Wow! The only downside though would be the amount of space SSD's offer now. I have the 15" macbook pro with 320 GB...According to Tiger Direct a 256SSD is $1000!!
i wonder if this can be done on the non-unibody macbook pros. i have a early 2008 edition macbook pro 15 inch and am wondering if its worth the investment to switch to an ssd
Depending on the kind of SSD it will be faster. Also as for now the more expensive the better. He got a mid range drive that gets above average speeds. still a big difference.
Seeing the new macbook pros boot up mac os X with a SSD in 31 seconds makes me wonder...
My macbook pro boots up a clean install of Leopard in 29 seconds!!!!!
(2,6ghz c2d, 200gb 7200 rpm - 10ms HDD [orig installed by apple] 4gb ram and of course 512mb geforce 8600mgt - on which I play GTA 4 on 1200*800 fluently)
HOW IS YOUR BATTERY LIFETIME???
My great HDD kills my macbook pro after 3,5 - max. 4 hours!
I have a little question...I plan to buy a 13" MacBookPro and I also want to use 2 external screens. I only wonder if the graphics card is strong enough. Does everythink run still well when you switch to the weaker graphics card (I think it is the NVIDIA GeForce 9400M) in your MBP?

my custom rig does everything that your ishit does. you're an apple fan boy, and putting an ssd into a mac is a waste of time and money. be a real man and build a proper rig like the guys from samsung SSD awesomeness video.
I am playing GTA IV on my 1 1/2 year old Macbook pro with a resolution of 1200*800 and this FLUENTLY (speaking of 26 fps). On windows 7 RC.
P.s. I'm not an idiot that spends all his money on Apple products - Well I'm an idiot that got his Macbook pro (which was worth 2800 dollars) for 1600 dollars in HONG KONG - heaven on earth: that's as far as I know the place where you get the CHEAPEST BRAND NEW Apple products on earth!! (p.s. Yes, it was an authorized apple store!!)
I have owned pc laptop computers for ever, I know everything there is to know about pc computers. im thinking of switching to mac, What do you think? or anyone think
I would say go for it man! I to use to be a long time windows user and lover until I made the switch over 1 year ago. The machines are truly unbelievable... They are very intuitive and it just works flawlessly because the OS was made for the hardware...
It is quite simple... You install the SSD then plug in your time machine drive, it will then ask you if you would like to restore from time machine and you click yes. Your Computer is back to the way you last left it.
When you insert the Leopard install disk and boot off of it you will be presented with a semi-Mac OS X desktop. In the menu bar, select Utilities and then "Restore System from Backup..." Select your backup drive, the date you want to backup from, and then click restore. this is from TUAW website. if you need more explanation you can also google it.
can i install in my pro 15 in mid 2009? email me at zenpark@me.com

Do you think that future Macbooks and iMacs will be built with the SSD?
CarlyUTube 2 years ago
Of course when the technology becomes cheaper they will become standard.... You can already purchase one with a SSD as an option...
