was on a low carb regiment and I pretty much ate this 3-5 times per week.

I would suggest using ground turkey and insted of using water i used a can of salsa and just let it sit a bit longer to let the season run through...

and trade El paso taco mix for El paso CHILLI mix and...

viola turkey that tastes like beef!

Lower oils , no carb , high protien (17g) and easy to make =)

ladies make this for ANY MAN when on a 2nd or 3rd date and you gain massive coolpoints.

  • Thanks for the tips....I'll give it a try next time :-)

  • This looks delicious! I just did this for my dinner but instead of ground beef I used Ground Turkey.

  • Im gonna make this tonight with ground turkey as well

  • Again! I have to try this one too! Excellent videos! Keep 'em coming!

  • I never thought of taco wraps. That is a great alternative.

  • yeah..cool vid. i have been making this for years.. just like the applebees lettuce wraps.. but they use ckn,,

  • oh I didn't know they did this. I haven't been to applebees in so long. I should sue them for stealing my idea huh? lol jk

  • Ugh!!! That looks sooo good!! You always come up with creative ways to serve dinner! lol! Great vid =]

  • This looks great! I'd use ground chicken or turkey only because i don't eat red meat. I will have to try this! I am trying hard not to eat a bunch of carbs. Thanks for posting this :)

  • let me know how it turns out! You'll need to eat extra though, since you're eating for 2 now lol :-)

  • Oh my goodness this look so yummy, you know i am going to do try this tomorrow, mainly with it being low carb thats a good thing. I love your cooking tutorials!!!

  • great! Let me know how it turns out for you!

  • i know this is totally off topic but you nails always look so nice!!!:) also love the cooking videos you have given me alot of great ideas!!! thanks!!!

  • That looked delish!!! Another tip would be to use the romaine lettuce and not iceberg lettuce!!! The iceberg lettuce has no Nutrituional Value!! I'm going to try this. I had chicken quesadillas on whole grain tortillas!!!

  • oh yes...i stopped using iceberg a looooooong time ago

  • ooooh What nail polish is that!? Beautiful color, compliments your tone.

  • SSL ... snaps, you are doing too much!!!!!!! LOL This beats my veggie burger on lettuce, can't wait to make this recipe. Thanks for sharing!!!!!!!
