  • Watching these navy guys trying to figth a fire, god help us,3 or 4 young sailors, and some warrant officer standing there shouting orders,,total balls up...the wholetime firefirghters at ym local station turned out to the same fire as the navy did,,simply because when the navy turned up ,they were crap,,and the fire station, thankfuly ,was only 5 minutes round the corner.the wholetime crew jumped off their seats dropped their placards and turned out 2 pumps.

  • Research the real purpose of the Goddesses. But they came into there own during the firemans strike.I was onboard Royal Navy .Glad to assist London. If shit happens there are enough pumps to get water from Manchester to London.Don't decry your reserves.John. RNl

  • i remember the green goddesses at fareham ,based at hms collingwood during the 2004 (i think ) strikes, Jesus ,i lobe our british armed services, but the navy guys should stick to driving ships and boats, warrant officers at the scene of an incident barking order instead of getting their hands dirty,,Thank god for the retained crews

  • Apart from everyone being tools when commenting. Did you see or have you ever been there before? The angle on which a car drives in and out is a nightmare, nevermind an appliance! And going slow is better than taking someones life by blitzing out into a main road. :/

  • top guys for covering even tho they appear new / nervous to it all

  • took em long enough to turn out ..they should of tried starting the dennis before putting the two tones on ..scabs...

  • @wausau47 We'll expect you in Portsmouth Harbour on monday to take out HMS Dauntless shall we? Let's see how long it takes you to get her out not being familiar with a vehicle. Idiot.

  • I agree that the 2tones need to be brought back in, theyre really effective for city streets/busy areas, much more effective than most american sirens!

  • theres nothing wrong with the 2 tone there great

  • The two tones klaxons are better than some modern sirens, we have the modern two tones and some of them are rubbish as most car drivers cannot hear them.

  • So many people commenting on the age of the truck, let it alone, if I needed the help, I wouldn't care if the truck was built in the 60's so long as it worked!

Ok yea, maybe slightly faster would help but who cares, if it saves my life, I don't mind waiting a little longer

  • Such a dreadful old siren those two tones are! A little unorganized out of the start there too. That pumper should have been retired in the early 70's!

  • The truck wasnt built till the mid 80's so they would struggle to put it into retirement in the 70's

  • @407pilot Ask any brit and they'll say these two tones should go back on all our fire engines.

  • @DoTheShuffaloShake Really? I'm actually kind of surprised at that. I guess growing up in North America, we are used to the electronic wail, yelp, warbles, etc... For a really funky siren we have, bring up the youtube video "Running with #8 Aerial (1/3)" and listen at 0:52 and again at 1:38. Now that moves traffic!

  • @407pilot Nah, we all realise we need our sirens to be all americanish, but we still think the two tone is just as effective for our big'uns. On a police car it's be shit and on an ambulance it'd deafen the crew.

  • @DoTheShuffaloShake not only brits im from new zealand and love the old 2 tones i wish they would use them over here

  • West Sussex Dennis DS.

  • Use the two tones when moving, not while stationary !!

What on earth was the driver thinking about ??

  • i`m sure you are meant to use the two tones when your moving, not turn them as you start.lol

  • thank god we have retained firefighters in our town...thay didnt go on strike... and if the truth is known, retained have my full respect.. thay dont go home and forget about it after a days shift.. on call 24/7...and response time of 4 mins...

  • same as is in south australia im on call 24/7 and respone time of 4 mins we are called CFS (country fire service) and we are all voulenteer's

  • The below comment is from a complete retard! Who knows fuck all about the fire service, Read into the reasons behind the strike before you comment!!!!!!!! Firefighters were not being greedy at all we wanted fair money for doing a highley skilled job!

  • Thank you that man.

Unfortunatley the average Sun reading ignorant citizen has no idea what the disputes were about and how the government aimed, and still is aiming, to downgrade, reduce and run the service as a business. Ultimatley THAT will cost lives. I have seen the calculations they use to decide how many lives can be lost in a year as an acceptable FINANCIAL decision.

  • More reliable?

hmm... The UK Fire Service is repeatedly held up as one of the highest performing services in teh country. By the Audit Commission.

The MOD is repeatedly slated for waste, inefficiency and internal corruption. Bu the Audit Commission.

So let's look at your statement again shall we?

  • Most of the corruption is by civil servants though, eh? And most of the wastage is due to government overspends, top heavy bureaucracy and bumbling account management over at whitehall. It has nothing to do with rank and file servicemen and senior officers who would rather have more of a say in how the services are managed and where the money is spent.

Obviously one does not need to read the Sun to be ignorant.

  • Navy firefighters.. otherwise known as scabs.

  • You clearly have no knowledge of modern fire appliances. They're simply not comparable with the green godess.

  • My local village hall burnt down during the fire strikes and they sent out two of those green goddesses but they were pretty useless as it was a huge fire.

  • the green goddesses pump 1000 gpm the pumps theres days are lucky if they pump 800 gpm

  • Volume of water has little relevace to extinguishing a fire. It's how it is used is the deciding factor. Bedfords had large volume pumps so they could transfer water over long distances in event of war. Modern pumps use lower volume/ higher pressure pumps for modern fire fighting techniques.

  • why so slow blue ligth on the Ford 4x4? :S

  • They aren't that slow in real-life. They are blue strobe lights and they are on a triple-flash pattern and the camera misses most of these because they are so quick. The camera only picks up a blue light every seconds or so.

  • It's the camera unable to catch all the flashes.

  • isnt that a Dennis RS?

  • No its actually a Dennis DS.

  • Nice.

What was this type of vehicle for?

  • It was a local authority appliance used by the armed forces during the fire strikes

  • Liked the Sirens!

  • How slow??????????

  • Why with the siren so early and then nothing as you leave the compound? Nice EFAD!

  • Brilliant Video, really shows the difference in sirens, well done again

  • Nah sorry mate just the DS

  • do you have any of the ggs turning out
