I'm not a doctor :), but perhaps he was genetically predisponed for prostate cancer. Then you have a 2-5 times the population risk of developing it, so it's pretty bad...

going through this right now and im concerned, only 47 years,no family history, all body functions r normal, just had a biopsy done.question..does a biopsy always indicate a presence of cancer? my doctor thinks i might just have an enlarged prostrate is that serious? all body functions r normal 4 me is that insignificant 4 prostrate cancer? if u can answer these questions id appreciate it cause im going through hell right now thankyou..

If you have an enlarged prostate, its not a huge concern but you should treat it. The best way to go is the couple of prescription meds that are out there. Something like Flomax is nice because it gives immediate relief to overactive bladder, but in the case that your bladder problems actually come from enlarged prostate, Avodart is the most effective because it actually shrinks the prostate.

Any update on you, Doogwood? In my case, the pain is more and more frequent. It first started two years ago. 6 months between the first two events, then a month. And then 6 months without any problem. It became weekly and daily after that. In the last week, it's been many times a day... Sick and tired of that. I have a camera put in the penis on June 13. I hope they'll find SOMETHING.
