  • The best choreography ever.

  • Daaaamn! Listen to that falsetto!

  • I was living in New York in the same apartment building as 3 members of the band did. We use to party in my apartment because we had a baby grand piano in the living room. Shanana is a Icon from the 60's. Remember Woodstock!!!!! I love to watch all the film clips over and over again. This is Cadillac Man. Keep it rockin !!!

  • This is the first time I totally understood the words. For about a million years I thought the second line was "Please, please, please, please tell your daddy you're gonna!" Yikes!

  • Santini is a ladykiller. Johnny might have the better voice, but Scott rocks!.

  • Probably the most talented musicians in the business -- and the best educated. Bowser is a Julliard graduate.

  • @geoffdoor..jealous????????????????

  • @geoffdoor what a waste of writing space, YOU may not have much taste for decent and proper music, where u can actually hear the words, which are sung, not rapcrapped, but please have the respect to keep ur sordid comments to urself and not desecrate the valid and valued opinions of others. We love Shana na and if u dont, fine, so dont watch!!!!!!

  • I loved these guys back in the day. They came on right before the muppet show.

  • Santini is now an orthopedic surgeon in Beverly Hills. And Denny is a law professor. Pretty cool

  • @rollo131 Scott Powell has offices in Burbank and Santa Monica. He may have been in Beverly Hills, but certainly is not there now.

  • Great to watch and see. Top marks. Good Entertainment, Fantastic voices. Just wish i'd been around at the time. Thanks to Youtube and the uploader.

  • Oh man,

those guys could have given Frankie Valle and the 4 Seasons a run for their money.

  • miming, but thehy still great to watch ,i grew up watchin them

  • wow.....what fantastic vocals...love Sha Na Na

  • Sal's famous pizzeria!

  • Trained in Baltimore w/ Scottie. Great dude. Drank some beer and ate a lot if Sabitino's Pizza.

  • Classic!!

  • I wonder how they picked who did which songs with a group this large...

  • Pretty cool seeing Jocko in there besides just playing the drums.

  • Johnny looks just like Billy Crystal...LOL

  • @yunome16942 Maybe Billy Cristal's son?? Ha. I agreed with you.

  • I'm English and have only just found these guys. Think they're teriffic. Music from my era, so I obviously really enjoy it We had a couple of similar groups, but these guys are good. Thanks. MM.

  • Santini Powell has the greatest voice ever

  • Yes! I'll stay with you Santini <3.

I'm 19 years old, and I would KILL to see Sha Na Na. I grew up with them in our house on vinyls. My friends think I'm completely insane.

  • @melanie8771 you just have excellent taste in music that's not insanity lol

  • @melanie8771 I'm 32 and I LOVE Shanana! My friends also think im nuts, but I dont care, we just have great taste ;) And yes, Santini = <3

  • I remember when I first saw this on TV. Yeah, is it wrong to admit that I still get that "If that's where 'boy cooties' from, I think I want to catch a few!" feeling when I see Santini belt this one out? I love these guys! I like the current line-up as well, although only Screamin' Scott, Jocko, and Donny are still in (my heart-throb, Chico, passed in 1998! :(), but it will always be the ten guys I grew up hearing that do it for me!

  • @Shiftkitty If it's wrong to feel that way Shift, I'm going to hell right along with you!!

  • Holy bajoley! He hits the notes on this!

  • Que bonita musica y las voces ni que decir...fantastico...gracias por bajar esta musica inolvidable!!!

  • @Oilblood87 It's perfect!

  • I wish they would have Johnny Contardo be the "mentor" on American Idol for many reasons. (1) To show the youth what REAL singing is, (2) to remind America of Sha Na Na and (3) What better person to mentor young singers?

  • @sshelget Seriously, most of the Idol 'hopefuls' are not very good. They start out promising, but as soon as they leve their comfort zone... yikes. Not to mention almost every performer today sounds exactly the same... too breathy or too shouty... (for lack of technical terms.)

  • @cevc918 - I totally agree with you. I haven't heard an "original" sounding voice for over a decade. Everybody sounds the same! You described it perfectly: "too breathy or shouty" - in addition, all those annoying "runs" (where they hold a note forever and go up and down with their voice).

  • @sshelget That is brilliant !!!! Johnny who has one of the best voices of my lifetime would be a wonderful mentor. He gives voice lessons so he would be able to help the contestants bring about a better performance. No one delivers a song quite like Johnny so he could also help them on technique and stage presence. Great suggestion.

  • great band

  • Hey MzJuicy Froot: " He's... Johnny Contardo!!"

  • johnny contardo

  • Santini Is So Cute!!!!!!!!!

  • Yeah, you should hear my version

  • The guy in the red shirt, looks like a cross between Billy Crystal and John Leghusiamo. (Can't spell his last name)

    :-O

  • i was just thinking the same exact thing. This guy can sing anything they sang if not better

  • @MzJuicyFroot

Yes, thru the years people have said that about Johnny Contardo and Billy Crystal.

Billy Crystal was once a guest on SNN.

  • I guess most of us are pathetic too!!

  • Oh - I guess my children and I are pathetic?!?!?!? Good to know...

I thought we were just having some harmless fun... I know I do...

  • Awesome song. Love them to death. Johnny and Bowzer are my favorite. But I love them all.

  • Johnny Contardo fans are pathetic. The guy has a nice voice. I can't NOT like him. It's just the stupid posts by obviously lonely women and a few men stating their love and LUST over him.

  • You're just jealous!

  • I don't think any us us are lonely! It's called having fun! Easy solution, don't read the posts! Well that was difficult to figure out!

  • Back off little boy. His fans including myself, we are far from pathetic. We know talent when we see and hear it. and if we comment about his looks, who cares. sorry you don't have anyone lusting after you, so don't take it out on us and Johnny.

  • Love it Tuppy!! Why put down other people when we are doing no harm. Just enjoying enormous talent and a very nicelooking man!

  • And... it's not like Johnny doesn't know what we're saying about him... they way he moves and looks into the camera, he's playing it up! It's all part of being Johnny Contardo!

  • I do wonder sometimes if he really knows how attractive and sexy he was and still is!!

  • I'm pretty sure he does.... have you seen the video of him with one of his vocal students?? Where he's singing " Not A Bad Place To Start"?? O-M-G!!! The "viagra" line.... "swoon" !!! LOL

  • I just watched it and he sounds really good!! I like the line about kissing. Listen to it ! This should give the hater something to write about.

  • LOL You're a trouble maker!!!

  • Trouble's my middle name!

  • HEY, that's my middle name, too! :D

  • Somehow I knew that already!!

  • Really liked this show as a kid. Looking back, they should have had at least one 50's car on the set. They were common enough back then - poor people drove em.

  • Yup, we did! LOL

  • Mr. Johnny Contardo... his voice is still 'Quite-Awesome'!! Mr. Johnny Contardo was my Fave when I was much, much younger, & today he's still my Fave...'Sigh'!!

  • johnny has an incredible voice....wow..i am blown away

  • MMMMMM.... Johnny's wearing my favorite jeans! The ones with him in them!!! LOL

  • Comment removed

  • I must say Santini is smooth.. I'd stay!

  • Not only was Johnny HOT, with an incredible voice, but he was always bang on with the coreography, too! What a multi talented guy!

  • You are so right about his dancing!! He also has the best falsetto I've ever heard. Some guys trying it sound like choking mice!!

  • LOL! "Choking mice" lol lol lol!!!

  • Not that I have ever done that!! It just made sense when I wrote it!!

  • Haha! I spelled CHOREOGRAPHY wrong!!

  • I WILL, JOHNNY!!! I ABSOLUTELY WILL!!!!!

    grease4peace

    ~Kadie

  • thank thank you for posting!!! reliving my adolescent years!! man i grew up watching this cheesy show and loved every minute!!

  • oh lord! jocko is THE man! he's so damn cool..

  • Santini Is SEXY!!!

  • Johnny best falsetto in the business!!!

  • Like Frankie Valle is the voice of the 4 Seasons, Johnny Contardo is the voice of Sha Na Na. The very distinctive sound.

  • Johnny Contardo : the magic voice

  • Yes but it was Johnny Contardo who shone.

  • Hi msdemme - I lurve SNN too but be careful about drawing too much attention to all of us enjoying copyrighted SNN on YouTube as these clips may be pulled; and we may not get the SNN DVD set at all; then where would I get my daily fix of SNN...? Best cheers to you.

  • Actually it was Dr. Scott Powell's (Santini) personal website that led me to this. He has a link to this video.

  • Frazier could sing when he was younger ;)

  • Frankie Vallie eat your heart out! Johnny is the best!

  • Frankie Vallie may have put out a version of this song, but it was made famous by Maurice Williams and the Zodiacs.

  • Johnny is absolutely THE best singer and I am so thrillled to be able to appreciate his talents as an adult. We can't get enough of these videos.

  • Johnny "kid"Contardo has a great falsetto!

  • Nice job Dr. Powell!

  • I forgot just how funny these guys were!

  • Sha Na Na is the best ever!!!

  • i like frankie valli better!

  • Santini Rocks!!!!!

  • it's called 50s punk meets 50s doo-woop, the genre became known as GLAM (david bowie, t-rex, etc.........) real GLAM, not that 80s shit..............

  • and oh yeah, sha na na is kewl, but believe me, they are truly GLAM rip-off (kewl)

  • more than just looking backwards, their energetic covers of generally slower 50's and 60's tunes influenced the Ramones (fellow New Yorkers) and had a direct affect on punk rock!

  • CLASSIC, VERY WELL DONE!

  • This was my fave show as a kid

  • i remember watching this show every night with my nana (R.I.P)and my pops (R.I.P)and johnny contardo was my favorite ..hmm go figure i'm a proud Sicilian american and he was my fav ..lol

  • Dude ~ This guy is now an orthopedic surgeon.

  • Actually, they all graduated with degrees.

  • Jesus murphy havn't seen this since the 70's the good old days rock on

  • Wow, great song, thanks for posting it

  • Bowser...HA...!

I wonder how many of these guys actually had a hand in the origional productions from the 1950's and early 1960's.

  • I LOVE THIS IS MUSIC'

  • I love Sha Na Na!!!

  • I was howling, I remember watchin sha na na in the 70's takes me back.

  • Written and originally done by Maurice Williams with The Zodiacs.

  • Yep! And if any of you has ever watched "Dirty Dancing," the song was played in its entirety.

Hmmm... Think I'd like to see that movie again....

  • i thought it was a female back up singer well i was startled they are so very good todays music should be like this instead of every one wanting to shoot sommeone dont get me wrong i like lots of todays music but i cant stand wrap im not that old in my 20s

  • You make some very good points. I can't stand rap, either. You should check out the rest of Sha Na Na's videos and see just how much talent that guy, Johnny Contardo, really is. :)

  • I can't stand rap music, either. I would much rather sit and listen to Johnny sing all day :D

  • Same here...... well, and talking with him is great, too. What a sweet guy!

  • He is..

Johnny Angel...you're an angel to us

  • Love Sha Na Na.....like almost every song. But where can I get their tv-performances??

  • They are all so hot

  • nyet, not yet anyway. I was told that Sony owns the rights.

  • You are correct!

I think they may be the original group to do the song.

My only wish is that this song was longer.

  • Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons also sang it, in the '60s.

  • Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons also sang it in the '60s.

  • love those italians.
